This painting is called “Piece of Me”. I decided to entitle it as such because it is supposed to represent something that I love about humanity and meeting new people- our ability to interact with one another and adapt our lifestyles, habits, and ways of thinking to each other. Each circle represents a single person, and that person is covered in dots of color meant to represent pieces of other people that have been picked up along the way. Each dot is representative of a tiny way that every person we meet has some sort of impact on our lives- whether good or bad. We carry with us, pieces of every single person we allow to impact us, and I think that’s beautiful. Giving away our pieces allows us to have a profound impact on others. I experimented a lot with colors in this piece, I usually wouldn’t use so many, but I really wanted to represent the diversity that unites us. I also experimented with more free form brush strokes.

“Being Pulled In & Away
For this assignment I chose to assort objects that represent the things and activities that have impacted/steered my life over this semester. All of these objects are laid out over top of an American flag created from old wooden pallets that was given to me by my family for my birthday last month.
Reasoning Behind Each Object: · Car Keys & Auto Shop Billing Receipt
o This is meant to represent the headaches that my truck has caused me over the course of the semester. I recently blew the engine in my truck (making it only worth roughly scrap value). Trying to figure out how to sell my truck, find a new vehicle, and pay for that new vehicle has been an unexpected challenge added to this semester for me. ·
Name Tag & Applebee’s Card o This is meant to represent the server position at Olean Applebee’s that I accepted early this semester. This job has been a good source of income and a great experience so far, but in turn, it has also taken away most of my time on weekends and some weeknights. ·
Face Mask & Thermometer o This is meant to represent the current pandemic that we are in and how it has created such a large impact on not only our semester at Bonaventure, but also the entire country and world. ·
Money o This is meant to represent the part of my semester spent on managing my finances. Given that I am a senior living off-campus this year, managing my money better has become more of a necessary focus for me. With the combination of rent, groceries, finding a new vehicle, and many other things, I have had to focus much more time and energy this semester on working and setting aside money to pay these bills. ·
Courses Scattered Around the Objects o
These courses are the courses that I am taking this semester. I scattered them around the outside of my chosen objects to represent how these things have continued to pull my time and focus in and away from my classes. Part 2:

“I believe my artistic style represents me in a way I express myself everyday. I love making art with lots of color. Every time I go to paint something, I immediately grab 6+ colors. I didn’t understand why I used to do that. By the time I pitting the 3rd or 4th color on my palette, I would question myself as to why I use so many colors. After creating so many pieces and more than half of them being covered up with lots of color, I knew I was I would say “funky artist”.
I love creating funky sculptures and painting. My favorite type of paintings usually have glitter and sparkles as well. I love us using items that shine brights and make my pieces pop.
The vibe I created on this piece gives you a funky colorful forest, park, jungle you name it vibe.  I created the tree first, because I wanted to use the dogs to represent my dog, Hazel, that I love so much. Also I created the tree and used the butterflies, because I love nature and just being outside. I used my paint palette as a canvas and threw glitter over it because that what I usually do lol. My famous pencil case that I’ve has for years is sitting back there looking pretty. She says “and off she went to change the world”, which really is inspirational and is the reason I use it as my everyday pencil/ art supplies bag and its one of my favorite colors. I added my anklet that I always wear that is very special to me. Lastly, one of my favorite playlist on my laptop playing named PNDD, which is every song Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR make together in one album <3. Overall, my piece is suppose to represent me and who I am as an artist. I am a bright, radiant, vibrant, color, loving artist and hopefully my style of art becomes more and more defined in the future.

Still-Life Description
In my still-life I tried to create an electric forest aesthetic. I wanted to create an interaction between natural things and material things. I believe that the colors and the objects that I chose for my still-life are representative of my personality and my style. For this project I was inspired by Nam June Paik’s TV Garden. In his art piece he combines electronics and plants in a colorful way, just as I intended to do in my still-life.
During the editing process I increased the brightness so that the viewer would be able to identify the different objects found in the still-life. I also increased the saturation and contrast to
create a more dramatic and electronic feel. The increased saturation makes the photo appear less natural and makes the lights and electronics stand out more. I also chose to use unnatural light from the lava lamps, salt lamp, laptop, and phone as my light source. This focus on the electronics and material items shows how they have taken over our lives while nature and the environment often take the back seat.

“Fireside Relaxation
List of objects:
1. Chess pieces (8 pawns, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 2 rooks, King, Queen)
2. Chess board
3. Headphones
4. Xbox controller (x2)
5. Speaker
6. Laptop
Two-paragraph response:
With my artwork, I wanted to create a sense of disorder but also relaxation. To create the former, I decided to use my fireplace as a background as it represents calm and serenity. I also placed a pillow in the background to keep with this theme of relaxation. I used the chess pieces to create a sense of disorder. The placement of the chess pieces also mirrors their purpose in chess. The pawns were littered about as pawns are used to create disorder and to confuse the enemy. Bishops only move diagonally so I placed them diagonal from each other (one behind the controller and the other in front of it). The knights move in an L-shape and that is how they are oriented. Rooks move vertically or horizontally so I placed them across from each other. Finally, the King and Queen are often the last pieces to move in chess, so I kept them on their original squares. I chose the objects that I did because music and chess are two ways that I relax when I am on break. This being my final project, I thought it’d be appropriate to create a still-life that shows what I’ll be doing once finals are over (relaxing!).
In terms of editing, I simply used the editing feature on my iPhone to maximize the black colors that I used in this still-life. I did not want to simply go monochrome as I wanted to keep the color of the stone and the Big K.R.I.T. album artwork (this comes from his album 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time and I think it might be one of my favorite album artworks).

Still-Life Title: “What a Vibe!”
My list of 10 objects:
1. Photo album
2. Paints and paintbrush
3. Aloe plant and flowers
4. Santa hat
5. Books
6. Rosary
7. Laptop
8. Planner
9. Watch
10. Headphones
---------------------------------------------
Paragraph Response:
The vibe that I created in this image was warmth, coziness, and elegance. It expresses my personality, and it also encompasses the things that define me. I chose a burgundy backdrop because it my favorite color. The burgundy backdrop contrasts with string lights. Burgundy expresses richness, passion, and intensifies the objects placed on the ground. The string lights give off a nice, soft light to the image. It also creates a rich and beautiful quality. The lights cast soft shadows creating a flattering glow on the objects as well. The photo album holds important memories that I cherish, and I smile back to. The paintbrushes and paints express my creativity. I love the aesthetic beauty and calmness that plants and flowers bring into a room. The Santa hat and lights represents how much I love the holidays because it’s shared with family and friends. I use my laptop all the time. Although it’s filled with deadlines and schoolwork, it also helps me unwind from a busy school day with shows and movies on Netflix. I like to listen to music with my headphones, it helps me relax and concentrate. The rosary brings out my faith and hope in life. The stack of books shows how important education is to me. The planner keeps me on check with clubs, events, and assignments. Lastly, I don’t really wear watches, but the watch represents how I value time and reminds me that the present is important.
During the editing process, I wanted to focus on the warmth and richness of the image quality. To begin, I added a vivid warm filter to the image. I also wanted to intensify the burgundy backdrop while highlighting the soft glow from the string lights. I dimmed the brilliance and lowered the highlights of the image. I also saturated the image. The saturation helped intensify colors, especially giving the image a rich yellow depth. These edits helped convey an overall relaxing and warm feeling.

Abstract Drawing Title: Let’s celebrate!
Excitement represents freedom and a burst of energy! It has no strict motion of movement. It is unbound to any specifics. It’s wild and daring to go beyond your thought. It reminds me of a child because they are so jumpy, carefree, and happy. “

Part 1 List of 10 objects: 1. Blanket 2. Mug 3. Pillow 4. Cookies 5. Teddy bear 6. Scrunchie 7. Sweatshirt 8. Laptop 9. Champagne Toast scent 10. Hot cocoa box
“Comfy Haven”
The vibe of this still-life is comfort. I decided to choose a blanket, pillow, and laptop with Netflix being the background since I love relaxing in that setting. I tend to wear a sweatshirt to give me warmth and tie my hair back with a scrunchie to keep my hair out of my face. I added a teddy bear for an added touch to give a comforting feel too. While watching anything on Netflix, I love baking cookies and eating them along with a mug of hot chocolate. Lastly, the still-life includes my favorite scent known as Champagne Toast, encompassing the overall comfy vibe.
For the editing process, I wanted a warm and refreshing background. This is why I used the blinds that cover my backyard to give natural lighting to the picture. The base and surrounding area of the objects is a sofa. I edited the picture to give a more warm tone, increasing the saturation and contrast accordingly. I also included shadows and highlights for adding the effect of the afternoon, giving a sense that a sunset is occurring at the moment.

“List 1. Bottle of Rum 2. Diet Coke 3. Xbox Controller 4. Laptop with Moodle Open 5. Hat 6. Mask 7. Wallet 8. Car Keys 9. Phone Charger 10. Leftovers
Since we all have had to change the way we live because of covid I wanted to capture some essentials now that covid is a part of our lives. On the left side is leftovers from a takeout order of food, since dining in at many places is prohibited again. Also on the left is a bottle of rum and a mixer of coke, since there is not a lot to do anymore a lot of people have been having drinks more often. Also, on the left is an xbox controller which has been used more because we have been forced to stay in more often. The last item on the left is a phone charger which is obviously important when you are using your phone more often. In the middle is my laptop that is opened up to moodle. This shows how moodle is used so much more now that many classes are online. On the right are essentials for leaving the house, a hat was needed since many barber shops are closed, wallet and keys are always needed, and now an essential that goes hand and hand with your wallet and keys is a mask. I wanted the one side to be essentials at home and the other to be essentials to leave the house. And in the middle is how most of the schoolwork gets completed today.
Some of the digital moves I made was to reduce the brightness of the image, I wanted to give it more of a gloomy look. To add to this look I also changed the contrast and the shadows of the photo. I also turned up the saturation, vibrance, and also the warmth of the image. I liked how the image turned out it almost looks like an older photo and sets a gloomier mood.

“Still-life title: “Representative of My Life” List of ten objects: 1. My phone 2. A watch my brother gave me 3. My favorite book 4. A picture of my dad and I 5. My driving sunglasses 6. My favorite candy 7. My favorite drink 8. My recorder 9. A picture representing Saint Bonaventure 10. A stuffed rat my girlfriend got me for our anniversary The vibe that I created: I created my still-life with a vibe that surrounded happy memories and things in my life. I wanted my still life to resemble my life as closely as possible, so I carefully handpicked ten of my possessions to represent me. I tried my best to arrange the items in a stacked fashion and used the Dutch still-lives as inspiration. I wanted my backdrop to be plain and white to bring more attention to the items I had laid out in the foreground. I believe that this really helped the items in the front pop. To briefly discuss the items in my photo, my phone, sunglasses, and watch are all things I cannot live without. These are things I use every day in my day-to-day life. The Saint Bonaventure picture means a lot to me because I feel like Saint Bonaventure helped me to grow and develop as a human being. The picture of my dad and I as well as the stuffed rat remind me of joyful times in my life. I also added my recorder from third grade in the still-life because I always loved playing it as a kid and it reminds me of fun times as a child.
Digital moves that I made during the editing process: The first thing I did was crop the picture to get rid of any unnecessary background imagery. Then, I added a filter and lowered the exposure in my photograph using an editor on my phone to make my picture appear brighter and more vibrant. Then I added a digital frame to my picture to create a border. I also straightened the picture and slightly adjusted the contrast, shadows, and highlights to eliminate some of the darker areas of the photograph. Lastly, I put my photograph into photoshop and extended the white backdrop on the left side because it fell short a little and part of my wardrobe was showing in the background. Within photoshop, I also removed the huge reflection that the camera flash caused in the Saint Bonaventure picture. Part 2 of the final: Title of abstract: “Jubilant Bubbly Blast”

“The things that make Me Me
For my photo the 10 things that I chose to be in the still life are my TV, NHL 21 the video game, my PlayStation controller, my laptop, a Saint Bonaventure beanie hat, a WWE coffee mug, a Bud Light bottle, a buffalo bills hoodie, a baseball bat, and a marvel movie. Every single one of these things as perfect meaning to me in my life. When I’m home my life consists of me going to work and me coming home to either watch TV on my TV or play video games on my TV that’s why I chose my TV. I chose NHL 21 to be in there because it symbolizes for me my love for Hockey that I’ve been playing my entire life and my love for video games which I also symbolized in the controller that’s why it was there. I chose the hat and the Bud Light bottle because to me those coincide for me with the head of represents the college that I love, all of the friends that I have made here, and the bottle represents miss spending time with them and having fun and hanging out with them while I’m here at school.
For the other stuff that all that stuff it represents a lot of my life at home. I’m from Buffalo bills hoodie represents my love for my sports teams back home like the Buffalo Bills, and the Buffalo Sabres. The WWE mug hold a special place in my heart since it’s from wrestlemania which is the biggest wrestling show of the year for WWE and I share that connection with my dad and we went to that show together which was my dad’s and I’s first wrestlemaina. The Marvel movie is huge in my life I’m a huge fan of Marvel and every movie I go out and watch with my friends and my parents and since they came out, I’ve just been engulfed in the Marvel universe and it’s been just a huge part of my life since then. My laptop is the thing that keeps me connected to the world I use it every day to watch you to text my friends FaceTime my friends it keeps me connected with everything; the baseball bat is a little kid in my past for me. Until college I was playing baseball every summer and it allows me to just not be a one-dimensional sports player like I am now but it allowed me to make friends outside of my street my school since I am an only child and connect me to my past and the good times I had with my friends I made through Baseball and my teams.”

“Title: Romanticized Intellect
1. Framed picture of a print. (Quote from Benjamin Franklin)
2. Bottle of wine
3. Glass of wine
4. Thomas Edison lightbulb
5. Glasses
6. Lit candle
7. Lit candle
8. Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
9. Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
10. Timepiece by Richard Paul Evans
11. Ray’s Elementary Arithmetic, American Book Company
The vibe that I wanted to create was a take on the romanticized, dark academia. The objects I chose such books, light bulb, and glasses were used to illustrate academia. The inclusion of wine and candles were used to add the romantic element to the still life. Overall, I wanted to create a warmer feel to academia considering it can be very stressful. I consider myself to be a hopeless romantic which is why I wanted to romanticize the idea of academia. To contribute to the vibe I wanted, I used objects that consisted the colors brown, red, black, and gold.
For the editing process I really wanted to play round with lighting. I did this by already adding lit candles and a lightbulb already in the still life. To create this sense of dark academia, I darkened shadows and added contrast to the photo.

“TITLE: “Organized chaos”
Items shown
1. Radio
2. Watch
3. Lego stormtrooper
4. 3d printed figure (among us)
5. Polaroid photo
6. Map of gettysburg
7. Of mice and men book
8. Legend of Zelda (Video Games)
9. Christmas lights
10. Set of Dice
Before starting the assignment I realized that all the things I hold sentimental value towards, or find interesting were located at my desk. I find the organized chaos of my desk to be comforting and wanted to bring that to this.as well, after looking at these things for a few minutes and parsing them down to the smaller stuff, I decided I wanted to emulate miniature photography, where my favorite images look to be self contained in a box. I wanted to light the entirety with christmas lights but found however that they were not bright enough and cast shadows in places that made it impossible to tell what something was.
In terms of editing the photo I wanted the glow of the christmas lights to be prominent, the original photo was dark in order to mute them. During the enhancement process after looking at the scene in its raw form, I found a way through to make them pop. I am most proud specifically of the purple glow on the seagan logo of the radio because this is what I was going for around the scene.

“Part 1—
The title of your still-life: Pharmacognosy
A list of your ten objects:
1. Brass kettle 2. Milk jar 3. 4 Atlas jars 4. Teacup & plate 5. Blue lotus tea 6. Dried rose petals 7. 4 Essential oils 8. Hemp Oil
9. Valerian tincture (hidden by kettle) 10. Various tea bags 11. Fabric Napkins (counting individual jars and essential oils = 19 items)
A vintage aura illuminates with textural elements of brass, metal, glass, fabric, and plants. These elements pose as realistic representations of the natural world, sculpting an overall primitive charm. Although variety of objects is known to contrast the principle of unity, my introduction of what is dissimilar works to create harmonic scenery.
My editing process expresses blurred edges with a faded overlay and the visual character of my artwork embodies a saturated, warm ambiance. Blended orange undertones inspired from brass create an uplifting and adventurous spirit.

Tea light candle in a bowl with water 9. Glass “earth” rested on a piece of wood 10. Vine plant 11. Backdrop is an astrology tapestry
Title: Balancing the five elements
I wanted to emphasize harmony within the elements in this piece. I wanted it to be calming, which is why I chose to only have the tea light candle and natural lighting from my window as the light source. I displayed my objects to surround Buddha and placed him to seem as if he was floating. The elephant was placed to represent wisdom, patience, calmness. I also wanted to include an animal because it’s important we create balance between humans and animals.
This photograph was taken at this angle to have an asymmetric alignment with the wooden desk and represent space/the ether with the astrology tapestry. The candle was placed at the front to create a shadow and an angled light source on the objects. Keeping the piece dark gives it a calming effect, and also gives a historic feel.

Still Life Title: The World Towering Over Me
Objects List:
1.) Notebook
2.) Notebook
3.) Notebook
4.) Chess Set
5.) Mask
6.) Laptop
7.) Composition Book
8.) Bud Light Seltzer
9.) Calculator
10.) Pen
-------------------------------------------------------------
The ten objects I chose to use were a chess set, three notebooks, a pen, my laptop, a composition book, a bud light seltzer, a calculator and a mask. The purpose of this still life was supposed to represent my college experience as a whole and how moving throughout these last four years felt like a big game in a way. The chess set has all of the pieces jumbled to show how this game is totally different for everybody and each person should expect to get a completely new experience with a totally different set of challenges to anyone else.
The pen is centered in the middle of the board to show that that is the most important part to the whole equation. What you write and what you record for work is the most important thing, that is what makes or breaks your time at college. All of the remaining objects are scattered around the board to act as if they are towering over the game and showing all of the influences that I felt were staring at me through these last four years. I know the inclusion of the bud light seltzer seems off however, I felt it was important to show that not all parts of college are about the work, sometimes you need to be able to go out and enjoy yourself to get away from all of the stress that is classes. The mask and the laptop are used to signify how adaptable you need to be able to be in college with the quick shift coming from the pandemic since march of this year.

“Still Life: “Tis the Season”
10 Items:
1. Mixer
2. Milk
3. cracked egg
4. stick of butter
5. cookie cut outs
6. mixing bowl
7. measuring spoons
8. cookie mix
9. mixing spoon
10. veg. oil
11. oven mitt
--------------------------------------------------
In my still life, I attempted to remake a dark, Christmas cookie baking night to enhance the great Christmas season. As a child, I always baked cookies with my grandparents, so today I always try to keep the traditions going. To do this, I included the typically cookie baking items, being the utensils, an oven mitt, and off course cookie cut outs. To express the fun and warm Christmas feels, I used Christmas wrapping paper as my backdrop and a dark room with my Christmas tree lights shinning for lighting. Finally, the last part to enhancing the Christmas feel is making it smell like yummy sugar cookies.
To further show that I was baking Christmas cookies, I implemented little gingerbread man cookies throughout the bottom of my still life. Gingerbread cookies are a well-known Christmas cookie so I felt these would really enhance the Christmas feel. Additionally, due to wanting to have a dark feel but also have enough light on my various items, I had to digitally change the brightness and contrast. By changing these, I was able to make my items shine and be noticeable while still having the dark tone. Overall, these changes were able to add to my warm and cozy feel of Christmas.

“Objects: Sailboat, painting, lighthouses, shells, jar of sea glass, sunglasses, rocks, anchor, seagull, buoys, lights.
I chose to do a beach theme for my still life because the water has been a big part of my life. I grew up on Lake Ontario, so being on the water has always been something special to me. Whether I’m at the beach or floating on a boat, the water brings a sense of calmness to me. I wanted to create a piece that allowed me to express my water loving personality and the calmness that it brings. I thought the lights could set the tone for the charismatic piece. All of the items that I chose to include in the still life are either found in the water, on top of the water, or can be found by the water, and they all have a special meaning to me as it reminds me of my home.
The editing process for this piece was not very long but it was fun to create a new aspect of the picture. While I was taking the picture, I had a bright spotlight shining on the still life, so that it added a new dimension to the photograph. After I took the picture, I cropped the image so that it was centered and there wasn’t extra background space. I then used a vivid warm filter on my phone and then adjusted the brightness, sharpness and exposure of the photo. This created the warm and calming tone of the picture, making you feel that you want to sit outside in the sunshine listening to the cool waves crashing on the rocks.
