Ashley…..just a slightly elder millennial whose Roman Empire is the 99 USWNT’s affect on the world of sports. Not so secret sports enthusiast with a minor in fashion, the hallmark channel, and cozying up with a good book.

Our tiny Dane is holding her own in midfield tonight, and I for one am very proud.

For the love of all that is holy, Gotham please don’t be team number 3 that loses this weekend.

Contextually, what do we think of the rumored pride signing Ovalle?

Weather delay…which is weird cause I’m 13 miles from the stadium and it’s rumble city but no rain.
Typical Gotham for the game though…we’re doing quite well aside from that very confusing sonnett mistake. Like bizarro…oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have talked about this quite a few times, and constantly hold hope that the collective outrage will be louder each time….if not for the insidiousness of it all, then at the very least the self preservation of one’s own club.
Too many thoughts atm.

Say what you want about that game, but down to 10 with Rodman and Cantore on the pitch…I’ll take it!

What a cool study !!
The study to finally shut up all the people complaining about women’s football. No idea why it’s not more popular:
Source: https://www.zeit.de/sport/2025-07/gleichberechtigung-maenner-frauen-em-fussball-gruenflaeche (translated & shorten by me).
To illustrate what women achieve on a field developed for men, researchers at the university in Trondheim, Norway, turned the game on its head: they calculated what key performance factors would look like if men had to play under truly comparable conditions, proportional to their physical capabilities. The pitch would not be 105 meters long, but 132 meters and 17 meters wider. The goal would not be 7.32 meters wide but nearly 8 meters and 20 centimeters higher. The researchers call this XXL field the “unfair pitch”. On such a pitch, even a standard penalty for women would suddenly become a twelve-meter shot for men.
But that’s not all. The researchers also extrapolated other parameters: for true comparability, a men’s match would have to last not 90, but 113 minutes, and extra time not 30, but 38 minutes. Even the ball would be different: 200 grams heavier and with 10 centimeters more in circumference. And don’t dismiss it as nonsense, after all, in sports like handball and basketball, the balls used by men are also larger and heavier than those used by women.
Then the Swiss science TV show Einstein had the brilliant idea to make the “unfair pitch” a reality for one of its episodes during the Women's European Championship. The U19 and U17 players from the Swiss first-division clubs FC Thun and FC Winterthur volunteered as test subjects for this “one-of-a-kind football experiment.”
“This is so brutal, bro!” says the first player to be substituted after 56 minutes, just at halftime. “The pitch is enormous,” he groans, “unbelievable what women have to go through.” “The goal is way too big,” says the lanky goalkeeper during the field inspection, “this is going to be a challenge.” And sure enough, during the match, a long-range shot flies right over him and into the net—a classic “women’s football goal,” often ridiculed, but now put into a new context. The director filming the game for Einstein usually works on Champions League matches. He observes the players struggling immensely with the heavier ball; they can’t even get a corner kick to reach the middle of the penalty box. And everything looks so slow, as if the footage is playing in slow motion. Yet both teams are giving it their all, and by the end, they’re completely exhausted; the match is decided by a twelve-meter shootout. “I never want to go through that again, not for all the money in the world,” says one player. “Respect for women’s football!”
And what comes out of this super-size experiment? First of all, it’s an eye-opener. The woman next to me nearly bursts into tears as we watch the Einstein segment together. So powerful is the visualization of the strength female players must summon to close the gender gap in every game. For her, it’s more than just football - it’s a symbol of how women have to navigate a world designed for men. And now the guys are finally getting a taste of what that actually means. She sees the structural problem of patriarchy presented here as simply and powerfully as possible.
One often-discussed solution is to reduce the dimensions of the game for women. But very few active female players want that. They want to play the game as it is. But as their game. And without the comments of misogynistic conspiracy theorists.

Little late to the party, and with much to be said I’ll just say this…..Jessica Leigh Carter you didn’t owe us anything but in spite and despite it all, you persisted.

This Germany-France game is fantastic. Germany down to 10, and deservedly so cause wtf are you doing pulling someone’s hair at all, putting up quite a fight against a young and dynamic French squad.
Whoever wins has to face Spain, which at this point I don’t think either Germany or France have played well enough yet in this tournament to do…but the sheer soccer being played right now is fun to watch.

wow…you sound like a delightful human being.
My OG reply was hella immature so I rewrote it lol
I get it anon, you’re hurt. Sweden lost, and karma came back around in some weird way. It was their game to lose and they failed spectacularly all around. Maybe having your goalie take a PK before any of your forwards and putting the weight of the game on an18 yr old’s shoulders was not the best look?
As a fan of the game with no stake in anything, I’m not gonna root for the side that decided to ride a questionable goal line call to glory as if they just won gold (even if it was 2 ish years ago). At the end of the day, it’s just a game and not so serious.
PS- I am actually a delight, thank you very much! But on a more serious note, I actually love to talk the game with people from all POVs and with different opinions…so if you actually want to have a constructive convo and not throw anonymous pot shots in my DMs I’d be happy to chat. Not as up to date on some of the domestic European leagues as I’d like to be though, so fair warning.

I know everyone and their mom was rooting for Sweden, but if someone doesn’t make a meme out of their PK loss 🙃😤🤬🙅🏻‍♀️
I hold grudges like crows do, and have little sympathy.

I’m also sure my blood pressure in non existent at this point 😂
I don’t wanna see a single piece about jess carter in this game so far without talking about Keira Walsh being played off the pitch, Leah Williamson just stopping and watching, your rb playing the roll of the winger instead of your actual winger, and how slow your midfield is.
Playing scared never helped anyone.
