Danielle, smiled and continued to trace shapes on her husband's skin as she cuddled closer.

"Perhaps I have, would that be so bad?" The Dauphine giggled, let Henry tease her all he pleased, she was so in love with him, so what if he gentled her nature?

Henry had never known a serenity, a quiet, like this. His mind was normally a storm of noise, be it rage at his father, guilt for his brother, or regret for the weight of his duty. But in moments like this, all the winds ceased blowing.

"No admonishments today, princess?" He teased, though his eyes shined with the most tender of affection. "Could it be that you've gone soft on me?"

Danielle, her belly swollen with child, smiled up at her husband, the university had become a shared dream of theirs, but with her confinement fast approaching, Danielle found that she could not help with the university plans as much as she liked.

"Can I pull you away for a moment?"

Hearing his wife's voice, the prince excused himself and all but ran to the staircase. Leaning against the railing, he smiled fondly down at her. He should have known she'd figure out where he'd snuck off to. It was, after all, damn near impossible to surprise her.

"Up here. I was just discussing some matters with the Friars. About the university."

Henry's smile was enough to ease her fears, at least for the moment. She'd never met her own mother, Nicole had died in childbirth. But, when he kissed her hands, Danielle smiled, even though he was admitting to being afraid, and so was she.

They could face anything together.

"I'm terrified too," Danielle admitted sheepishly.

"But I can face anything, so long as it's with you."

Henry froze when his wife said those life altering words. They were to have a child. Being king was a responsibility he'd never expected to have, nor wanted. And this new responsibility frightened him almost as much.

His relationship with his father had been strained all his life. And though things with Francis were on the mend now, thanks in large part to Danielle, Henry still worried. Would he be a good father? Did he have it in him?

But, despite all his trepidations, Henry still beamed. Danielle was perfect, and he had no doubt in her being the best mother a babe could hope for. And if he had her hand to guide him in this, like he did in ruling, then how could he fail?

Sitting down beside her, the prince took his princess's hands and kissed them devoutly. "I... There's so much I want to say, and yet, I can't think of a single thing." He stammered. "I'm thrilled and terrified all at once."
