KEEP THE FAITH
Tumblr media
Abby hugged her friend back. “Anytime. And yes my shift ends after yours.” But she knows not everything always goes as planned. “A few hours later.”
“Just text me if anything goes wrong and I’ll be over as soon as possible.” She’s just going back to the office. To do digging around. Nothing to dangerous about that. Nat is still in the hospital with the sick hunter.

It all had happened in what felt like a blink. Finding the kids, the freaking Rawhead ambushing them...Dean's screams.
That had been the worse, hearing his brother in pain. No, actually finding him on the floor half unconscious had been the worst thing he had experienced, since Jess died.
Thinking that if only they had better flashlights with them this whole thing could've been avoided was maddening. They would have seen the place was flooded and tased that thing elsewhere. Or at least, he thinks so.
But no, all they had were those lousy cheap flashlights that didn't light up entire rooms, the stupid things. And then Dean had to play the hero and ask him to leave with the children. Always saving his ass...stupid big brother.
"That's not fair, I'm the stupid one" Sam bitterly corrects himself "If I had been paying closer attention, that thing would have never grabbed me in the first place" he continues to beat himself up.
And now, here he is, still dealing with the cops. "I need to go check on my brother" he kept telling them. He even made a show of taking out Dean's insurance ID.
"Here's my card" one of them says "If you, or your brother need anything don't hesitate and give me a call" he continues with a look on his face, that if Sam had more references, would have definitely recognized as sympathetic.
And then it registers, to them, they're nothing but a couple boys that didn't think twice when hearing the pleading screams of small children and jumped into action, wanting to be of help.
It's a weird feeling to be honest, to be talking to cops and not having them treat him like a suspect. He sheepishly thanks the officer and gives his shoulder a pat before running off to talk to Dean's attending doctor that just appeared down the hallway.
"We'll have an officer reach out to you for a follow up" it's the last thing he heard the cop tell him.
And then...the nausea. Dean's doctor says his brother only has a couple weeks to live. It feels like being underwater with the lights above his head growing smaller.
He thinks he heard the doctor saying they've assigned Dean an intern. Honestly he couldn't care less. Going to see Dean is all he cares about now.
With his hands shoved in his pockets he approaches his brother's bed, and of course, the first thing out Dean's mouth is a complaint about daytime TV.
Sam can't help but chuckle, sick as a dog and his brother is still cracking jokes. He hates that they have to talk about his prognosis. If he could he'd just get him healed, without Dean having to lift a finger.

Abby gives a light laugh. “That’s one way to spicy to spice up the relationship.”
Her face back to serious. “Alright I’ll get that out and when does your shift end? I’m suppose to meet Sam for his follow up statement he clearly got out of off and since “mr young.” Is a hunter I’m sure he won’t step foot in that station.”
Grabbing Nat’s cup she stood up. “He won’t attack you in the hospital, he knows that’s stupid.”
“Call me when your off and will share notes again.”

KEEP THE FAITH

Abby nods listening to her friend and also roommate. She remembers when she met Nat on night shift and ran into something that they now hunt. It’s lucky she had her training or she’d probably be dead. She didn’t come out unscathed tho. She has the scar mark on her right lower side to prove it. Or three at least. Nat patched her up After they worked to defeat it. When that was all done she guesses Nat saw potential and the right circumstances worked for both of them and the end thing you know she’s selling her fancy car her parents got her and moving into the place she now calls home.
“Well I went to the morgue, did a little picture taking and whatever they were hunting, they tazed the hell out of it. High voltage I’m thinking” she pulls out her phone and flips it open before handing it to Nat to show her. “If you don’t want it is l can head back home and have a look put a APB out on the car. So we can track them down if you like.”
Abby looks over at Nat seeing the blush and half grins. She hasn’t gotten a good look at the brother but if he was anything like the younger one she was in trouble.
Taking a lighter turn to the matter she added with some light teasing. “Hey if you gonna fall for someone, at least you won’t need to shock him into. I’m a huntress.” Abby glanced over at Nat a smirk along her lips, as she did a casual jazz hands with her finger tips, before the smirk turned into a grin.

Abby held out the coffee to her. “It’s still warm. Figured you could use it.” She said, she’s already finished her and is holding on to the empty cup because there isn’t a garbage can close.
“But yeah something has come up. Your treating the “hero” of the brother duo. I heard. And if your coming to me saying something up. You’ve seen the clues too.” She states.
“I’ll go first. Sam young. There is something off about him. He good with his words for sure and gives off the polite college kid but I wanted double check at the office and at the house.”
Abby nodded a little to her. “What do you got?” There is no way Nat hasn’t seen the signs, with working with him.

If she’s a witch then she’d likely know what all his scars are from, but killing him in mid day is broad but she could make it look like an accident but not stupid enough on the first day. He still has his old clothes he’ll grab his phone and call Sam.
He’ll leave tonight. It’ll be easier then.
“All good doc?” He asks. Thinking of different ways he could fight if she started right now.

Nat's shift was about to start when her supervisor, Dr. Codrington, paged her. A quick sigh escaped her lips as she grabbed the paper cup from the coffee machine, only to toss it on the trash can next to it.
"Sorry coffee" she whispered somewhat apologetically to the liquid now pouring out of the crimson cup. Yes, deep down she was still a silly girl that talked to stuff, whimsy kept her sane sometimes.
But she didn't have much time to ponder now. She was being assigned a new patient: Male, 26, massive heart attack. It was all the message said.
Her footsteps echoing down the hallway as she rushed to Dr. Codrington's office.
"His name's Dean Young, he was brought in past midnight. You may hear about him in the news" Dr. Codrington mentions casually, quickly adding "He and his brother rescued the Benz children" when he notices her puzzled look.
"He electrocuted himself badly with a stun gun and a puddle. You can read everything on his chart" he explains nodding towards the folder already in her hands.
He gives her an stern look "All we can do, is keep him comfortable. I know you would like to save them all, but the faster you accept we have limits the better...for you and for them" he finishes as he heads out the office, signaling her to follow him.
"This guy's losing his life after performing an heroic act" is what she says herself as she rushes behind Dr. Codrington.
"I'll introduce you to him, ask him if he's okay if we bring you as part of his medical team" he briefs her, glancing back at her "I don't think he will say no" he adds with a knowing look.
"Because you're a pretty girl" that's the thing he's not telling her outloud, but it's already hanging in the air.
"Eye candy for a dying guy, it could be worse" crosses her mind as they step into the room.
Nurse Jenkins is with him, leaving a tray with some pitty breakfast, but that's all she can see, since the drapes around his bed, in the communal room they put him in, are half drawn.
"26...that's too young for someone to die" is the last thought that crosses her mind, before nurse Jenkins pulls the curtains open.

On second thought. She’d ask Nat to meet her out in the garden area, at their covered spot. Chances are If Mr young is around he could be there. But chances are he’s probably not even in the building with his shadiness going on.
Pulling out her flip phone she texted Nat and turned around heading outside. It was a relatively nice day. she glanced around once the soft breeze hit her. It was refreshing from being inside and headed to their spot to wait, two coffees in hand. She knows Nat’s might be cold, but it’s the thought that accounts.

Dean nodded. “Yeah sure go ahead.” He told her, it works for both of them. That way he can get a better look at the charm.
When he did, he noticed what it actually was. It’s a subtle hint to witches, which could mean two things. She found thought it was cool and wore it.
She’s a Wicca. Okay there’s three things.
Or she’s a god damn witch and since most people don’t know what that is and it’s not an actual nice jewelry it’s usually handed down or found in very small thrift shops that no one wants.
He’s gonna go with options three.
Witch.
Son of a bitch. His hot doctor is a witch. He needs to get out of here faster now.

Abby headed to the front desk and asked if they were Nat was. She was on friendly bases with the nurses so she didn’t have to use her professional whole Dr thing.
Low and behold she was right. Nat was seeing the mysterious brother duo. Which means Nat’s been up close and personal with them, sweet charming them into anything she wants really. She’s good with like with patients.
How did she want to play this. Wait outside the room again? What if the young brother came back? She could say she needs a statement from his brother. With some idea in her head she headed back to that side of the wing if Nat picked up anything her hunch was right but she still wants to double check a few things.

Dean listened thru the whole shebang she had to say- not that he had a choice in the matter-and while she was moving her hands, he noticed a charm on her wrist but no movement to let her know he saw. Even in on his death bed he knew that something like that was not regular charm. Once she’d leave he’d have a chance to draw it on paper and have a think on it. Ask Sam if he came by.
Damn and here he thought he was gonna have a nice regular hot intern. Or maybe he’s so bored he’s seeing things but he’ll look into it anyways.

Call it what you wish. Lucky or unlucky but Abby had talked to the coroner and got some subtle pictures with her flip phone and her stealthiness.
While heading back up the stairs the pictures of whatever it was did look suspicious for sure? Was he just a really hairy guy? A burnt victim, well he was now.
Shame on you Abby for that bad pun. You are going the hell, but technically it was true, she’d have to get a better look at the picture because it didn’t look right that’s for sure.
The taser voltage look too high to be “I just got tazed by a two men over 6 foot minding my own business because I got lost and heard two screams and decided to be heroes.” She’ll stop off at home and check the books Nat has because learning all the creatures that go bump in the night. Well there’s just too many and it’s early years still. She knows the more common ones.
Stuffing her phone back in her pocket she opened the door back up to level four and headed out.

“Yeah it would be nice to get out of the bed a little that’s for sure. Cause clearly there’s so much great tv on right now.” He snorted softly before taking another sip.
“But thanks again for getting this.” the food was helping his mind body and soul as Sam would probably say or something along those lines.

"26...that's too young for someone to die" is the last thought that crosses her mind, before nurse Jenkins pulls the curtains open.

man he must be sicker than he thinks, well he is dying if she can read him that good. He’s gonna have to work on his poker face better.
“I’m not. Flowers are great, the room could do with a little color and life in it. Since the puke yellow walls aren’t the best selling feature. What are they from the 50?”
He half grins when he sees the food. “But thank you for the food. And you can keep the straw. Not a straw man. Smells delicious” and he realizes he’s hungrier than he thought as he grabs the sandwich. “Give fairy godmother my thanks, if you can.” With that he takes a bite.

Abby decides to take the long way to the morgue this time around. Why? She couldn’t put her finger on it. Maybe because she knew the coroner had a break in 15 minutes and she wasn’t in the mood to play “I’m not lying to your face today” cop since she does come down here when needed and she’s not detective, well not legally but she’s working on it. She wanted to get a closer look at the body or pictures of it, and she’s just a “cop” so she shouldn’t have access. After that she’ll pick Nat up a coffee since she probably hasn’t had one or at least gotten to drink it before asking if she’s noticed anything and update her on what she’s thinking herself

"Talked to your doctor".

Dean had heard someone come in, and woken up to see bright colors and internally groaned. God civilians were annoying. He was just doing his job. They didn’t need to go over the top but since he’s stuck in this room he has to pay the price of “hero”
“Seems like it.”

Dean is shocked by how bubbly she is for a moment, it took him by surprise.
“Yeah I figured grilled cheese lady probably has to make it. See ya in a bit.”
He actually is getting a bit sleepy maybe he can have a nap till she comes up he’s even up on tv for the moment and he’s a light sleeper he’ll hear her coming. Is she always this bubbly? He’d probably like it better if he wasn’t dying.

Abbys been pretty good at keeping herself in check, she relaxed around him so he’d know she wasn’t gonna have another go at him, plus they were talking about the kids so nothing too crazy there. Tho she hates that he has time to make up a good story cause, but she also knows people can have long conversations about what’s happening and try and get some sleep so she backed off. In the mean time maybe something on the data base will answer some questions.
He’s relaxed ever since he didn’t have to tell her the story and that could be one of two things.
“Your very welcome Mr. Young.” She said giving him a smile and shaking his hand.
My god he has big hands.
