Rishabh Pant to continue as captain of Delhi Capitals for the remaining IPL 2021
Despite the return of regular skipper Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant is expected to stay as Delhi Capitals (DC) captain for the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to sources. While Iyer was ruled out of the competition owing to a shoulder ailment, Pant was named the DC captain. After recovering from shoulder surgery, Iyer has already arrived in the UAE, where he is preparing for the remaining IPL 2021 matches. Pant, on the other hand, is now in England, where India is playing the hosts in a five-Test series.
“While it’s fantastic that Shreyas Iyer is back in shape and ready to play, it’s understood that the DC management wants to give him more time to recover. As a result, Pant will continue to captain the team, but just for the second half of the IPL 2021,” Sportskeeda source said.
“It’s a setback, but you just have to push through it and come back strong. It was difficult for me to accept that I would have to undergo surgery. I was at the highest level, at the top of my training before the injury, and then this freak incident happened,” Iyer remarked. On September 22, the Delhi Capitals will resume their IPL 2021 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
DC reached the IPL final for the first time in 2020 under Iyer’s leadership. Pant has done an excellent job leading DC thus far in the competition, as they currently sit atop the IPL 2021 table with 12 points from eight games.

2 new teams confirmed for IPL 2022, BCCI sets base price at Rs 2000 crore
The IPL, which is now an eight-team event, will expand to 10 teams for the next edition, and the mechanics of the bidding process were laid out during a recent governing council meeting.
“The bid document can be purchased for Rs 75 crore by any company. Initially, top brass considered retaining the basic price for two new teams at Rs 1700 crore, but it was subsequently agreed to keep it at Rs 2000 crore “PTI spoke to a senior BCCI source.
According to a source familiar with the financial aspects of the IPL, the BCCI stands to collect at least Rs 5000 crore if the bids go as planned, with a number of huge business conglomerates expressing significant interest in bidding. Only corporations with an annual turnover of Rs 3000 crore will be able to compete for the teams, according to reports. The BCCI has announced that it will allow a consortium to compete for franchises, which will make the bidding process livelier.
Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Pune are among the possible locations for the teams. Franchises could choose between the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, both of which have larger capacities.
The Adani group, RPG Sanjeev Goenka group, recognised pharma giant Torrent, and a famous financier who has showed strong interest in owning teams are among the names being bandied about.

India Women tour of Australia delayed by two days, all games to be played in Queensland
Due to Covid-19-imposed restrictions, the first match on the Indian team’s tour of Australia will be postponed by two days, from September 19 to September 21, and the full series of three ODIs, one day-night Test, and three T20Is will now be played in Mackay and Carrara in Queensland. The first ODI, which will kick off the series, was originally scheduled for North Sydney Oval, but will now be played in Mackay, along with the second and final ODIs, which were originally scheduled for Melbourne’s Junction Oval.
Covid-19 is currently wreaking havoc on Australia and because the number of infections is constantly increasing, no matches may be held in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth. Lockdowns are being imposed in all of these cities on a regular basis. According to the Times of India, this has caused Cricket Australia (CA) to relocate the ODI and T20I series from Sydney to Mackay, and the pink ball Test from Perth to the Gold Coast, which will also host the three T20Is.
All of this, however, is contingent on the Queensland state government’s final clearances upon India’s arrival. The group is leaving this afternoon and will arrive in Brisbane via Dubai, where they will be subjected to a 14-day strict quarantine that will finish on September 13. The players from outside Queensland are likely to arrive next week, with those from Melbourne and Sydney being forced to quarantine.
The Indians will play a practise match in Brisbane on September 18 following the quarantine. BCCI is said to have requested the warm-up game and multiple training sessions, based on their learnings from India’s tour of the United Kingdom earlier this year, when the team’s preparations were hampered by the lack of tour games.

RCB’s Hasaranga, Chameera cleared for IPL 2021, likely to miss playoffs
Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera have been granted permission to participate in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which will begin after the conclusion of the series against South Africa. South Africa will play three ODIs and as many T20Is beginning September 2, and the tour will conclude on September 14 with the last T20I.
“The ‘No Objection Certificate’ was provided to the duo for them to join the IPL teams commencing on September 15th (after the conclusion of the South Africa Tour of Sri Lanka),” according to an SLC statement. “The two players will join the Sri Lanka side on October 10th, 2021, for two warm-up games leading up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers.”
Royal Challengers signed Hasaranga and Chameera, as well as Singapore-born batter Tim David and English left-arm seamer George Garton, earlier this month as replacements for New Zealand’s Finn Allen and Scott Kuggeleijn, and Australia’s Kan Richardson, Daniel Sams, and Adam Zampa, who will all miss the tournament for various reasons.
While Hasaranga will be playing in his debut IPL season, Chameera was a member of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) squad in 2018 but did not play a single game. Apart from that, the coaching staff has changed, with Simon Katich stepping down as head coach and Mike Hesson, who is now the director of cricket operations, taking on the added job of filling in for Katich.

Jadeja taken to the hospital for precautionary knee scans
Following India’s defeat in the third Test at Headingley, allrounder Ravindra Jadeja was rushed to a hospital for precautionary scans on his knee. The severity of the injury, as well as which knee is injured, will be known on Saturday after the hospital results are received. Jadeja’s hospitalisation became public after he shared a story on Instagram with the description “not a nice place to be at.” With the Headingley Test ending on a four-day basis, Jadeja will have four full days to recover from his injury before the next Test, which begins on September 2 at The Oval.
Due to a fielding effort on the boundary on the second day, Jadeja was injured. After gripping his right leg, he was taken off the pitch for a short time. Soon after, he returned and resumed bowling.
Jadeja had previously sustained a finger injury during the January Test against Australia in Sydney. Despite his injury, Jadeja was padded up to bat, but was saved from pain by a last-ditch effort from Hanuma Vihari and R Ashwin, who helped India to a draw. He was forced to miss the Test series against England that India hosted in February and March due to his injuries.
The Indian squad is scheduled to depart for London on August 30, and if the scan tests reveal nothing significant, Jadeja will travel with them. On a ground that is renowned to aid slow bowlers, senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin could be called in to replace Jadeja. After winning the Lord’s Test, India were bowled out for 78 in the second Test and lost by an inning, bringing the series to a 1-1 tie. Root has now won 27 Test matches, making him England’s most successful Test captain.

Indian Super League Fantasy: Fan2Play App
The Indian Super League (ISL) is a professional football league that, along with the I-League,is one of two co-existing highest levels in the Indian football system. It is organised and supported by the Football Sports Development and the All India Football Federation and is officially known as the Hero Indian Super League due to a sponsorship agreement with Hero MotoCorp. The league’s eleven franchises are based in the following cities: Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Goa, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Jamshedpur. The league has been investing in stadium renovations at the ten identified venues, as well as improving a strong grassroots development programme that will create a platform for developing football talent in the country. The Hero ISL is positioned as a high quality and dynamic league that will elevate Indian football to an international level, with a mission to revolutionise the sport. There are currently 11 clubs in the league. During the league stage of the competition, each club competes against every other club in a round-robin format. The team with the most points at the end of the league stage is declared the Premiers and presented with a trophy called the League Winners’ Shield, and the top four clubs qualify for the play-offs. The season concludes with the ISL Final, which determines the Champions, who are awarded the ISL Trophy.
The clubs that are involved in the league are:
ATK Mohun Bagan Bengaluru FC Chennaiyin FC FC Goa Hyderabad FC Jamshedpur FC Kerala Blasters FC Mumbai City FC NorthEast United FC Odisha FC SC East Bengal
Since the league’s inception, four clubs have won the ISL Trophy, and two have won the League Winners’ Shield. ATK is the club with the most ISL Final victories, having won their third title in 2019–20. The League Winners Shield was introduced the same season and is awarded to the Premier team; the inaugural winner is Goa. During the first three seasons of the Indian Super League, attendances across the competition exceeded pundits’ expectations, owing to the timings of the matches, particularly on working days, and, of course, sheer promotion. The Indian Super League has approved the 3+1 rule in order to encourage local players to participate actively in the league. The rule will be incorporated into the ISL guidelines beginning with the eighth edition in 2021–22. The new rule allows seven Indian players to be named to the starting XI. The Indian Super League finals have remained the same since the league’s inception. They are only two rounds long, beginning with the semi-finals and concluding with the ISL Final. The semi-finals are played in a two-leg format, with both teams playing each other at their respective home venues. Following the conclusion of both matches, the team with the highest aggregate score advances to the final. If the aggregate scores are tied, the away goal rule is applied (introduced during the 2017–18 season, except for the 2020–21 season because the entire season was held in Goa). The final is a one-time event held on neutral ground, with the winner crowned champions. Fan2Play provides a very exciting way to enjoy Indian Super League Fantasy because of its user-friendly design, flexible squad selection and a unique feature called Fan2Play Challenge Fantasy game where we can build our team with as few as 2, 3, or 4 players. Faf du Plessis to lead Bangla Tigers ahead of Abu Dhabi T10 League
Faf du Plessis, the talismanic former captain of South Africa, has been selected as the icon player and captain of the Bangla Tigers for the forthcoming fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 league.
Faf has recently returned to the field after a two-month hiatus. After receiving a concussion during a match, he was ruled out of the Pakistan Super League. Due to colliding with his Quetta Gladiators teammate Mohammad Hasnain, he was wounded. He captained St Lucia Kings against Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League on Friday after his recovery.
“It’s a thrilling new experience to be a part of. In this competition, I’m looking forward to working with some of the biggest personalities in the globe and representing the Bangla Tigers. The game of cricket is about to enter a fascinating period. It’s inspiring to watch sports leagues like T10 put in so much effort and provide such intriguing options for sports fans. I’m excited to get started.”, Faf stated.
The event is being held at the Zayed Cricket Stadium from November 19 to December 2 in Abu Dhabi under the auspices of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and with the official consent of the International Cricket Council (ICC). In a career that began in 2011, Du Plessis has played 69 Tests, 143 ODIs, and 50 T20Is for South Africa. In all three formats, he has also captained South Africa.
“It’s fantastic to have a player of Faf’s calibre in our lineup. In various formats, we’ve all watched his achievements for South Africa. He is a world-class cricketer “Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury, the owner of the Bangla Tigers, remarked.
In the previous season, the Bangla Tigers were unable to qualify for the playoffs.
This time, Faf’s appointment might help them out. The Indian Premier League and the T20 World Cup will both be held in the UAE this year. Dubai might possibly host a new T20 franchise competition in January-February.

BCCI has notified states about no Ranji cap on U-25 competitions
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the number of Ranji players participating in the newly-instituted State A championship and the remodelled CK Nayudu four-day championships will be unrestricted.
“There will be NO cap on the number of players who were / will be in the playing XI of their respective State teams in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare and/or Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy during the ongoing season,” BCCI General Manager, Game Development Dhiraj Malhotra wrote to state associations on August 27.
Malhotra also discussed the decision to replace the Under-23 tournament with a competition for under-25s. “The Col C K Nayudu Trophy was held for the Men’s Under-23 age group in both one-day (limited overs) and four-day formats, and was last played in the 2019-2020 season.”
“We invite your attention to the following adjustments for this season 2021-2022: The one-day (limited overs) competition will now be known as ‘Men’s State A One Day Tournament’; The multi-day (4-day) tournament will now be known as ‘Col C K Nayudu Trophy – Men’s U 25’,” he continued.
The cut-off date for players who would be eligible to compete in the Under-25 category has also been explained by the BCCI official. “Players must be under the age of 25 on September 1st of the tournament year to be eligible to compete. As a result, the deadline would be September 1, 1996 “an official from the BCCI wrote.
Meanwhile, the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting has been postponed (AGM). The AGM is normally held before September 30 of each year, however it has been postponed, as it was last year, because of the pandemic crisis. The BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, recently informed the states of the postponement.

Rummy is a card game played with two decks of cards with a total of two Jokers. To win, a player must make a valid declaration by picking and discarding cards from the two piles given. One pile is a closed deck, where the player is unable to see the card that he is choosing, while the other is an open deck made of the cards discarded by the players. To win at a Rummy card game, players have to group cards in valid sequences and sets.
The cards in each suit rank from low to high, starting with Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen and King.
The Ace, Jack, Queen and King cards each have 10 points.
The remaining cards have value equal to their face value. For example, 4 cards will have 4 points and so on.
The Goal
The goal of the game is to arrange the 13 cards in valid sets and sequences. To win, you need to make a minimum of 2 sequences, out of which one needs to be a pure sequence and the rest can be any valid sequence or sets. Without a pure sequence you cannot make a valid declaration, this being one of the most important rules of the game.
Forming Sequences
A sequence is a group of three or more consecutive cards from the same suit. There are two types of sequences: a pure sequence and an impure sequence. To win a game, you need at least one pure sequence in your rummy hand.
Pure Sequence
A pure sequence is a group of three or more cards of the same suit, placed in consecutive order. To form a pure sequence, a player must not use any Joker or wild card.
Impure Sequence
An impure sequence is a group of three or more cards of the same suit with one or more Joker cards used to substitute the missing card in the sequence.
Forming Sets
This is a group of three or more cards of the same value but suits. When forming sets, you can use wild cards and Jokers to substitute missing cards in the set
A Note
Sets are formed with the same card of different suits. However, you can’t use two or more cards from the same suit in a set. This is an invalid declaration.
Also, a set may have more than four cards, so if you have a set of four cards and you are looking to use an additional Joker, then it becomes a 5-card group and can still be a valid set. At no given time can the hand have more than 13 cards.
A FEW QUICK TIPS TO WINNING
Here are a few quick tips to win at any game and stay a step ahead
Try to form a pure sequence at the very beginning of the game. Without one, you cannot make a declaration.
Discard cards with high points such as Ace, Jack, Queen and King and replace them with Joker or Wild Cards. This reduces the point load, in case you lose the game.
Avoid picking from the discard pile as it may give away what hand you are trying to form.
Look for smart cards.
Jokers play an important role, so try using them to replace other high value cards. Jokers and wildcards cannot be used to form pure sequences.
When making a declaration, check and recheck your cards before you press the button. An invalid declaration may turn a winning game into a complete loss.

KKR signs Tim Southee for remainder of IPL 2021, set to replace Pat Cummins
Tim Southee has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders for the remaining 31 games of the Indian Premier League season (IPL). On Thursday, a franchise official confirmed the signing of the New Zealand pacer. Southee takes the place of Pat Cummins, who has withdrawn from the IPL second leg due to personal reasons. Southee, who had played in the IPL for six years in a row, went unsold in the 2020 auction. His most recent appearance was with RCB in the 2019 edition, when he had an economy rate of 13 in the three games he played.
In the past, Southee has played for the Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He’ll now reconnect with former captain Brendon McCullum, who is now the head coach of the Knight Riders. In a team release, McCullum remarked, “We are happy to have Southee in our ranks. He’s a proven match-winner who’ll be a welcome addition to KKR’s already potent speed attack. We needed to add expertise and leadership to our bowling group because Cummins was unavailable, and Southee is the guy for the job.”
Cummins was purchased by the Knight Riders for INR 15.5 crore (about US$ 2.2 million) in the IPL 2020 auction and has since been a crucial member of the team. Cummins had played each of the Knight Riders’ seven games in the opening half of this year’s IPL in India, when Covid-19 instances in several of the squad players caused a postponement, taking nine wickets and scoring 93 runs, including a career-best 66 not out that gave the Super Kings a fright in Mumbai.
The Knight Riders, who are now one slot off the bottom of the table with four points from seven games, will begin their season on September 20 in Abu Dhabi against the Royal Challengers.

Kapil Dev nudges government for removal of duty on sports equipment
Former India captain Kapil Dev has expressed his views on sports infrastructure and facilities. He believes that eliminating duty on sporting goods will help the country develop more champions. This, according to Kapil Dev, will allow more children to afford the merchandise and participate in the sport.
Aditi Ashok, an Indian golfer who finished fourth in the Olympics but missed out on a medal, reportedly stated that she was unable to use the government’s TOP plan because she qualified for the Tokyo Games only 60 days before the main event. When asked how the government might assist golfers, Kapil Dev, a board member of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), emphasised the necessity of abolishing the duty on sports equipment and how it will benefit athletes in all sports.
“If you abolish the levy on sporting goods, it will be the most important thing, whether it is badminton, table tennis, or golf. There are so many things (to buy) for young people who wish to go into those (sports), such as spikes, shoes, and so on. It is not a large sum of money for the country to charge duty on sports equipment; yet, if they do so, it will have a significant impact on the sport,” Kapil explained.
“Infrastructure is the most essential area in which the government can assist; the remainder is handled by the private sector. We don’t expect to be able to get everything from the government. We, like our company, should be self-sufficient (PGTI). We’ll try to make it easier for the kids to come out and play, and who knows, maybe we’ll receive a medal like Neeraj (Chopra). No one could have predicted that. How many young children can afford a javelin that costs a lakh?”
“The only thing we can ask of the government is that no taxes be imposed on sports equipment such as sneakers,” he continued.

Mzansi Super League: Fan2Play Fantasy App
The Mzansi Super League (MSL) is South Africa’s top Twenty20 (T20) cricket competition. It is made up of six franchise teams from various South African cities. The tournament’s first edition took place from November 16 to December 16, 2018. Cricket South Africa (CSA) established the league in 2018. The South African Broadcasting Corporation was hired by the CSA to broadcast all MSL matches in South Africa and Global Sports Commerce (GSC) was named the exclusive worldwide commercial and broadcast partner.
The Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket event in South Africa will be held for the third time in 2021. It was originally slated for November 2020, but owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed until 2021. This season, two new teams have been announced to compete. The game is played in a double round-robin and knockout format. Each team will play every other team twice, once at home and once away. The top of the points table will advance directly to the final at the end of the league stage, while the second and third-placed teams will face in an eliminator, with the victor advancing to the final as the second team.
“Mzansi” is an isiXhosa word, the Bantu language of the Xhosa, one of the official languages of South Africa, that literally means “south,” but in slang it refers to the country of South Africa, suggesting something unique and indigenous. The local flavour of the league has been a key part of CSA’s rebranding following last season’s failure, but it hasn’t extended to the teams, who have all been given more generic names such as,
Jozi Stars Tshwane Spartans Durban Heat Cape Town Blitz Paarl Rocks Nelson Mandela Bay Giants
There’s an entire XI of retired, remarkable and Kolpak players to watch at this competition, including AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir, JP Duminy, Kyle Abbott, Duanne Olivier, Hardus Viljoen, Simon Harmer, Dane Vilas, and Heino Kuhn. Even while the depth of the domestic structure is being questioned, it may not be the best moment to look at the ones who got away, it’s still a reminder of the native potential South Africa has. The Mzansi Super League is a significant step forward in South Africa’s cricket development. They are latecomers to the T20 league, but they appear to be succeeding on their second try, which means that cricket will reach a wider South African public than it has before. The MSL could break new ground in terms of the South African cricket-watching population, with SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) claiming daily viewership estimates of 28 million on their TV channels and a 72 percent stake in the radio airways in South Africa. Cricket’s audience was mostly middle-class and virtually entirely white twenty years ago. Much has happened since then, but the future looks even more inclusive and varied if the MSL survives and thrives. Fan2Play provides a very exciting way to enjoy Mzansi Super League Fantasy because of its user-friendly design, flexible squad selection and a unique feature called Fan2Play Challenge Fantasy game where we can build our team with as few as 2, 3, or 4 players.
