Hey I'm curious how are some fans all about cloud and aerith but they can't stand Zack and aerith. I'm thinking Zack and aerith are the better ship or am I tripping .

You're not tripping, my friend hahaha 😊 Shipping the non-canon is subjective, and kept in that lane, it's fine. But plot is objective, and FF7's plot blatantly spells out for us that the real story ships are Zack & Aerith and Cloud & Tifa. Clerith (like any other non-canon ship) is the result of one of three things:

1. A simply subjective "I think these two characters work well romantically" view (which is all well and fine - everyone's entitled to their opinion and can enjoy what they like);

2. A genuine failure to distinguish between narrative and plot - ie. misunderstanding the story and its characters (see my earlier ask if you're interested in Cloud's arc); or

3. A purposeful interjection of one's subjective opinion into the story ("I want X and Y in a romantic relationship, so I'll try force the story to be that way" - the problem, of course, being that the story is not that way).

Do you think that the Cleriths will vacate the fandom or at least come to terms with their ship being fanon once Rebirth and Reunion are out?

I think they'll tell the devs to go fuck themselves, say they were betrayed, harass anybody who reminds them this is how it always was and then backtrack and claim Aerith will come back to life in part three as the ultimate "had them in the first half" and then when that doesn't happen it'll be rinse repeat and total meltdown like they did when GoT "betrayed them" by killing Dany and Jon being disgusted he banged his aunt and being the one to off her. Calli is probably still flipping out about it 🤣

Thing is, when you have canon on your side, you don't spend all of your time being an asshole and trying to convince people to buy your bullshit on the strength of "trust me bro" because you have viable sources to reference as actual proof.

We're gonna be enjoying the game while they scream and cry and hopefully fuck off.

There's so many “new Cleriths” on Twitter just this month...or should I say alts? LOOOOL They aren't fooling anyone we all know it's the same 10 crazies from their little DokiDokiCult creating new accounts to harass Clotis and real fans of the game, and all of this just because they are scared of CCR and part 2. Pathetic.

They're terrified of TGS in September because SE will undoubtedly reveal more Crisis Core Reunion, Rebirth and Ever Crisis and it'll bust holes in their lies because they know the plot doesn't favour them but they keep lying their asses off because they get off on manipulating people.

They don't play or like the game and just wanna fuck Cloud. They should fuck off already and go back to their incesty GoT or jump on Yasahime since they love paedophilia/grooming too.

Hopefully they won't be too loud for much longer. They'll die of embarrassment when Rebirth drops and shows they were wrong about everything, but they're too stubborn to drop out before that happens.

Surely cleriths realize that the rest of the story has already been scripted for the trilogy beforehand, or are they so desparate like Jairus for the devs to bend the knee to them lest it shatters the earth, like what kind of show do they think this is? It's true tweaks can be and are made here and there, but that's not the same as changing a whole storyline

Nope. They and Jairus are all so fucking dumb they think the devs will write it as they film the mocap and animate everything. Nojima finished the script for rebirth ages ago and has written part three already too. Without his finished work nobody can mocap anything and Nomura said they're already working on part three, meaning they have a script.

But these are the same people who think Hamaguichi is the highest authority over his boss, Creative Director Nomura, the literal writer, Nojima, and the Producer, Kitase. Not to mention Kitase is FF brand manager, on the board of directors and a VP of the company. And that'll before I remind everyone he literally came up with Tifa's save for Cloud on the Shinra building rooftop and said it was something he always wanted to do for her.

So now Cleriths are saying that Cloud was the one that saw Tifa as a trophy?? When in ToTP that was about the other kids in the village? Why tf are they so insistent on making Cloud an asshole?? Can they leave him tf alone? Like why would Nojima write the main character and hero of the game to be like that?? So disgusting! I need them to stop ruining every character in this game and leave the fandom.

They're citing the wrong pages because they haven't read the book and just steal random ones from us which don't have the page numbers because we have and have read the book so don't need to include the order of events using page numbers.

Do you really think they'll make Zerith canon? Half of the fandom would get totally mad and they'll start saying the Remake is not canon like they did with Crisis Core.

Zerith already is canon, the only people who ever say otherwise are the people who don't think Crisis Core is canon. But Crisis Core is canon, and the moment they say stuff like "ignore Crisis Core" (which I've actually heard them say), they're basically admitting Zerith is canon. SE didn't care then, they don't care now. For the more casual player the question is not whether Zack and Aerith were a thing, or even whether Aerith has a thing for Zack at the start of FFVII, they were and she does, only the most rabid shipper would deny it. The question is whether Aerith gets over Zack and falls for Cloud instead. When that question pops op they'll inevitably quote maiden, which basically shows you how delusional you have to be to still hold onto the idea that Aerith prefers Cloud over Zack, when your ship requires you to pretend that Crisis Core isn't canon, but Maiden is. Personally, I don't think it matters much, it's not impressive to beat a 5 year old memory. Even if Aerith does "get over Zack" through Cloud, that doesn't mean that she'd have preferred Cloud over Zack if both had been available. Even directly believing you straight up prefer the person you're with over someone you haven't seen in 5 years doesn't mean much, since you're unlikely to be impartial in the matter. What matters in the end is that Aerith and Zack are dead, and Cloud and Tifa are not. It took Aerith 5 years to get over Zack, I can assure you that when she's reunited with Zack, getting over Cloud would take a fraction of that. SE has two perfectly viable couples here, both with massive followings, both with histories, and both located together both physically, and emotionally. Cloti and Zerith tie up all loose ends, allowing the story, and the characters to end without anything feeling incomplete. If Remake is an attempt at "finalizing" FFVII, then SE would be insane not to make use of that. Conversely, Clerith leaves both Tifa and Zack hanging from a romantic narratological perspective. In the original game, Zack wasn't that important of a character, but he is now, people love Zack, and it shows in the remake, they know people love Zack, because Zacks introduction shot has the cinematography and sound design of a returning hero. And what is Zacks current raison d'etre? It's getting back to Aerith. For the games to end that quest by effectively saying "that didn't lead anywhere, Aerith is into Cloud now, and Zacks story ends with him basically just being ok with that" would feel extremely unsatisfying, it would beg the question "why did we invest all that time then"? Reunion is a returning theme in FFVII, Tifa reunites with Cloud in the lifestream sequence, but we still haven't seen Aerith and Zack reunite. We've seen them afterwards, like in ACC, but the moment where they meet again has sadly been denied to us with the exception of the underwhelming mess that was maiden who traveled the planet. But Maiden isn't canon and the writing shows it when it has Zack and Aeriths reunion be focused on Cloud more than it focuses on they themselves. Having the lives of all orbiting characters revolve around the 'center of the universe' MC is a staple of bad fan-fiction writing.

There is no doubt in my mind that we will see that reunion this time around and done properly. There is no way to do that in a way that's in character that does not make it painfully obvious they still love each other. Anything else would not just be out of character, but disappointing writing, if you set-up two characters who have been searching or waiting for each other for 5 years, and then not give that a proper pay-off, you've failed as a writer. Zerith was always canon, and remake will show that it remains canon even after death.
