Since Slain week is coming in a few days do yall think it’s appropriate for me to make a Instagram story about it and tag Rebecca Yarros just to let her now ( I mean she has noticed me once 😭)

Ever since *Fourth Wing* first came out, I’ve seen people compiling statistics about how many times Dain touched Violet's face—or touched her in general—in the first book. I think the count was around 24. Even now, people still associate him touching her with him reading her memories.

But recently, I started thinking about it: the majority of the times Dain touched her, he didn’t actually read her memories or anything. He was completely oblivious to everything. He was genuinely confused to hear that Violet and Xaden were a thing by the end of *Fourth Wing*. If you think about it, he knew absolutely nothing. Even Violet mentioned that Dain used to touch her like that even before Basgiath.

So, what’s the point of my post? I think people are over-villainizing Dain. Yes, he did read her memories, but not all 24 times he touched her.

Random thought of the day but are we considering Dain and Sloane non-canon or canon? Like Rebecca Yarros herself confirmed that Dain and Sloane will be romantically involved which would make them canon but many think that ships that haven’t happened yet are non-canon so I don’t really now

2. The bad news is the is that the interview is in October which is 5 months away
