A While Away
Good afternoon to everyone. I sincerely apologise for being away and inactive here. Firstly, I was sick and now I'm under a treatment to cure food allergies and other problems that were affecting me indirectly thanks to those allergies. Secondly, I was approved in my exam from a while ago, and with everything, I'm also working on my field, and studying more now than when I was in College. (´;w;`) So, again, I really apologise for my absence. I will return to write my fanfic as soon as my health is back to normal and the work less stressful. I restrictly use a phone, but mine broke between these days, so hopefuly I will get it fixed, or a new one, to have more acess here again. TwT I wish you all a good night and be back in a while.
#to delete later#or when I return#sorry again#but oh well#secondary events happen and we can get caught by surprise#I will write again in no time

Chapter 2 - Connections
When Namie finished her task, it was night time. “I’m done for today.” She picked her stuff and walked towards the exit. Izaya, who was working with deep researchs in the network, gave her a content, but unsatisfied look. “Namie, tomorrow you’ll need to come earlier. You’ll be the one delivering the letters on the mail.” Unnecessary to say how many times Namie has killed Izaya in her thoughts, but not expressing her annoyance, she turned at him and nodded once. “Understood.” She left the office with a deep sigh, but the amount Izaya payed her for all the work was worth the inconvenience. “Haha… It’ll be great.” Izaya was a light sleeper, so he spent almost the entire night working, calling it a day when 3 a.m. was ticked in the clocks. “Oh, I should get some sleep.~” he stood up and headed upstairs, towards his bedroom, made for that mere purpose of spending the night in his office. “Hmm… I wonder at which extend it’ll affect this town…” After he was ready and laying on the bed, he couldn’t resist in taking another look in the network he was part of. “Oh?~ There is something going on…” He observed the combo between people of the chat, and a curious information came across his eyes. “Did you see that guy on the station? He seemed lost.” Raising an eyebrow, he continued to read. “That taller guy just arrived, and I think it was his first time here.” The other user decided to speak. “He was weird… I saw him grabbing a sign post and taking it off the ground with his bare hands!” Izaya decided to join the conversation with one of his fake, female accounts. “With his bare hands? Aren’t you exaggerating?” He narrowed his eyes when people responded with a picture of the broken post lying on the ground. “There’s the proof. I was too astonished to take a picture of the man before he left. But he was taller and blond.” When the other users confirmed it, Izaya logged out and placed his phone on the charger. “Seems like someone has decided to play… But I’ll have it checked by tomorrow.” Closing his eyes, he fell asleep, until Seven o’ clock. The sun was shining bright in the clear sky, and Izaya was up washing his face, preparing for the day that was ahead. “Time to start the game.” Namie arrived not too long ago, and was getting ready to take the letters to their destination. "I’m heading out.” Namie said and walked outside, as soon as Izaya walked outside of the bathroom, wearing his usual, formal clothes. “Time to get started.” He walked outside, decided do investigate the information people shared on the net last night. The streets were full of life, people walking and minding their own business while speaking on their phones. It was a lovely scene for someone that enjoyed to meddle in others’ lives. “It’s like a giant web, surrounded by tiny spiders working to keep it firm and alive. Yet, little they know about the big spider that created this web… An unknown source, capable of breaking the tinniest piece of the web and sending all the little ones in despair and confusion…" He ceased his steps in front of the library, where people were gathered for some reason. A reason that cristalized in front of his eyes with a strong desire to find out what was going on in this city: many sign posts and guardrails were intertwined in an odd format that gave the impression of a picturesque figure, similar to a human being extending its hand towards the sky. His eyes widened in admiral, and his mind focused on digging out all the information he could obtain about that new 'phenomenon' in Ikebukuro.

Chapter 1 - The Thread of Life
The world is a place where many lives are given and taken every second. An infinite cycle with an extrinsic caracteristic, having time and place to occur, independently of the subject that falls in the web of the death.
And in Ikebukuro, a city located in the land of the rising sun, life isn’t any different. People taking care of their business, leisure, health, education… And death. In the hospital bed, many lives await to be taken when no treatment could save them from an undenied fate. And a certain man, observing these people to struggle with each breath taken, felt nothing but amusement.
“Amazing how humans can struggle so much to live… What drives them to keep going? Why are they so determined to continue their lives desperately?”
Orihara Izaya, a rich man living in the tallest and expensive apartment in downtown, and working on his office in an apartment around the same block, couldn’t help but wonder about the reason behind these questions. Is it a mere instinct driven in every creature? Does the living possess a soul? And is the soul responsible for this? Questions that had their own answers, according to the rich man. For each one, there were different answers. But out of everything, there was one thing bothering the raven haired male: how about the humans that were closer to the ones on the edge of the death? Would they do everything on their reach to save their beloved ones? Can the possibility of a better condition and treatment give them a push for an attempt to save the sick, or will they succumb to their own greed and waste the opportunity with themselves, leaving their beloved ones to die?
Decided to prove his point, Izaya started a secret project. With the help of his assistant and secretary, Namie, he checked on the information of every single person hospitalized, seeing who could be saved with a better and expensive treatment, and who would die, as nothing else could be done.
“Namie, get two piles of blue envelopes for me. And two piles of green envelopes, in the same amount of people that are hospitalized.”
“Oh? And what are you planning to do with them?” Namie looked at him, curious to see what her boss had in mind.
“You’ll see. It’s a small project, and no one will know about its source. Do you understand?”
“Yes, I understand.” Namie walked outside of the office, and returned a while later, carrying two bags full of envelopes. “Here you go.” She dropped them on his desk.
Izaya just smirked at the sight, picking a blue envelope, and his wallet. “Now, watch and learn.~” he printed many papers with different messages, and took out a certain quantity of money. “This one says ‘I’m sorry for your unfortunate son. There is nothing that can be done, but here’s money for the funeral.’ Heh… They will break in tears.” Izaya laughed and continued what he was doing. Namie couldn’t comprehend where he wanted to get with such idea, but she watched in silent.
“Look, look, in a green envelope there’ll be a ‘Your grand daughter is young, and with this expensive treatment, she’ll live. That’s why money accompany this. Don’t throw her life away.’ Does it sounds too solidary? No one will find out the true intentions behind these acts of kindness.” When Izaya said that, Namie started to see where he wanted to get. Knowing her boss’ true nature, she could deduce the real intentions behind everything.
“Want to have some fun by watching what people will do with the money? Are you this bored?”
“Let’s say that I am.” leaning back on his chair, Izaya yawned and smiled, contemplating his plan. “Do me a favour and keep it up. Blue ones are death. Green ones are hope. The value of the treatment is in that paper. Once it’s done, separate all of them by the name of the pacients.”
Namie didn’t complain about the task, and she started it immediately.
“Hmm…~ I can’t wait to see their faces. Each one will react in a singular way, and it’ll be so funny.”
The young male stood up and walked towards the big window, staring at the little humans down the building. He was too excited for his own good, looking forward to watch a ‘good, live show’, using humans like his paws and creating a thread that will be hard to break.

After my first fanfic was completed, I’m moving to my next one, that is an AU of Durarara!! A Shizaya/Izuo story revolving around a millionaire and his curiosity about human behaviours, decided to test how they would react if given a choice, and a homeless wanderer seeking for a place to belong, to call it home. The title of the story is “When a Peasant Met His Twin Flame”.

In Portuguese, we would use the word "bisbilhotar" to have the same/similar meaning for it.
do other languages not have an equivalent of the English verb ‘to eavesdrop’?
twos germans, a portuguese & an italian I know, not only didn’t know what the word meant, but said their languages don’t have a word for it after i explained.

Why is Kanji Necessary?
So many people in my class keep saying “why do I need to learn Kanji when I can just write in hiragana?” There are soooo many reasons why, but here are just a few of my favorites:
Makes it easier to read Japanese sentences. OK you might be thinking “how does it make it easier to read? It’s more confusing!” but please bear with me. I’m going to write two different sentences, and you see which one is easier to read: 昨日、お菓子を食べたり、ゲームをしたり、単語を勉強したりしました。 OR きのう、おかしをたべたり、ゲームをしたり、たんごをべんきょうしたりしました。The first one, right? Using Kanji makes it easier to differentiate words apart from each other while hiragana leaves you guessing where one word ends and where another begins.
You can always guess the meaning of a word by it’s Kanji. Each Kanji has a different meaning, when you put different Kanji together, the meanings of those Kanji can give you a gist of what the word means! Hiragana doesn’t do this. Let’s say for example you don’t know what 昨日 means. You can gather “context clues” from the fact that the first character means “previous” and that the second character means “day”. You can guess from those two that the word means “yesterday”.
Kanji is everywhere. If you’ve seen any photos of Japan (namely the cities), you’ll see Kanji everywhere. Might as well learn it. Not only that, but it’s also found in books and in writing everywhere, not only signs.
Tips & Tricks
Don’t study just the meaning, Kun-yomi, and On-yomi. I made this mistake for the first few Kanji quizzes I ever took and it kicked my ass. It made me second guess everything I was writing and I would just get extremely frustrated.
Instead, study example words using that Kanji. In my experience, it is so much easier to study different words that use that Kanji. Say your character has 3 different sayings; learn those words and when the Kanji comes up, go through those words and find the best saying for it!
Learn the radicals. Radicals are pretty much just smaller characters that make up the bigger character! Often times, when you see a Kanji you don’t know, you can depict the meaning from the radical. You can use this list to guide you in learning the radicals.
Use the radicals and make up stories. This is something that my first Japanese teacher told us to do. She told us to, after we learn the radicals, think of a story to help us remember that kanji. For example, the Kanji for “day of the week” is 曜. My teacher would tell us “during the week, a feathered(羽) bird(隹) would fly over the sun(日)”. Now whenver I write it, I think about the radicals for “sun”, “feather”, and “small bird”.
Keep learning Japanese fun! I can’t stress this one enough! If you don’t love the language you’re learning and you dread learning it, you’re not going to learn it to the best of your ability. So keep it fun! Don’t stress yourself out with Kanji, it can take years to learn a good amount of them, so don’t stress yourself out if you can’t find the time to do 10 a day!
Keep a Learning Journal: Keeping a journal is a great thing to do when you’re learning anything. It’ll help you keep track of your studies and, if you’re ever feeling down in the dumps, show you how far you’ve come and motivate you to continue learning!
Methods
Obviously, to learn Kanji, you’re not going to get much use out of using a Mind map to study them. There’s simply too many characters and you’ll end up drowning in paper. Instead, try one of the following methods:
Flashcards: There are multiple ways that you can make flashcards out of Kanji. My personal favorite is to put the Kanji character on the front and the meaning and readings on the back. Quiz yourself daily for 5-10 (or longer if you’re up to it) while switching off. I like to use a piece of scratch paper and quiz myself on the writing as well. This method also works well with Memrise or Anki.
Read: Reading articles online will get you exposed to not only Kanji, but new vocabulary words, and will help you get a better feel for the language. Children’s books, magazines, and newspapers will also have furigana attached to difficult Kanji so they’re easily readable (One website that I use is News Web Easy). I also practice my writing by writing down the article in a notebook and highlight the words I do and don’t know (you can see an example of one of my notebooks here)
Write: Write the Kanji over and over and over until you get it! I usually like to do this while saying the Kun-yomi and On-yomi as well as the meaning. I find that pronouncing them works better than saying them in your head, so if you’re in a position that you can do so, please do! Writing a single Kanji 10 times a day will really help you remember it for later on.
Use Apps: Use apps on the app store or google play store to study up on Kanji! I currently use Obenkyo.
My personal favorite method? Writing. I spend a good hour or so every day studying Kanji by writing out example paragraphs and sentences using Kanji characters that I know. Not only does it help me with vocabulary, but it also allows me learn the different sounds a particular Kanji makes. For Example, the Kanji 食 means "eat” or “food”. You can pronounce it with any of the following sounds: く、た、は、ショク、or ジキ. Now, I could just learn the sounds and not have to spend x hours a day working on example sentences. However, if I know that I can make the following words with this specific Kanji, then I know that that Kanji can also be pronounced with any of those sounds: く:食う、た:食べ物、は:食む、ショク:食堂、ジキ:断食. Now that is a lot easier than learning the sounds only.
I really hope that this helps those of you struggling with Kanji. If you have noticed any mistakes in this or would like you add your own, please feel free to do so!

End of Year
The end of this year came fast. Fast as I could hope for. And so does my course and exams. I was approved on the exam I took last Sunday, and that should be it. \(^-^)/ but it's a two-phases exam, so I'm taking the second phase in January, 15th. College is over, but courses will be available even in Holidays weeks (except on days 12/25 and 01/01). Which leads me to a not-completely vacation until I'm done with this exam and with its approval. ^~^" So, I'll be on hiatus until this day. After that, I'll work on a fanfic I had started plotting before and resume posting it with more frequence. :3 Until then, I wish everyone a good end of the year! ^_^ December is the edge of renoval, a new begining of year with a memorable ending of the old year. Looking back, many good and bad things happened. Both are in our past, but the effective way to look up into a bright future is to keep the good things in our heart as we go on with life. Good things lead to positive thoughts, and makes it easy for us to see which path is the best to walk into. It doesn't make you feel bad about your choices in the past, as many doors are open for us. That's why I tell you: enjoy the present time as much as you can, because it's a time that will stay in your memory and your past. Have a great December, everyone!
#i'm very happy that i got approved!#but it's hard to say goodbye#sometimes#i'll do it the best way i can show how i appreciated all these years under their teaching#and settle what I will do after my approval so i can keep track of the path i had chose long ago#happy end of the year to everyone! <3
