My thoughts about [ On the Way to the Wedding ]
Tumblr media
I love Lucy; she's not quite like the other female leads. She's someone who craves order; she doesn't rebel; she puts others' happiness above her own. We see it on multiple occasions that she's prepared to sacrifice herself just so her brother and best friend will continue to live in ignorant bliss, and yes, that portraits her as somewhat meek compared to others, especially seeing how Hyacinth calls her week.
Which I think is unfair. Hyacinth was raised in a different environment than Lucy; she was loved, pampered, given the freedom of choice, and even spoiled to an extent, which is not the norm for women of that time. We don't know how Hyacinth would've reacted, being in the same shoes as Lucy.
But I love her, maybe because I somewhat connect to her since, as a woman we don't always have the luxury of saying no, and Lucy is the same, she tried to say "no" but was then manipulated by her uncle's words into submission.
Gregory Bridgerton is the fourth son; he's not Anthony, who has the authority and power that comes with being the eldest born; he's not Benedict, who uses his artistic talents to make a name for himself; and he's not Colin, who has his abundant charm and traveling experience. He's just Gregory, just Mister Bridgerton, and he doesn't seem to mind, really.
Gregory wanted love for the longest time, he's a believer. Maybe that's why he was initially infatuated with Hermione, she represents this picture-perfect dream girl that he can't help but fall in love with.
He had even made her laugh.
She hadn’t made him laugh, but he wasn’t so certain she’d been trying to, and besides, he had certainly smiled. On more than one occasion.
This part is always so interesting to me because it's like he's trying to keep convincing himself that Hermione is, in fact, what he wants. She didn't make him laugh, but wasn't she trying to make him laugh? She made him smile. Wasn't that enough?
To me, Gregory and Lucy are the definition of: She fell first, but he fell harder, so hard that he rushed to the altar to stop her wedding, so hard that he was prepared to take the bullet and die if only Lucy could walk out of that room safe.
Moral of their story: Instant infatuation is not love.
Also it's absolutely hilarious that they have nine kids I mean commonnnnn nineeeee ( I say with love !!! )

Though the two had so little scenes together, Edwina and the Queen’s dynamic was so good. It really just helped bring season 2 that much more over the top.
Edwina, who was born and raised in India, impoverished and under colonial rule. She comes to England to find an English husband, for love and for her dreams. And The Queen, whose a symbol of all the things Edwina wants, makes her the diamond of the season.
While the Queen chose Edwina for her own reasons, she also had trust in Edwina that she would not be Whistledown, something she could not say about her own court or subjects. So she put her faith and good word into Edwina.
Because Queen Charlotte is many things, but she is NOT just going to just pick anyone. She still saw something special in Edwina, graceful and educated and kind and what she refers to as sparkling.
Then Queen Charlotte wanted to guide Edwina, help raise her up into society.
And it means so much to Edwina that the queen choose her. That the queen making Edwina the Diamond is more important than what any suitor could say to flatter.
And when Edwina feels like she is not good enough she even questions if the Queen made the wrong decision choosing Edwina, because that’s how much the Queen’s esteem and favor means to her.
Then the queen offers to host Edwina’s dream wedding (yes for her own motives,) but she also knew this girl, whose a foreigner, whose own mother eloped and fled society probably would have settled for a small affair.
Then the scene with King George? “She will make a most beautiful bride?” MY HEART.
Edwina’s admiration and respect for the queen is so devoted and true AND SHE WASNT EVEN FROM THAT COUNTRY. And it might have been one of the most sincerest interactions the Queen has had in who knows how long because her subjects fear her and they all worry about impressing her or offending her. While Edwina genuinely has so much high regard for Charlotte as both a ruler and as a woman.
Charlotte even offers to let Edwina try on the CROWN JEWELS!!!!
Charlotte helps Edwina’s family and her formal betrothed’s family avoid scandal!!! Even though they made the queen look like a laughing stock in the Society papers and with Whistledown! THEN helps them again when Kate and Anthony furthered that scandal at the ball!
THEN Charlotte even invites Edwina to marry into her family by trying to set her up with the Prince PLEASE

I'm sorry but I find this so funny for some reason.
So apparently, when Chris Fulton was cast as Phillip Crane, he had no idea he was a future spouse. He just thought Phillip was going to be a minor character. He approached Julia Quinn one day while filming, asking her if his character ever popped up in any of the other books. I think it was said he had just started reading the Duke and I, so he didn't know yet that Phillip wasn't in that one.
Julia Quinn told him that yeah, Phillip was in the fifth book, To Sir Phillip, with Love.
Sir! You're the only spouse with your name in the title. No one even mentioned it to him.
I wanna know how fast he got that book after.

it’s the way he looks so proud of himself when he says he misses her. like he’s finally said the right thing that will bring his pen back instead of whoever he’s talking to right now. the pen who smiles and blushes when he pays her a compliment. who hangs on his every word and makes him feel ten feet tall. well sorry col, but that penelope can’t come to the phone right now. she’s never gonna look at you that way again. but if you’re lucky, and you are, she’ll look at you in a way where she sees you for exactly who you are and loves every bit of it.

what makes me actually boil with rage is the way it’s framed as though jacob & the cullens have an even rivalry and like, he hates them just as much as they hate him, but like… jacob is a lower class kid who lives on the rez, the cullens live in a plantation home on private property. jacob calling alice a leech is an insult, but alice calling him a mongrel calls into power and privilege, ya know. like am i supposed to honestly think jake making blonde jokes to rosalie (which is certainly sexist and uncalled for) is on the same level as her serving him food in a dog dish? him seeing the cullens as bloodsuckers and murderers is just like, incorrect and unfair, but them seeing him as uncivilized and over-aggressive has implications deeply rooted in the oppression of his people

If there was ever a GG reboot (and no there shouldn’t be one)
I have a few ideas who may be able to take over the iconic roles:
Disclaimer: I made this post for fun, for absolutely just “What ifs” and before Buzzfeed made one (if they haven’t already) this post deserves absolutely no hate and I kindly ask everyone to respond nicely or just ignore it.
Lorelai Gilmore:
Christin Milioti
Melissa Benoist
Appearance:
Katie McGrath
Vanessa Kirby
Natalie Dormer
Liz Giles
Tumblr media
I have no idea who could potray Rory Gilmore but I have a list of people who absolutely shouldn’t be considered:
(Not because these actresses are untalented, or because they were on popular shows/series, but just because they feel wrong for the role)
❌ Millie Bobby Brown
❌ Storm Reid
❌ Josephine Langford
❌ Emily Alyn Lind
❌ Jenna Ortega (though I think she would be quite decent fit for the role)
The only two people I could ever MAYBE see play Rory Gilmore is either:
1) Maude Apatow
2) Amandla Stenberg
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luke Danes:
Rahul Kohli or Paul Mescal or Trevante Rhodes
Tumblr media
Emily Gilmore:
Tumblr media
Joan Cusack or Kathryn Hann or the amazing Jessica Lange
(This was TOO HARD to even think about.)
Sookie St James:
Aidy Bryant
Tumblr media
Christopher:
Chance Crawford
Tumblr media
Dean Forester:
Drew Starkey
Tumblr media
Kirk:
Matthew Gray Gubler
Tumblr media
Babbitt:
Natasha Lyonne
(No further explanation needed.)
