There is still hope. Say it out loud. Palestine will be free. The Palestinian people will celebrate their culture and heritage with each other. We will love and be loved. Do not fall into the trap of despair.

What was unique about the Nazis was that they “modernized” genocide. They industrialized the mass production of death. While there have been even more devastating genocides in history, they weren’t committed with the speed and efficiency of the assembly line. That is a Nazi innovation.

I fear, no I know the escalation of the genocide in Gaza and the West Bank has already surpassed the mechanical efficiency and speed of the Holocaust. Israel has further modernized genocide, introducing new technologies and tactics that can kill many in seconds instead of hours.

Much like the concentration camp was a byproduct of Germany’s earlier imperialist ventures in Africa, the use of advanced military technology against civilians is a byproduct of the War on Terror.

There are grim consequences to advancing new methods of genocide that will reverberate throughout the future of humanity. But much like Germany’s defeat triggered a wave of anticolonial and revolutionary movements across the world, so too will Israel’s defeat.
