i don't think people really understand what's happening in gaza. with each passing day that sees more and more palestinians dead, it's becoming easier and easier for those in the west to perceive them as nothing more than a statistic. they might engage w the occasional palestine post, sure, but it's just as easy to scroll right past that moments later w no real outrage for the genocide retained.
it's vital to stay reminded that palestinians who are with us today won't be with us tomorrow. it's happening every second of every minute of every hour, and it's relentless. somewhere in gaza a little girl is losing her mother, a little boy is watching his siblings bleed to death, elderly people are infirm with starvation and illness, palestinian women and girls are being sexually assaulted and kept in cages, fathers are leaving tents to find food for their families and not coming back. this is all happening right now, and it's a direct result of the west's complacency. it's a direct result of their not seeing arabs as people worth saving.
it might be hard to compute as a westerner, but this is real. don't let your privilege blind you to your humanity.

in light of israel's looming invasion on rafah, south africa implored the icj to call for the protection of palestinians with new preliminary orders. the icj denied this request, insisting that its january orders would be sufficient in ensuring the safety of people residing in rafah.
we have all seen how israel responded to the icj verdict earlier this month. they have all but intensified their attacks on palestinians, their favorite of whom seem to be children. this will end in a bloodbath. palestinians, already malnourished and living in literal tents, will be bombarded, they will be shot, they will be slaughtered. and when i say palestinians, a lot of them are actual toddlers. the videos coming out of this are proof enough.
at this point, it has been made amply clear that palestinians will never experience safety in their own homeland. a lot of the families in gaza are trying to raise funds to get out of it, because there's nowhere left to go.
there is nowhere left to go. if these people don't get the funds necessary to escape, they will die.
it's vital that you go to operation olive branch's spreadsheet, choose a family that resonates with you, and donate as much as you can to their gofundme. every last dollar counts. one dollar could be the difference between life and death for a family. please don't fall victim to the bystander effect. your contribution matters, however little it may be. and whether you're able to donate or not, spread this to as many people as you can. each second we stay silent is a second an entire family is brutally massacred.

NEW UPDATE: TWO NEW CAMPS!
There are two new camps, made of about 240 families, built up around the one on Hussam's land due to the numerous refugees coming to Rafah. Hussam said that the nights are so cold and windy, the kids get frightened at night from the way the sand blows and scratches against the tents. So, he decided to buy 500 blankets for the surrounding camp residents!
Also, he plans on focusing on food next, with the next few days dedicated to spending on a variety of food items. The prices and supply for these are continuously changing but as of February 16th, one package of food costs about $33. Here is a breakdown of what they contain:
Lentils- 2 kilo
Rice- 2 kilo
Pasta- 1 kilo
Oil- 1 liter
Cheese- 4 cans
Tomato Sauce- 360 gram
Ful (Beans)- 4 cans
Let's help him out as much as possible! Thank you for everything so far!
For those of you who have been following this, my tumblr 'helpgazachildren' was deleted for unknown reasons. In the meantime, I put together this notion site to help document all the receipts and videos of updates for people who want a backlog of information. I will be continuously updating this site. Here is the archived version.
Please consider donating today. Your donations go directly to people in need with NO middle man in between. No donation amount is too little, or if you're unable to donate please spread the link today!!!
For those who cannot donate through paypal, here is Hussam's gofundme! Please note that Paypal is still the preferred way to pay!

hi if it’s okay i saw you were boosting fundraisers for Gaza and wanted to check if you’d be willing to boost this spreadsheet put together by Jenan Matari on IG. i made this post just cause she’s on IG and while she’s got a huge following there i kno some ppl just dont use certain platforms and wanted to spread it around here since its a huge list of folks in need for various reasons. i dont have a big following myself but still wanted to try. i understand its not just one person so any vetting is more difficult to do so understandable if you dont want to spread it around tho: https://www.tumblr.com/nonbinarymerbabe/741436918492987392/jenanmatari-posted-this-on-ig-she-and-a-friend
Here's the list:
Kareem Abu Samra: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (43k out of 77k needed in USD)
Natasha Matar. Unsure, tried to contact the person in charge, the message bounced. Check if Jenan Matari herself has verified it or posted about it. Link.
Haya Hijazi: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (108k out of 120k needed in Euros)
Amer Qudaih: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (5k out of 10k needed in USD)
Rashida Alfaoimy: I think legitimate fundraiser. Link. (12k out of 85k needed in USD)
Ula El Hindi: This one's already verified by GoFundMe since it is being organized and sponsored by a verified NGO. Link. (4k out of 15k needed in Euros)
Muhammad Safi: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (2k out of 30k needed in British pounds)
Yazan Khalaf: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (3k out of 50k needed in USD.)
Afaf Masoud: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (14k out of 40k needed in Euros)
Islam Daher: Not enough info to verify. Doesn't look like a scam. Link.
Qasim Alkafarneh: Not enough info to verify. Doesn't look like a scam. Link.
Motasem Khayal: Not enough info to verify. Doesn't look like a scam. Link.
Mohammed Abu Malan: I think legitimate fundraiser. Link. (1k out of 26k needed in Euros.)
Ahmed Saleh: I think legitimate fundraiser. Link. (5k out of 50k needed in Euros)
Salwa Zarifa: Not enough info to verify. Doesn't look like a scam. Link.
Al Ghandour family: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (27k out of 100k needed in USD)
Motasem Quffa: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (4k out of 10k needed in Euros)
Adel Al-Zaharna: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (goal reached, likely still needs sustained support for survival until they can exist)
Mahmoud Al-Gharabli: Legitimate fundraiser. Link. (29k out of 57k needed in USD)
In conclusion, most of these are legit, and none of these are verifiably scams. The ones that I haven't been able to verify can still very well be legit.
For all those who want to check the rest themselves, here's the list.
If you're going to contact any of the representatives of the fundraisers that I couldn't verify, PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL. You never know what's happening with their friends or family. I'm not an ultimate authority on this either, this is just what I can tell to the best of my ability.

A Palestinian father playfully balances his son on his right hand at the beach in Gaza City early one evening.
The coast of Gaza has grown increasingly popular over the years. It had always been a sight for weary eyes but with Israel’s siege denying Gazans the freedom to move, its seemingly endless seascape offers, for many, a very tangible escape, even if only temporal. It has also become a very popular family destination. Entire meals are prepared, served, and eaten here, and it is not uncommon to stay the night, father, son, and all.

Noury, a Palestinian artist currently in Palestine, is as of today (February 4th 2024) having a fundraiser to help with her and her families surgeries. Noury alone has no right eye, an open cheek & forehead, a fractured wrist. She and her family were in a school and were targeted by tank missiles. She has had these injuries for months now.
Tumblr media
From Noury: Hey everyone... I'm terrified for my family's situation so I set up a fundraiser if anyone would like to help us with our surgeries and situation. It would mean the world if you took a look, considered donating, and shared with friends. I love you all

I'll be supporting the strike and avoid posting art this week, but I'm hesitant to share donation links as we know most aid is stuck outside palestine even according to Bisan. Call reps and strike and protest all you can in any way you can

What did you do while the children of Gaza were dying?
I argued with their killers.
What did you say?
I said that the innocent deserve innocence. That the sound of laughter is better than nightmares, and briefer. That the cost of killing may be higher than the price of dying.
Did they listen?
Do killers ever listen? They are deafened by their weapons’ drone and by the grate of their own voices raging, denying.
Why were they angry?
They said that they needed to feel safe.
Safe from the children?
They said there are no children in Gaza, only young combatants.
And the babies?
They said they are little snakes that will grow, and it is better to kill them in their nests.
And what of the teachers? The singers? The artists? The fathers? The mothers?
They said that all who live there are terrorists. And as for the mothers, they said it is they who bear the little snakes.
Did your protestations do any good?
No. I lost my breath, I lost my words, I lost my heart. But had I not argued, I would have lost my soul.
Did any children survive?
In body, yes. In spirit, it is not sure.
The children who lived, what will become of them?
Their eyes will sear holes in the night sky. Remember this when you look at the stars:
that it is the burning eyes of Gaza’s children that hold your gaze.

A Gazan's reflection on the ICJ rule and his family who is still living in Gaza.
Reel link for those with instagram--comment in support/visibility if you can: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2kYzKbuzAy
Key takeaways, but please watch the reel. There are English captions.
Many Palestinians in Gaza (talking ordinary ppl, not influencers or activists) have been raised not to engage with politics. [I add for clarity, this is their parents trying to keep them safe] and as such may not have followed Western politics for the past few years.
Palestinians living in Gaza, including his family, genuinely thought this ruling could end the ongoing genocide. They had real hope that the ICJ could save them.
Many Gazans' hopes have completely evaporated as a result of the ICJ not calling for a ceasefire.
The ICJ ruling is an important start, but it is not enough for the hundreds who are dying each day as a result of this occupation.
We need to keep helping Gaza in any way we can.
Important: Mohammed, the creator of this video, has a GoFundMe for his family, which I have personally verified. Note that the narrative in the GFM is that of his brother Faress, a nurse at Al-Shifa hospital: https://www.gofundme.com/f/from-devastation-to-hope-a-nurses-family-journey
His family is currently living in a tent in Rafah after being displaced from Northern Gaza. Please donate if you can.
Mohammed's story was featured in the New York Times in November 2023 (un-paywalled) excerpt:
“Here I am having whatever I want,” said Mohammed Salah Arafat, a Washington, D.C., resident with a brother still in Gaza. “When it comes to food, when it comes to freedom, when it comes to rights, when it comes to freedom of movement, the feeling of guilt is killing me,” said Mr. Arafat, 30, who left Gaza in 2018.
Mohammed also has a poetry blog here: https://moharafat.wordpress.com/ and you can sign up for updates (like with substack or medium) if you input your email at the bottom of the page.
Don't stop demonstrating--find local actions from PYM, PSL, JVP, and SJP on Instagram, don't stop calling (It does help--leave your name and zip code so you're counted--Bernie just called for a ceasefire and Katherine Clark has come close), don't stop spreading awareness.
