Debunking The Problem With Warhammer 40k
“The Problem With Warhammer 40k” is a few months old video by Adam Something. And it has a lot of problems on its own. I will be skipping the introductory section which is entirely factual, running from 00:00 to 00:52. We now have GamerGators accusing the parent company Games Workshop of turning the game woke by introducing into it the most absurd creatures of it all: women. No, you bloody…

Character Comparison: Midoriya Izuku (Deku) vs Takemichi vs Allen Walker
My Hero Academia has a lot of problems. It is a good school series, but when it goes away from the stuff such as school competitions and daddy issues, its quality immediately drops down. It turns into a schizophrenic preachy social justice warrior series that cannot decide if its villains are amoral psychos or poor victims of the system. But its main flaw is actually its protagonist, and that is…

How Much Would Fantasy Stuff Cost
As saying goes, money makes the world turn. Some way of payment is absolutely necessary for existence of a complex society, and barter is simply impractical on large scale. In premodern history, precious metals – gold, silver and bronze – had shown themselves to be the most practical medium of exchange. And this has made its way to fantasy – but all too many fantasy writers do not really…

I have established that D.Gray-Man and Fairy Tail are almost one in the same (this is a long ramble, you can read it if you like, I would like that). There are spoilers for both though, so you have to be caught up in both to understand.
First of all is the characters. Each story has a favourite four main plus their little extra buddy (sorry Happy). For instance, Fairy Tail’s main are Lucy, Natsu, Gray and Erza + our little furry blue buddy, Happy. In D.Gray-Man, there’s Allen, Lavi, Lenalee and Kanda + Timcanpy. Although Allen’s team only actually becomes a ‘team’ in the “Noah’s Arc” arc, their still scene as the five main protagonists of the story, same as Team Natsu. I’m aware that Wendy joins later on as a very important character, but the bases of the story was still formed off of those five at first, starting with the “Lullaby” arc, and then again with Avatar (Avatar was basically restarting the story with these five members). The difference in this case is that, Fairy Tail follows two main human characters, Natsu and Lucy, and they have their other friends – Gray, Erza and, eventually, Wendy, being the main. But in D.Gray-Man, only Allen is followed while he goes on missions with other characters.
A lot of the characters are alike and have the same ideals. The only difference is, D.Gray-Man is more realistic, what with war and people dying. Fairy Tail has a lot of miracles and almost no one dies until later on. It had a lot more of a cheerful beginning (Lucy joining the guild of her dreams) but Allen had to watch with Officer Moa as an entire team of police officers die and he had to destroy the akuma that held her sister’s soul. Just from that, you could tell one story’ll be more morbid than the other.
Back to the characters; I’m going to end with Allen and Natsu, ‘K? So, I’ll start with Lenalee and Lucy then. Just the other day, I read this really interesting post someone put on Tumblr (I’m sorry! I forgot who DX ) about how, in Fairy Tail, each person’s magic related to their personality, which is so true. Lucy’s celestial magic, according to this person (I still feel bad about forgetting who put that up), was about bonds and how she bonds with her friends. Lucy has an extremely strong connection to all her friends in Fairy Tail and her celestial spirits. Lenalee also has an extremely strong connection to her friends, being that considers them ‘her world’. Any loss of that world, and she will slowly die along with it (this is why I made Lucy and Lenalee sisters in my crossover fanfic on Wattpad).
Erza and Kanda are also very much alike. Both hide away their terrible and agonizing past, never showing it to anyone. Both are the monsters of where they live, scary and controlling, and now that Kanda should become a general, they’re placed on the same ranking (Erza is S-Class). Both are extremely powerful too. The only difference is that Erza cares for her friends and shows it, she is a saviour, and she eventually got over the past. Kanda shows no feelings, he gets annoyed often, but deep down, he does sorta care. But he never got over the past, he hates the Black Order, more than the Noah or anything he fights. He never got over the past unlike Erza. Both, in my opinion, are realistic in they’re own way. Ezra learns to accept things and eventually gets over them, but Kanda doesn’t forgive, he doesn’t actually have friends, not since Alma.
It’s hard to find a distinct similarity between Gray and Lavi, but if you dig deep enough, you can kinda find it. Gray has a 'heart of ice’ keeping his feelings and memories safely away where no one can reach them, including himself. He’s seen so many deaths, of his loved ones especially, he was even driven by revenge the entire time he was Ur’s student. But he never showed how he actually felt, not until his father died again. Only when it happened (which is understandable). Lavi’s been seeing wars everywhere for his entire life. The Black Order’s being his 49th. All this time, he’s had to fake a smile, be polite and sociable when there was really nothing there. His heart only opened up, even a little bit, after he joined the Order, just as Gray’s did when he joined Fairy Tail.
Timcanpy and Happy. I feel terrible for saying this, but their super simple to compare. Both are small. Both can fly. Both have feelings. Both are silly. Both are the BFFs of the main guy characters. (I feel like I’m making them sound like they’re unimportant, and I don’t want that, even though that’s how it’s probably gonna be for this entire thing T^T)
Miranda and Wendy, that’s also quite simple. When Wendy first joined, she was a scared little girl, she didn’t think she had the ability to fight, and she was shy, always apologizing for everything, and she was/still is clumsy. Miranda is nervous. She is always always apologizing for everything she does, and she’s scared practically all the time. But Wendy and Miranda were both abandoned by their friends in the passed several times before finding a home and family they could call their own. Wendy lost Grandina, her mother, and then Jellal (mystogan) and then her entire guild. Miranda was always left alone, mocked, ridiculed and rejected. But both learn more once they get friends, they become stronger even just a little bit and can finally live happily, and fight for their family, no matter how many hard-aches they face.
Leverrier (I highly doubt I spelled his name right) and Karen. These arcs has the same idea: “exorcists are merely weapons, tools used to be to defeat the millennium Earl, they don’t need saving,” and “Spirits are just tools, mere playthings that abide to my will.” Exorcists and Celestial Sprits are placed in this same boat. Higher ups of the Order often simply considered exorcists as weapons of war. Certain Celestial Wizards saw their spirits as tools, not as living creatures.
In this regard, you can also look at how much the two are alike. Karen tortured her spirit, Aries, always used her as a shield when she didn’t deserve any of it. And then Lenalee, trapped as a child for three years, while Inspector Leverrier ordered her confinement, and laughed at her efforts to run away.
Finally, Allen and Natsu. The main protagonists in each story. We already know that Allen has the memories of the fourteenth Noah, and as revealed in chapter 219, he is most definitely waking up. And it has been recently revealed that Natsu, in fact, is  the demon E.N.D., Etherial Natsu Dragneel. But before I get any more intense, lets compare their personalities, shall we~? Both fight relentlessly for their friends, and try to save the lives of countless others. They always fight for what they believe in, and they never let other people’s judgment move that. Now the best part. Recently, it’s been revealed to us that the blackest dark wizard Earthling has ever seen is actually Natsu’s brother, Zeref Dragneel, and for the longest time, I assumed (along with many others I think) that Dragneel was just a mix of Igneel and Dragon, since he might have actually had a name. And now, the biggest thing in DGM that’s been revealed, is that the Millennium Earl is actually Mana Campbell, Neah’s older brother, and Allen’s father.
So that’s the character part of the FT/DGM similarities. I’ll add more observations I found (possibly more about characters as well as storyline or other) if I get 10 notes and up, or if someone actually requests it. Later Taters~ And thanks for reading! I cut it to just characters because I didn’t want to be rambling for 18 pages front and back
SORRY FOR ANY TYPOS!!! I didn’t reread, so I don’t know
