My tips to take care of your mental health when you can't afford therapy

I decided to make this post because I've been noticing a lot of people (anons, mutuals and even my irl peers) struggling because of problematic ways of thinking. I hate seeing you all suffer and I am the type of person who wants to help everyone.

Rather than tips I'd say these are suggestions of topics you can search about.

1. Even if you aren't seeing a therapist right away, learning more about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This basically is a psychology approach that involves efforts to changing thinking patterns. You can start your research here

2. Self-compassion: it stands for 3 elements that you can also search separately. I'm listing them here to openly catch your attention. They are really interesting. - Self-kindness - Mindfulness (basically it means being open to the present, I personally think it is related to meditation, like this practice will help you a lot) - Common Humanity (Being able not to see yourself as the only one who makes mistakes and suffer because these things happen to every human being)

3. Types of communication. Developing a more assertive way to let your loved ones know how you feel or what you need is key.

PS. I learned about all of this mainly on podcasts but since it is in my native language (Portuguese) Many of you won't be able to access it. Still, I'm linking it here for those people who can understand it.
