Leather Stench Reference (Harry)
Faris Khalil is an exceptional editor and VFX artist to work alongside. With an organised workspace, Faris completes tasks and goals in a suitable time frame. His work is not only of industry standard but his suggestions are considered for the best possible professional outcome. Faris has transcended projects above and beyond their expectations to a greater final result. I have recently worked on a short action comedy with Faris. During the process he was working hard to show me the progress within the scenes. I was sent accessible links to watch segments of my film to confirm my satisfaction with his work. It was easy for him to translate my ideas into top quality renders. What I enjoyed most about working with Faris was his communication away from the workspace, the quality of professional work and the timeframe he was able to do it in. I think he could work on audio editing. Despite it not being his field of practice he has exceeded expectations in audio editing and with more training could master it also.

Project evaluation: (Subzyy music video)
The music video with Subzyy was a success. I got what I wanted out of it, a great urban music video for my portfolio. I’m happy with the results. It’s been a good project with a strong foundation after originally meeting the artist for s photo-shoot and a quick promo video before going onto making the video to go all out for, so had to get the Mercedes and smoke bombs involved for this one. I think the edit is one of my strongest and has come out well. Very happy with the grade on this one to amplifying that urban feel!

Project evaluation: (Leather Stench)
To begin with when I picked up the edit from the lads I thought it was going to be a smaller project  allowing time for other projects however it proved me wrong. The content of the production needed a lot of correction work, visually and sound. A lot of over exposed footage some beyond bringing back to a good standard but I did the best to my ability and I’m happy with the grade I really pushed myself handling footage like that compared to previous footage I’ve worked with or captured myself. Sound design is something that’s really grown on be in 3rd year as an editor, the sound design through the film aids the visuals I believe and has been used creatively. There is a lot of noise on the audio recorded fixing some has given a tinny sound effect on the voices. Overall I’m happy with the final outcome but if I had more time would have definitely loved to put more into this project but my timescale and list of things to do didn’t match up so well but I think I achieved a lot in the time I had.

Reframing shots in Leather Stench. Going through clip by clip to see if there is information on the screen that’s not relevant or looking to create nice framing cropping styles to aid the footage.

“BRING THE STORM”
Above is the grade below is raw. I have upped the highlights and brought down the shadows to create an intense look.

Colour graded above and raw below, much prefer the graded version getting rid of over exposure and styling it.

Below is the same effect however the edges have been blurred. This works much better to centre the eyes naturally in the middle of the screen, where as before could see distracting with multiple layers of the same thing but now it’s styled it works more appropriately.

Research for the music video project. This location style is ideal with the graffiti on the sides but still enough room for a road to get a car involved.

The Leather Stench teaser trailer.
It’s been really good to mix things up editing content like this. Really happy with the outcome. Feel like my skills are progressing as an editor really beginning to understand how much sound design can influence the piece rather than before when I was just editing to one song and that was it, Where as now I’m thinking about enthusing specific visuals through sound as well. Look forward to going further with editing the full film now.

Further testing. Then we got there, found our sweet middle ground after testing. The below image is the final grade for the teaser.

Working on a teaser trailer for Leather Stench. Really enjoying working on an action-comedy film to completely mix it up from my previous projects.

Cheeky edit of the Adrenaline Animals who we shot today and below Oasis in the same room. Was truly an amazing experience to film at Monnow Valley Studios where many amazing names have recorded such as Oasis, Kesha, Bring Me The Horizon and many more.
