These were just some of the final images I decided to use towards my final project. The accessories, as well as lighting made these images unique in their own way, resulting to them being used in my concept.

Another test shoot I explored was having a male model involved within the project. I did different videos/ shoots, however I felt as though it didn't fit the vibe of the project unfortunately. The female models were considerably colour coordinated etc. However, the male model wasn't.

Upon editing for my concept, I explored different pathways in editing, where I was able to see if the effects fitted with the idea. This was an effect I trialed, however I felt as though it didn't fit the vibe of the video and would be out of place- Which led me not to include it.

Rave Reference for inspiration
A document which shows the adaptation of raves and how they compare from then to now, is Anderson, T.L. and Kavanaugh, P.R., 2007. A ‘rave’review: Conceptual interests and analytical shifts in research on rave culture. Sociology Compass, 1(2), pp.499-519. This article has helped my concept out tremendously, by focusing on thr adaptation and conceptual interests of rave fashion.

In able to mimic a rave scene, I decided to accessorise using sunglasses and a black fan. The colour black was widely incorporated into my photoshoot/ video, this was to show the adaptation of how much fashion has changed from the 90's to modern society.

A furthermore struggle I had, specifically with the photoshoot, was the lighting from the equipment beaming into the models faces. Due to the equipment using a circular motion to display the lights around the room, I had to try and use my initiative and concentrate on timings to get the picture perfect.

When creating my video, I filmed two alternative beginnings. This is the original which shows the model playing a generic rave song, which should of panned out to the future rave clips. This, however, did not go to plan, due to the reflection of the camera showing up and simply not fitting with the rest of the video.

Vogue's Rave Tips!
In an article Vogue wrote in 2022, the magazine published how to style the recent rave trends. This helped me within my concept as I was able to use this article for guidance on trends upcoming and previously to use in both, my shoot and video.

New Rave concept.
Tumblr media
With the rave culture being on the rise now more than ever, I have decided to change my idea to modern rave clothing. This is due to the way fashion has evolved and adapted within the new generation.
My concept will be called 'Upcoming Rave', with the concept being quite similar to my original idea- The 90's. However, I will focus on modern rave styles, associated with the accessories people use to style their clothes etc. Still focusing on the same video idea, with the style following them as if to mimic a rave scene. This, however, will change slightly as the beginning will focus on an individual getting ready, with the camera zooming in onto a rave video.

•The style of film I would profoundly like to produce, would be similar to the works of trainspotting, where it is set within a groups point of view, looking into the rave world. This is due to rave culture being quite dominant within the 90’s, with the likes of Trainspotting, they share similar interests and metaphors can be adapted as the film goes on.
•The narrative would be produced within the group's perspective, with each individual showing a different point of view to how they view that era, with the style being a key feature.

My inspiration
•My inspiration stems from the music culture, from a time period which is remembered as a starting point for influential music.
•The rave concept is developed into this project as it was a starting point for the rave scene, which is still ongoing in modern times.
•Films such as Spike Island, Woodstock 99 and television shows such as this is England were my inspiration for this project. This is due to the films/ television shows being filmed in modern society, however set within the nineties period looking back- Which is the same concept I would be producing.

•For my photoshoot I would like to have bright LED lights producing a coloured effect onto the individuals. Due to the theme being designated around 90’s rave, I would also consider the effects of the person to be duplicated as if it is from that individual's point of view.
•The LED’s would portray a natural light, resonating that of a rave scene.

•The photographer needs to capture the lights which would mimic that of a club to really set the scenery for the shoot.
•Alongside this, the photographer must produce action shots, to show the fashion styles in their full form in the active scenery.
•The scenery would need to be the idealisation of a rave scene, with the influences of 90’s fashion playing the main feature. The photographer must capture all angles, from bird's eye view, from a downwards angle, almost like the person is dancing.

Ideas for my shoot
•Within the test shoot I would make sure all lights would be aiming from all angles, with a spotlight aiming towards the models faces, mimicking that of a rave scene.
•All models would be directed in a dancing fashion, attempting to capture actions shots.
•The cameras would be from different angles, mainly capturing the full extent of the scene. However, there will be a bird eye from above which shows a different perspective.

Moncler recently 'resurrected' the nineties fashion rave scene, by including nostalgia from that era in their recent collection. This concept relates similar to my work, in regards to the influence it still has upon certain individuals to this day. The rave scene is still widely popular, however the fashion has adapted every so slightly over time- Which is what I would like to my work to show.

A big inspiration for my project was Spike Island, which, although may not capture the rave scene as such, shows similarity in the clothing items they wear in relation to attending a music event. My concept should display the use of bucket hats, with oversized clothing being the mean feature.

Influence
Notably, the nineties were highly documented by photographers, videographers and studies during that period of time. E.Rosser wrote a report on the influence the nineties rave scene had upon fashion, with details such as hair and makeup playing a part.
