"Not my problem what happened after you hit him." He pushes his heel deeper into the guy's sternum, hearing a crack and a cry. Not his job to protect the kid either, but he's not a fan of how this conversation is going.

"You should probably apologize. And move on, before we call the police. I think the story of Car Versus Kid would look a lot different to law enforcement."

"If you agree, I'll let you go, deal?" He turns to the kid, "If that's fine with you."

Oliver's eyes widen as he watches everything unfold. One by one, they're knocked down. The noises they make when getting hit is funny and Oliver cackles. Whoops. Regardless, the guy--The one that seemed to be like some leader of sorts is on his back. He grunts. He's trying to shove this son of a bitch's heel off of him, but DAMN he's like a rock! Barely moving.

THAT KID broke MY car! Goddamn MONSTER.

"HEY! It was a total accident! You should'a stopped and I'm NOT a monster!" Oliver bites back. It wasn't his fault! He waited to cross the street. He even had his hand up like a pre-schooler (something he saw children do when they crossed the street.)

So the car hit the kid, and the kid damaged the car. Seems like he was telling the truth - or enough of it for Aki to act on.

Not that he cared about the incoming jerks who kept swearing at them. With a sigh, he readies his wooden blade, stepping forward as the incoming idiots move in and out of time thrice more, before his precognition disappears.

"A limit of five. Annoying."

Unneeded, as he learned to fight without the Future Devil to begin with. Stepping forward, the first guy takes a pommel to the throat, and it begins.

A very ordinary fight, although Aki himself is clearly no ordinary fighter. It takes him very little time to get them on the ground. Six, maybe? The one who called the redhead a 'bastard kid' is conscious, Aki's heel on his chest.

"Anything you wanna say to the kid you hit with your car?"

"It's their fault," he's quick to blame. Really, all he had been doing was being a good kid! "I looked both ways before I crossed the street." Oliver blinks. The number of people that came out of that vehicle was certainly not the amount Oliver wanted to deal with (Not that he couldn't).

"You're going to whack them with a wooden sword?" Oliver steps back at least. He spots one of the guys and then right behind that guy, there's more.

THAT LITTLE SHIT. YOU HIDIN' BEHIND YOUR POP?

"Are you really...." Oliver looks up at the stranger. He looks like he can handle himself.

OI, GET OUT THE WAY. I WANT THAT BASTARD KID.

"No. A Devil Hunter." He looks back to where the guys are shouting, and then back to the kid. "You smashed their car?"

He's around Denji's age when they first met, and he seemed like he was just as much trouble. "Running isn't really worth it, if you're strong enough to do that much." Sighing, he pulls out his wooden sword, taking a few steps back where the kid came from and giving a few cursory swings, testing the weight of it.

"May as well deal with it head on. They'll turn the corner at the end of this sentence."

He's caught off guard and surprised when some stranger can GRAB him without a problem! Oliver grunts and he's mildly annoyed and maybe a little panicked. The last thing he needs is to get caught by those ugly bastards and THEN get in trouble with whoever!

"Hey! What are you? Some kind of robot or somethin'?" He can hear the guys shouting from afar. Can smell them too!

WHERE DID THAT BRAT GO?

"It was an accident! I didn't mean to smash their car, y'know!? THEY GOT IN THE WAY!"

He'd thought Cafe December was some kitschy name for some new, high-end bar. Especially with the rumors about its owner he'd managed to pick up.

He was wrong. It was an actual cafe.

And so he found himself standing in line awkwardly, pulling out his phone when prompted, and then holding it up in confusion.

"I'm supposed to...Pay with this?" He doesn't see any familiar pay apps, and can't help but raise an eyebrow in response.

"...This feels like a scam."

He clicks his tongue at the next tome that tells him nothing. Less than nothing, really, given it not being in any script he's seen before. Putting it back, he turns to someone who seems to be waiting for the bookshelf he was in front of.

Looking...Far more akin to a fairy tale - similarly to the ambience of the library. Maybe someone with good intel.

"Sorry," he offers.

"Are you familiar with these texts?"

"What are you?" He tilts his head to the side, straightforward as always. It looked almost like a child, but not quite. Some kind of robot, then?

"Not a Devil, I'd imagine. Unless you're some new Technology Devil."

While he definitely did not mean for his nonchalance to come across as callousness, and he intended to actually gain answers.

"So? What is it?"

Going through a coloring crisis so here’s another sketch 💫

He grabs the kid by the scruff as he runs by, seemingly in some sort of trouble, stopping him with ease due to his maintained contact with the Future Devil. Whoever was chasing the kid was far enough away for Aki to ask a few questions. And, well, prevent the kid from running into the busy road.

"What's wrong?" Straight to the point as always, he drops the kid back onto his feet, adjusting his own stance to give chase if needed.

"You have at least 3 minutes to explain, given it would be an average 2 minutes for them to round that corner and another 55 seconds for them to catch up, giving us a window for them rounding that corner down to 5 seconds."

Perhaps he was still dazed from being controlled, or maybe he was simply in shock - but he did as he was gestured to and got in the car. His expression, really, looked entirely bored. A defense mechanism more than anything as he ran his fingers across the grain of the wooden sword.

Still, he watched the unfamiliar setting go by as the car eventually rolled to a stop.

And when it dropped him off in front of a house with his name on it, he walked in with the same blank expression.

At least, until, a teenager ran out of the other room. Followed by some...thing.

"Hello?"

If it was a Devil, he didn't want to scare the kid, but he also only had a wooden sword. "Is someone there?" He knew she was, but it's better to give her the option to call out or appear.

AKI HAYAKAWA from CHAINSAW MAN

A Public Safety Devil Hunter who has spent much of his life hunting down the Gun Devil that killed his family when he was a child.

Was one of Makima's "most trusted" subordinates (read: easy to manipulate) who was put in charge of reining in Denji and Power during the first part of Chainsaw Man.

Starts out very much disdaining his role, largely due to his predisposition against Devils but also his lack of desire to babysit his coworkers (including living with them), but also, kind of, to protect himself from that found family.

It did not work, he loves his found family.

Still a staunchly serious man who takes his work extremely seriously, but also makes an excellent house spouse given his ability to cook and clean very well.

Also an excellent swordsman.

Will have literally just popped in here at the beginning of a major traumatic moment that triggers his death, so he might be a little cranky.
