SBS has banned LEESSANG’s Gary’s music video and song for his new song ‘Shower Later’ from being broadcast on its television station network. The censorship team for SBS said, “Following reviews by our team, we have deemed that Gary’s music video for ‘Shower Later’ wasn’t suitable for broadcast. Thus, we have decided to ban the song and music video from our network.” Gary had released his solo mini album ‘Mr. Gae’ and his title song music video ‘Shower Later’ yesterday (January 15th), and garnered much attention from fans. There was however much controversy following the release, as the lyrics for ‘Shower Later’ was full of sexual innuendos, and was made worst by the suggestive scenes in the music video.

Gary’s solo album title song, “Shower Later,” is still among the most controversial topics in the Korean music industry. Korea’s fashion magazine W Korea interviewed Gary on his opinion on how his album was rated R, and with what intentions or objectives he decided to release such an explicit album. Gary expressed that these lyrics aren’t too different from the explicitness and themes handled in Leessang songs, and thus fans of Leessang would not have taken the lyrics to “Shower Later” as shocking as the general public did. However he felt that venturing out of the comfort zone by defying the originally conservative themes in mainstream Korean music, and breaking the mold would therefore help in reducing the stereotypical messages brought up in Korean music, and therefore help the industry develop furthermore. The interview wasn’t all W Korea did, they also had a photo shoot with him, in which he can be seen wearing a black leather jacket and other edgy clothes to showcase his masculinity, as well as highlight his uniqueness and independence in the music industry.
