“You… ‘help me’?”

He’d repeat, low and unnerving. Despite the tension in the air lifting, despite his demeanor no longer hostile, Ghadius’ had a venomous tone. No longer enraged by the foolish one approaching him, trying to do… something to him… he still wasn’t too thrilled. The spirit refused to face Klonoa, but he could tell the kid had no intentions of leaving any time soon. And that frustrated him, yet confused him greatly.

“You. The one who’d constantly defy me and my minions plot of revenge on the miserable world.”

The hero, offering to help Ghadius, the Spirit of Darkness and King of Nightmares? What a mockery it all was! To give an empty promise and have nothing come of it Did Klonoa really think he could trick him like he was nothing but a gullible moron? How dare he.

“You, who, along with that prince, defeated me. Humiliated me. You and those mortals, celebrating my defeat…”

The thought of such a thing, from his enemy! The child hadn’t proved to be trustworthy to him at all! The traveler of all these foolish dreams had only proven him that he is capable of shooing nightmares away. The nerve!

‘ what    if   i    could    help    you    ? ‘

That was it. The phrase would be enough to make him snap.

“Do you REALLY expect me to believe A WORD that comes out from your mouth?”

At last, the he turned towards the dream traveler. Voice grew more strained. The lingering feeling of tension in the air gradually returning, with the dark spirit shaking like a tree as flaming shadows danced on his form. The past few moments have been quite the roller coaster of emotions, haven’t they?

“I helped shape this world, I’ve been here LONG before any of the eldest ancestors! I am just as much a part of this world as the people and the others! Yet I am shunned and cast away. And you. You appear, and ruin everything. Ruin my one chance at avenging my imprisonment. Do you really believe I’ll trust you after the others sent you to stop me then? Like they didn’t respect me enough to come after me themselves?!”

But the other spirits weren’t even around during that stunt he pulled..

“Do you HONESTLY think it will undo millennia of beliefs and traditions? What do you think will change? Why. WHY are you being so difficult? WHY are you trying so hard with me!?

“WHY do you WANT to HELP ME?”

      you    subconsciously    began    to    back    up    as    his    initially    low,    seething    tone    &    demeanor    further    grew    more    rageful    &    loud    ...    by    the    time    he    finished    his    words,    you    had    backed    all    the    way    up    to    where    you    dropped    the    wind    ring    ／    the    edge    of    your    heel    steps    on    it    &    you    stop    as    it    snapped    you    out    of    moving,    eyes    shift    to    the    side    glancing    over    your    shoulder.

      maybe    this    is    a    sign    that    you    should    take    this    opportunity    to    leave    like    he    told    you    to,    maybe    you're    just    making    things    worse.

      you    close    your    eyes    briefly,    instead    you    chose    to    kick    back    the    wind    ring    with    the    heel    of    your    shoe    further    &    push    it    out    of    the    scene    entirely    ／    you    then    look    on    &    step    a    few    feet    forward    to    face    him    once    again.

      once    you    speak    up,    your    voice    starts    off    a    bit    shaky    ／    which    you    couldn't    help,    fear    is    still    present    within    you    &    the    sudden    return    of    all    the    tension,    the    overwhelming    density    of    anger    ghadius    emitted    wasn't    helping    your    anxieties    any    ...    you    try    your    best    to    keep    it    together.    

      ❝    i    thought    that    you    were    sealed    away    because    you    were    evil    &    bad.    but    talking    to    you,    i    learned    more    from    you    and    ...    realized    some    things    on    my    own    that    i    didn't    until    now,    i-    i    ...    don't    think    you're    evil.    i    think    you've    been    sad    …    for    a    long    time    …        it    isn’t    right    that    everyone    else    is    happy    &    you    don’t    get    to    be,    too    ...    ❞
