(  @faultliines​​  )  “  look  what  i  found!  ”  bounces  over  to  diana  with  a  grin,  happy  to  see  her  both  here  in  2012  and  at  the  festival.  it  wasn’t  often  she  got  to  see  her  sister  so  when  she  does,  she’s  over  to  her  in  a  heartbeat.  “  it’s  us!  ”  holds  the  comic  up  towards  the  amazon.  it  had  diana  in  the  front,  donna  on  her  left,  and  cassie  on  her  right  and  the  blonde  couldn’t  help  but  grin.  “  kinda  neat,  don’t  y’think?  i  didn’t  even  know  these  existed.  ” 

 a  smile  dances  on  her  lips  ,  she  doesn’t  particularly  love  the  idea  of  her  alter  ego  posted  almost  everywhere  ,  both  fictional  and  non  -  fictional  aspects  of  her  life  blatantly  plastered  on  every  page  .  but  cassie’s  excitement  was  contagious  and  she  simply  couldn’t  help  but  agree  . “  i  think  it  needs  to  be  framed  .  ”  diana  says  ,  hand  grazing  over  the  glossy  page  as  though  it  held  a  precious  memory  .  perhaps  it  does  ,  with  the  alterations  in  the  timeline  and  over  all  dangerous  line  of  work  ,   who  knows  how  much  time  they  have  left  together  . “  are  there  other  copies  ?  i  think  we  should  get  donna  one  too  .  ”

“  wanda  dear  ,  festivals  such  as  these  are  simply  full  of  possibilities  .  ”  loki  smiles  ,  mischief  surging  through  his  veins  and  turning  the  gears  in  his  head  . “  you  could  absolutely  do  anything  you’d  like  .  make  that  popcorn  machine  explode  and  make  it  rain  popped  corn  ,  win  every  game  by  altering  the  outcome  .  honestly  darling  witch  ,  the  carnival  is  your  oyster  .  ”

 clark’s  eyes  widen  ,  his  head  bowing  instantly  as  a  blush  crept  up  his  cheeks  . “  oliver  ,  please  .  ”  he  mumbles  ,  scratching  the  back  of  his  neck  ,  his  arm  acting  as  a  barrier  to  recognition  of  any  devoted  comic  book  readers  . “  i  wanted  to  keep  this  day  very  ...  stress  -  free  .  if  you  would  so  kindly  help  with  facilitating  that  .  i  wold  very  much  appreciate  it  .  ”

“  and  who  are  you  supposed  to  be  little  girl  ?  ”  loki  asks  the  other  in  a  condescending  tone  which  he  had  so  meticulously  topped  off  with  a  sardonic  grin  .  “  im  afraid  street  magicians  aren’t  considered  as  super  heroes  or  villains  for  that  matter  .  i  believe  the  circus  is  that  -  a  -  way  ,  darling  .  ”

(  @faultliines​​  )  “  clark!  hey!  ”  spots  the  kryptonian  with  ease  as  victor  walks  through  the  crowd,  his  own  height  causing  him  to  stick  out.  plus  the  whole,  robotic  body  parts,  that  too  makes  him  stick  out  but  he’s  used  to  that.  jogs  over  to  clark  with  a  slight  grin,  happy  to  see  a  familiar  face.  “  clark!  good  to  see  you,  dude.  didn’t  expect  to  find  you  at  something  like  this.  ”  figures  he’d  be  busy  with  batman  trying  to  solve  the  puzzle  to  go  home.  “  try  any  of  the  food  yet?  ” 

 he  would’ve  heard  the  familiar  whirring  of  his  machine  before  victor  even  called  out  his  name  .  but  clark  had  been  overly  consumed  with  the  festival  ,  ensuring  his  wife  was  smiling  ,  his  children  were  happy  .  he  wanted  this  day  to  be  an  exception  ,  the  only  one  in  which  they  are  allowed  to  feel  and  act  like  they  were  a  normal  family  .  after  everything  that’s  happened  ,  they  needed  a  break  .  he  turns  around  at  the  call  ,  a  smile  beaming  on  his  lips  .  “  victor  !  i’m  so  glad  you’re  here  ”  he  brings  him  in  for  an  embrace  . “  yeah  ,  well  thought  it  might  be  a  nice  family  outing  .  ”  he  shrugs  his  shoulders  . “  even  though  it  is  kinda  weird  ...  ”  he  muses  aloud  as  a  stream  of  supermans  parades  down  the  street  . “  uh  ,  no  actually  .  want  to  grab  some  now  ?  ”

“this is my first time having the suit in a little while. i mean, it’s been, a few months. but i’ve felt lost without it,” he explained, trailing off a bit. “anyway, want to see a party trick?” @faultliines​

 an  exasperated  sigh  escapes  her  lips  ,  "  is  it  one  that  will  send  us  back  in  our  respective  timelines  ?  because  if  so  ,  then  yes  please  .  if  not  ,  don’t  waste  my  time  .  who  knows  how  much  raw  time  we  have  left  that  isn’t  already  shat  on  by  this  catastrophe  .  ”

“  captain  ,  ”  maria  greets  him  quietly  ,  eyes  trained  on  the  shelves  of  comic  books  as  not  to  draw  any  attention  towards  them  .  “  i’m  very  curious  to  know  exactly  how  the  hell  tony  stark  messed  up  .  and  how  to  fix  it  as  soon  as  possible  .  i’ve  got  a  gut  feeling  someone  dangerous  is  going  to  get  restless  and  with  every  superhero  and  their  enemies  here  ,  it  won’t  be  long  till  that  happens  .  ”

          “  𝐲𝐨𝐮  𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭  𝐛𝐞  𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐲  𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐤  .  ”  clark  extends  a  hand  out  ,  “  i’m  clark  kent  .  but  also  ,  uh  sometimes  ,  i  wear  the  big  s  on  my  chest  and  the  cape  ...  y’know  ,  ”  he  clears  his  throat  ,  glancing  left  and  right  before  leaning  in  and  whispering  ,  “  superman  .  ”  he  quickly  retracts  back  ,  forcing  out  a  laugh  in  a  (  pathetic  )  attempt  to  paint  a  picture  of  normalcy  .  “  just  two  average  guys  ,  having  an  average  conversation  ...  ”  his  gaze  darts  around  ,  trying  to  spot  any  suspicious  eyes  on  them  .  “  ....  about  being  average  ...  ”  a  tryingly  forced  chuckle  slips  again  from  his  lips  .

          “  𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭  𝐠𝐨  𝐭𝐨𝐨  𝐟𝐚𝐫  𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦  𝐦𝐞  𝐣𝐨𝐧  .  i  know  you  can  protect  yourself  perfectly  fine  but  i’ve  got  a  weird  feeling  in  my  stomach  about  this  .  ”  he  sticks  close  to  his  son  ,  ensuring  he  was  at  least  an  arm’s  reach  away  .  “  i  mean  it  could  be  because  of  that  banana  milkshake  .  i  think  the  milk  was  off  ...  ”  his  hand  absentmindedly  touches  his  stomach  .  “  but  still  ,  ”

           “  𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐞  !  ”  clark  calls  out  as  he  gently  weaves  through  the  crowd  ,  a  strained  expression  drawn  upon  his  features  as  he  tried  very  best  to  conceal  his  strength  .  with  arms  just  barely  grazing  strangers’  and  trying  to  be  as  gentle  as  he  could  with  sliding  his  kryptonian  body  across  the  sea  of  stranger  .  with  the  amount  of  concentration  exerted  he  almost  forgot  how  to  walk  and  tripped  over  his  own  two  feet  once  or  twice  .  but  he  eventually  reached  the  other  ,  accessorised  with  the  trademarked  clark  kent  smile  and  all  .  “  man  ,  crowds  ,  am  i  right  ?  ”  he  chuckles  as  he  awkwardly  rubs  the  back  of  his  neck  .  “  it’s  good  to  see  you  !  ”  he  begins  to  wrap  an  arm  around  his  friend  but  stops  halfway  ,  “  uh  ,  can  i  give  you  a  hug  ?  ”

         𝐢𝐭  𝐰𝐚𝐬  𝐚  𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞  𝐭𝐨  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐨𝐧  girl  how  they  could  all  keep  it  up  .  half  of  her  friends  were  superheroes  and  she  just  couldn’t  possibly  conceive  the  thought  of  having  to  sort  out  the  spectacular  mess  of  young  adulthood  while  trying  to  save  the  rest  world  .  it  was  simply  impossible  .  yet  the  proof  was  all  around  her  .  the  aspiring  copycats  in  costumes  ,  the  glossy  comic  book  covers  ...  she  was  just  in  constant  awe  of  all  of  them  .  she  spots  a  familiar  figure  in  the  crowd  and  a  smile  immediately  appears  upon  her  lips  ,  “  hey  superstar  !  ”  mj  elbows  the  other  jokingly  ,  “  tell  me  how  does  it  feel  to  be  a  national  phenomenon  ?  ”

*   𝒇𝒓𝒙𝒛𝒆𝒏𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 .  𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑  𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄  &  𝐇𝐀𝐋  𝐉𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐍

          “  𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫  ,  𝐦𝐲  𝐛𝐨𝐲  !  ”  hal  makes  his  way  through  the  crowd  ,  a  smile  plastered  on  his  lips  . “  damn  it  is  good  to  see  you  !  is  the  whole  league  here  ?  ”  he  would  know  if  he  hadn’t  been  sulking  in  his  shitty  one  -  bedroom  apartment  for  the  last  week  or  so  ,  lamenting  on  a  pillow  that  was  not  his  own  ,  about  missing  the  love  of  his  life  and  just  the  general  displacement  in  time  and  place  (  but  that  was  a  secondary  concern  )  .  “  didn’t  think  an  arrogant  display  of  adoration  would  be  the  thing  that  drew  you  guys  out  .  ”  the  blonde  jokes  .  it  was  a  pathetic  ,  little  attempt  in  averting  the  fact  that  he  had  been  solely  focused  on  finding  carol  &  ignoring  the  calls  of  the  league  .

*   𝒄𝒗𝒔𝒎𝒄𝒔   .  𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐀  𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐘  &  𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐀  𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄

          “  𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆  𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭  𝐲𝐨𝐮  𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤  ?  ”  diana  muses  aloud  as  her  gaze  flitters  from  one  person  to  the  next  who  was  dressed  up  as  wonder  woman  ,  a  small  smile  dancing  upon  her  lips  as  it  settles  on  an  exuberant  little  girl  with  an  amazonian  tiara  .  the  little  girl’s  excitement  is  almost  contagious  but  rising  suspicions  quickly  dampen  her  mood  ,  “  to  hold  such  a  large  festival  ,  with  so  many  civilians  and  so  many  of  the  heroes  preoccupied  ?  ”  she  says  as  her  eyes  spot  a  hero  enthusiastically  performing  for  a  crowd  .  “  adoration  is  a  powerful  distraction  .  ”

*   𝒐𝒇𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔   .   𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐓𝐓  𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐒  &  𝐄𝐌𝐌𝐀  𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐓

       “  𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐮𝐩  𝐟𝐨𝐫  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥  𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐞  ?  though  i  suppose  with  that  hair  ,  those  glasses  and  of  course  ,  me  by  your  side  ,  you’d  be  recognisable  anywhere  .  ”  emma  flashes  the  other  with  an  arrogant  smile  and  ever  the  thespian  ,  accompanied  it  with  a  dramatic  flip  of  her  hair  to  move  it  behind  her  shoulders  .

*  𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒐𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒄  .  𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐗  𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐒  &  𝐄𝐌𝐌𝐀  𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐓

            “   𝐡𝐮𝐡  ,  ”  𝐞𝐦𝐦𝐚  𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬  𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝  ,  tilting  her  head  the  slightest  as  she  criticises  a  comic  book  cover  .  “  from  this  angle  ,  your  brother  has  a  better  butt  than  you  in  this  one  .  ”  she  chuckles  as  she  continues  to  walk  around  the  store  ,  a  desire  for  chaos  (  if  not  chaos  then  MISCHIEF  at  the  very  least  )  stirring  at  the  pit  of  her  stomach  .  “  is  it  hard  being  constantly  overshadowed  by  your  younger  brother  ?  ”

            “  𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐞  !  ”  𝐡𝐚𝐥  𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬  ,  a  hand  patting  the  other  on  the  back  before  drawing  him  in  a  side  hug  .  “  i’ve  missed  your  grumpy  old  face  .  i  even  got  this  figurine  of  you  to  keep  me  company  !  ”  the  blonde  waves  the  bobble  head  in  front  of  its  muse  ,  grin  on  his  lips  stretching  from  ear  to  ear  .
