Thinking about broody Silvio... Sees MC handling a child, maybe a visiting diplomat/royalty where she couldnt help cooing over the kid, and suddenly he cant help thinking of what their kid together would be like, how many they should have, what they'll look like (will they look more like him or like her, or maybe an even mix), how they will act, will they be able to sail the sea with him...

It stops him dead in his tracks because he's never once thought about having a family in depth. As royalty, it's of course an expectation for him to have an heir or two to potentially pass the throne to. However, Silvio had plenty of reason to never expect the throne to even be passed to him, to begin with, and his history with his own family meant there was no sentimentality to be had regarding thoughts of being a father. But all that changed now that he found someone he loved.

He can hardly believe he's the one broaching the subject, and he keeps mumbling, and he can't make eye contact, and maybe is taking too many gulps of some strong alcohol. But he doesn't want the pressure to fall on his partner to ask about kids first. Hes spent his life being an asshole, and although it feels a little late, he wants to make that change when it comes to his partner. It just might require some patience.

Want to do something to help stop the tradwife pipeline btw? Include mothers in your feminism. Hold space for women and others who are experiencing pregnancy or motherhood. Listen to their concerns about and unique perspectives on things like universal childcare, bodily autonomy, healthcare. Hold men who disrespect, sexualize, fetishize, shame or harass pregnant women and mothers accountable. Advocate for the right to nurse in public. Advocate for bodily autonomy within the healthcare field. Listen to women and birthing parents who have birth trauma. Listen to women who have undergone things like “the husband stitch”, or medically unnecessary c-sections, or who were given drugs without consent by doctors and nurses violating their birth plan. Advocate for resources to promote an end to the high rates of maternal mortality in the US. Get to know a woman who has children. Get to know the person she is. Know about her likes and interests and hobbies. Unlearn the stigma in your head which makes you see pregnant women as “ruined” or “tainted” and mothers as devoid of individual personhood.
