The Great Fact Check of 1812: No One Else
All quotes used in this post come from Pevear and Volokhonsky's translation of War and Peace. As a refresher, since this song is probably popular enough for this to circulate to newcomers, this is a series where I "fact check" the book-accuracy of the libretto of Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 and explain the context of various lyrics, etc.
This was fun and definitely got me back in my Andrei/Natasha feels. Hope you enjoyed! Check out the rest of the series here:
Prologue, Pierre, Moscow, The Private and Intimate Life of the House, Natasha & Bolkonskys
