THE REFLECTION.

faye  first  encounters  this  entity  when  they're  nearly  drowned,  indirectly  calling  attention  to  herself  when  she  somehow  survives  the  ordeal.  it  takes  an  interest  in  them  when  the  story  of  the  serial  killings  becomes  public  and  people  start  covering  it  through  films  and  podcasts.  after  unconsciously  making  a  deal  with  the  reflection,  their  film  kabe  no  ma  is  cursed. through  watching,  viewers  find  themselves  somehow  drawn  into  and  experiencing  the  psychological  torture  of  the  woman  in  the  film.  as  soon  as  it  ends,  they're  left  with  the  uncomfortable  feeling  of  having  their  mind  invaded.  as  though  their  own  trauma  has  been  drawn  out  and  made  public  for  people  to  see.  a  quick  google  search  will  tell  you  nothing.  some  posts  on  horror  forums  say  that  no  two  people  have  experienced  the  same  thing,  but  the  feeling  is  the  same  —  like  they've  gone  through  something  terrible  or  that  something  terrible  is  going  to  happen  to  them. viewers  have  posted  about  feeling  nauseated  after  watching,  haunted  by  the  feeling  that  they've  been  horribly  exposed  or  that  they're  being  watched.  some  have  even  reported  never  quite  recovering,  paranoid  that  something  is  going  to  happen  to  them  without  being  able  to  explain  why  or  what  they  think  is  happening  very  clearly. the  reflection  has  no  physical  form.  it  manifests  as  the  feeling  of  being  seen  or  invaded,  of  having  your  trauma  made  public.  it  shows  itself  in  reflective  surfaces  such  as  mirrors  and  cameras,  photographs,  videos  and  even  surfaces  of  water.  as  an  "avatar"  or  conduit  of  this  entity,  it  can  both  take  on  faye's  form  or  control  their  body  but  there's  always  something  a  little  off  about  it.  smile  too  wide,  eyes  too  glassy,  stiff  movements  like  it's  unused  to  moving  in  a  corporeal  form.  in  faye's  body,  her  irises  become  glass-like  and  reflective  or  she  gains  two  extra  irises.  the  more  faye  "exploits"  their  experiences  in  their  films,  the  more  power  the  entity  gains.  in  emotionally  vulnerable  states  she's  more  susceptible  to  the  entity's  influence.
