Self Reflection  WK 8

In this final week of this term, we uploaded each of our part in the report to the group doc.We sat together and went through each part step by step and make modifications.I realized my weakness in English writing and I need to spend more time to improve. When choosing the format of the report,Grace suggested we use indesign because it looks more professional and can change the layout of the word and pictures in a flexible way,while I think using indesign is time-consuming because we need to insert the picture one by one from the file and the total layout can be easily changed because of a small change in each part.Also it would be better being edited by one person because of its special format. Excel is more flexible and can save us lots of time. In the end, we decided to use indesign because we want to present our findings and recommendations in a more professional way. Thanks a lot to Grace,she was in charge of the whole process of editing the report in design and it is indeed took much time.

At the same time, we are making the PPT for the final presentation.It is much easier than writing the report because we already gone through the information during writing the report.One thing we faced is to keep the structure of the presentation in a logical and well-organized way to make the audience better understand the rationale and logic. Since we conducted the primary research several times,it is easy to get confused if we just list and present them based on time sequence in the PPT,rather,we put the information collected in various chart and forms,put them in different part of the report according to the category of information included,thus the presentation became much clear and well-organized.

Thanks to the help of our tutor Hannah,who delivered the knowledge we need for this project and the recommendation given in terms of the amendment of aims and objectives of our report, with full dedication and good cooperation of all our group members, we finally finished the report and PPT for the presentation on time.I feel happy to be one member of our team because we managed to find a way to make the most use of each other’s advantage and we can always communicate in a relaxed way,we came up with many good ideas when brainstorming and I really enjoy the process

In future,I will study the group project carefully and communicate with group members deeply,listing all the questions in mind and sorting them out before coming up with any recommendations. I should stick to the timetable set for group projects and try best to finish my part in advance so as to allow more time for amendment.I should also pay more attention to the overall flow of the project rather than focusing on details which are not so important. I should also practice delivering a presentation more frequently because I am easily get nervous during presentation in front of a group of people.

Self Reflection WK7

In this week,we are more involved in the product design process. I was mainly in charge of choosing suitable color,silhouette and fabric for different coat considering the difference of fashionability,store location,consumers’ preference,finishing visual range sheet,the specification sheet and numbers range plan.

The procedure took longer time than expected,which made me suspect my efficiency. I spent much time in checking the product information like fabric composition,size,color,fashionability and quantity.Tanks to the research we did in previous stage,we finally allocate suitable products to Regent and New Dehli store. When finishing the technical part of this range, at first I planned to find reference through Burberry’s website and other online resources,but it turned out to be that most of the information displayed on the website is recommended size for customers,not the size for production and there is limited accurate information.I have some coat,to make the size more accurate, I borrowed some coat of similar silhouette with the same size and fabric from my friends,by using the band tape, I measured each part which is required to be included in the form and with reference with design books and Internet resources and finally finished the technical form. Although I spent much time filling the various forms involved in range planning,sometimes staying up till next morning, I gained a lot from this procedure and really appreciate this experience. 

Overall,it went well and we are satisfied about the range we promote so far. We are keeping uploading each of our part in group documents and try to make some amendment in order to finalize a well-organized report.

Self Reflection WK 5&6

In these two weeks,we mainly focus on collecting information for product development.We divided the task and began to write group report.I was mainly in charge of trend analysis and continued conducting another primary research on product preference among Burberry Regent store customers.

During the process,we got some new feedback from customers,which is to our surprise.For example,customers in Regent store like big floral prints and want to see some new designs without the classic check. Customers in India like shinning fabric like satin silk. The procedure made me further realize the importance of consumer and market research, it also enabled me to improve skills and manners when conducting interview with various people.

Based on primary and secondary research, we came to the agreement that we need to think out of the box when developing the new range,consider new possibilities in fabric,silhouette and details in order to keep up with consumers’ new requirements. For example, Grace put up with the idea of including a double print scarf,with one side printed with Burberry classic check and another side printed with floral and birds,we have seen similar design in Burberry store but this one is considered being well received in India market by all of us,therefore we plan to promote it in India store.We had different opinions in terms of pricing,but we finally unified our ideas after reconsideration,we learned a lesson from this process and in future we need to discuss more before action.

Overall,we came up with many goods ideas for the range planning based on primary and secondary research. Although the process took longer time than expected,we worked well and finally got information needed to justify each choice we made. We confirmed the design factors,price and quantity of the new range. We will do more analysis and calculation work next week to improve the range planning.

Self Reflection wk3&4

These two weeks we mainly did primary and secondary research to collect more information in order to make store and range selection.I was mainly in charge of conducting primary research in Burberry Regent store and secondary research on micro environment of Burberry.

During the process, we communicate with each other timely when having any questions,after collecting the information from primary research,combining with analyzing Burberry's internal and external environment and product offers, we confirmed the categories we are choosing--scarf and trench coat,and the location of another overseas store--New Delhi.Although it took long time collecting the questionnaire and conducting structured interview, I feel very happy because we work well with each other and get the desired information timely.

Today we present our findings,I feel nervous and did not explain in detail about the information collected from primary research and finished the presentation much earlier than the time limit. I feel guilty and very sorry for my other group members,I need to practice more so as to make myself clearly stated and more calm down during presentation in future.

Programme leader Hannah and Kirsten recommended us to include methodology we used and plan to use for the research and suggested us have more eye contact with audience when doing the presentation. The feedback is very valuable to us and we really appreciate.

Overall,we finished the selection of store and product category,with related justification.We will start doing research on trend analysis in order to promote the new range.

Self Reflection WK1&2

After studying the programme handbook, we began choosing our group members.Since I had a pleasant and good cooperation with Grace and Ravleen in last term,I decided to continue our cooperation in this term and it was pleased to know they have the same idea with me.

We finally sat together and discuss the project soon after the class.We first list the necessary steps we need to go through during the whole project,set a time limit and displayed it in Gann chart,which made it clear and easy for us to follow. We confirmed the methodology we would use,which is a combination of primary and secondary research. By analyzing each of our strength and weakness, we allocate the focus of our three separately,followed by detailed tasks appointed to each one.In the first stage.

Since we need to justify the choice of store,product category and promote a new range plan, we decided to do secondary research first,seeking to have a better understanding of Micro and Macro environment of Burberry. By analyzing the information collected through secondary research and the nationality of our three, we choose New Dehli as the overseas shop for one of the new range.Then we sat together again to write the questionnaire and questions for structured interview.

At first we had disagreement in finalizing all the questions.Finally we double checked and confirmed all the questions we need to ask and wrote them in an organized way.

So far we worked well,we got some feedback from both London and New Dehli store, more time should be spent to get feedback from large quantity of people.
