This is my 'Work Motivation' song
This is my ‘Work Motivation’ song
As the work day starts to unfoldA sense of intensity takes holdTasks pile up and deadlines loomMy mind begins to race and zoom The clock ticks faster, time seems to flyI push myself harder, to the skyMy heart is pounding, my breath is quickI will not falter, I will not quit! I pour my soul into each task at handMy focus sharp, my will unplannedWith every challenge, I rise to the testMy…

Interactive Videos for learning: Engaging your learners to learn at their own time
Interactive Videos for learning: Engaging your learners to learn at their own time
Tumblr media
What is it all about? In days gone by, learners would passively consume traditional video lectures to recap what they have learnt in class. However, digital learners nowadays have their smart devices by their side most of the time. Their smartphones are interactive and so is the internet. Therefore, content to be consumed should be interactive as well. The present day digital learners can only be…

Our life is much guided by light, What we see becomes a right. An encounter can become a fight, A chance for me to be a knight. Win some lose some it is alright, It all adds up to be a might. Fatigue I get but still uptight, Never to drown inside of plight. Looking above the sky at night, The stars blinking up at height. I feel my heart yearning their sight.
Do not let your dreams be slight. When…

Augmented Reality (AR) on mobile devices brings Teaching down to Earth
Augmented Reality (AR) on mobile devices brings Teaching down to Earth
Augmented reality (AR) is an emerging technology which “provides a direct view of real world supplemented by computer generated material in the form of multimedia. Overlaying computer-generated imagery onto actual physical surfaces is the core function of augmented reality systems” (Andone & Frydenberg, 2017). In a nutshell, AR systems can be defined as those that allow actual and virtual objects…

Virtual Reality (VR): Get ready for the Next Generation of Education
Virtual Reality (VR): Get ready for the Next Generation of Education
Virtual Reality (VR) has been a focal point of discussion in the technology sector for the last couple of years but recently it hit a new high, thanks to the movie adaptation of Ready Player One (RPO). The story’s main setting is a world where VR is interwoven into every aspect of our daily lives. In the year 2045, people engage in the virtual reality world of the OASIS (Ontologically…

Introverts need company and loneliness can be felt even at your own concert
One of the few things that I vividly recall during my psychology lectures was about introversion. My professor was a gregarious man and because he had the gift of the gab, I would rarely think of him as an introvert. A lot of times when we think about introversion, we think about the characteristics that are stereotypical of an introvert. So, quiet and lonely sprouts out of our vocabulary but in…

Personality disorder or deviant traits?
The word ‘personality’ refers to the pattern of thoughts, feelings and behaviour that makes each of us unique. We don’t always think, feel and behave in exactly the same way – it depends on situations we are in, influential people around us, among other things.
Most of the time, we do tend to behave in predictable ways and so we label ourselves with descriptors such as selfish, lively and…

I don't want to be lonely...
I don’t want to be lonely…
These days the coldness that usually emanates from my heart seemed to have grown in intensity and my heart seemed to have lost its resistance to bounce back up again with each fleeting love encounter.
Guess with age, the tendency to feel not so very much alone becomes more pronounced. My thoughts seemed to have coalesced all that happened into one connected whole. There’s an oxymoron in life: the…

One tear in life reflection of joy is of greater meaning than countless cried any day given in sorrow.

Frequently, I laugh at Scrat, an animated species in the Ice Age films who is obsessed with collecting acorns and constantly putting his life in danger to obtain and defend them. I guess it’s an uncanny satire that seems to be directed at us who are fixated with the luxuries of this earth.

We get caught up with our dreams of achieving that we forget the more subtle things in life that have more trade-offs. We often trade our lives for money that we lose the preciousness of who we are and become oblivious to the good fortunes surrounding us.

A dove with clipped wings
A dove with clipped wings
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about life and its meaning and the transient nature of it all.  Realizing how often I place myself to the test, the struggles we often put ourselves through, the drama, the pain and suffering.  Thoughts about life, death, happiness and purpose drift in and out of my consciousness more regularly than usual.
I often look around and see a lot of struggling – in my…

There are valuable lessons to learn from foreign countries when comparisons are made but they cannot be grafted to other countries in similar ways because the cultures are different and the indoctrination for many years has strengthened the mentalities of people making them less willing to change. This inertia can be changed gradually but requires time. When comparisons are for the better, other countries will try to emulate the system in order to stay competitive but largely the new era and century brings about unknowing changes so educational institutions or the educational policies have to evolve over time to remain in tandem with economic progress. Globalization has led to cheap labor being outsourced so a knowledge economy is important so that workers are highly skilled with increasing automation and computerization of many jobs.

Wholesomeness is a centrally important concept in my value system. Unfortunately, within the context of modern society, the word wholesome sometimes carries connotations of conservative or traditional values that are generalised to being a stick-in-the-mud. It is often closely linked to the question of whether or not “the end justifies the means”. It must not only achieve good ends but also good means in achieving them. Can businesses survive by being wholesome and completely transparent?
