There will be more aesthetic warp chain photos and a proper start to the project in some other post probably, I am just too excited by enjoying the colours.

TWO socks!
I had finished knitting sock 2 over a week ago and then today I finally kitchener stitched the last 12 stitches across the toe. Huzzah

Finished a whole entire sock for the first time in my life
I know they say to immediately cast on the second sock but I'm not gonna do that
#knitting#ignore the antenna of purple yarn sticking straight up from the toe. I swear I DID weave in my ends#also Ginger is here. very much here. always wanting a cuddle

Well my loves, it appears as though the answer to "Can the Big Pattern Company (Simplicity/Burda/McCalls/ect.) survive the death of JoAnn?" has come.
The answer is no. No it cannot. It has been sold to a liquidator just like JoAnns was.
So if there is ANYTHING you want I suggest you get it now. simplicity.com is currently having a pattern sale and I snatched up some that might be useful for cosplay purposes.
I am very glad these last couple of years I have built up my collection.

Please reblog, there are not many lace makers out there and we need to reach the rest of our coven
#the only lace I know how to make is knit or crochet#but SOMEDAY#anyways I can read while crafting but that's more to do with my reading skills than crafting skills#watching a show/ movie or talking to people would actually rate more difficult to me?#a book waits patiently for you to bring your focus back#also. it's e-books for me. so no heavy pages flapping around

#TextileTuesday:

“Border fragment of wool with a continuous band of #hummingbirds and fringelike appendages representing beans. Early Nasca [Nazca, Peru, c.1-450 CE]. Pollination of bean plants by birds may be suggested here. Border was formed using a needle-knit stemstitch.”

if you're looking to tablet-weave or kumihimo-braid some pride stuff, here are the options I came up with for bracelets for my husband and me. if you're on twistedthreads the name of the pattern is "ally mcbeal". go nuts
#might have to fuck around and do the kumihimo one#I know how it works but my brain can't translate that flat depiction into 3D

i think the reason we’re all in a constant state of feeling like we need to look at our phones just to “do something with our hands” is because of the mechanization of textile production i’m so serious
#but then my mind gets bored and I need someone to tell me a story#except if I'm counting. don't talk to me when I'm counting

🏳️🌈❤️🔥
a set of pride band weaving drafts from twisted threads user MariV.
for any beginners ready to weave something up, I recommend something marked "all together" (which means all the tablets turn the same way, either forwards or backwards all at once), and "twist neutral" (which means the forward and backward turns balance out, and twist doesn't buildup in your yet-to-be-woven warp threads).
lots and lots of patterns fall under both these categories, so it's hard to get bored with the designs themselves and the opportunity to flex your color theories...and it's pretty straightforward to figure out when something has gone wrong and how to fix it. 😁
these are all twist neutral/all together bands.

#I am going to steal shoelaces from the president#this does botch my arrogant plan to have my first tablet weaving project be the 'nobody does this one for their first try' but ehn. whatever

#knitting#hate this yarn. not so much the colours (so ugly it's endearing) as the loathsome acrylic texture#but! a sock!!! soon... TWO socks! maybe more

Spent basically all day knitting a very silly, violently yellow, fringed... thing.
Gonna hang it across my window to celebrate summer and sunshine 🌞
There's still an enormous amount of the yellow acrylic, so maybe I'll make more cabled fringe and trim my long vest with it? Love the swoosh. Tbh there's probably enough yellow yarn to make an entire flapper fringe dress
#knitting#cable knit#I was going to make 12 pattern repeats so the cables snake back to where they start BUT#I got impatient and wanted to be done so I could drop the 5 stitches and unravel the fringe!
