The Bond only a Father Would Dream of
We’ve made it to the Sanctuary. Kamil gave me the biggest hug and thanked me for everything I’ve done for her. I’m not going to lie, it’s made me tear up a bit. I haven’t felt like this since my own daughter hugged me and called me, “Daddy.” I told myself when we started this journey that I didn’t want to get too attached, but I can’t deny that I love her as if she was the daughter I lost.
I don’t want to let her go. I feel like we were meant to be together. I don’t think I can hand her over to the Rebellion here.
What would my own purpose in life be? Would she even care if I left?
I don’t know, but I intend to talk to her tonight before I leave.
I don’t trust these people.

Awaiting the Boat of Freedom to the Sanctuary
Finally, the day has arrived! We made it to Miami where the Sanctuary ship will take us to safety. It’s been a long, gruesome journey, but we’ll finally be free when we leave tomorrow morning. It’s been refreshing to bond with Kamil over our journey together and it makes me sad it’s almost over.
Despite that, I still need to be on edge. We’re so close and we can’t afford to slip up now. The boat we’ll be traveling on is a massive cargo ship, so it should be relatively easy to lay low on the ship. If anything happens on our journey to the Sanctuary, I’ll be sure to update you all on that.

My Near Capture by the Federation
The last two weeks have kept me on edge more than any other week in my life. Everywhere Kamil and I turn, it seems like the Federation is waiting for us.
Two days ago, we arrived in D.C. in dire need of assistance. We were searching for a place to lay low a few nights while our car got some necessary repairs I had been putting off until we were a decent way from New York. Luckily, my friend, Paz, lived in the area and I knew we could lay low in his bunker for a while.
We caught up a bit and explained our situation to him, but it all came to a sudden halt last night. I thought we had been safe with him, but clearly, I was wrong.
Instead of laying low for a few days, we were ambushed by the Federation, led by my brother Shane. Paz helped us escape in secret but ultimately paid the price as we crossed over to Virginia. He had followed behind us in a vehicle of his own and provided a perfect distraction to let us escape. We owe our lives to him. We would never have made it this far without him. RIP.

My Weird Gas Station Encounter
It’s been a weird week on the run from the Federation, but nothing weirder than what happened in a gas station a couple of days ago. Picture this, Kamil, the girl I saved from the tower, and I found ourselves making a stop at a gas station to give our little pickup truck the boost it needed.
As I’m standing outside, pumping the gas, I notice a strange, black car speed to a halt beside us. Working for the Federation, you tend to get on edge every time a group of people stops beside you in an otherwise empty space.
These people consisted of a white man with facial scarring and eyepatch; a smaller woman who looked eager to kick my ass; and a burly black man with knives strapped all over his chest.
I stuck out my chest, ready to fight this crew of bounty hunters. Kamil kept side-eyeing me the entire time, but I ignored her. I waited for them to make the first move.
Yet again, I was proven wrong. It turns out they had found a wanted poster with my face on it, and they just wanted my autograph. That felt weird to do, but at least we weren’t killed.

My Escape from the Federation Capital
Today was a rather interesting day, to say the least. For those of you preaching against the Federation, you were right. I met my breaking point today. I overhead two of my comrades working today… Turns out we brought in a thirteen-year-old girl without my knowing. For some backstory, I worked as a Federation officer bringing in children or hostile individuals with powers for years. I thought it had just been a justice thing, but it turns out that I was horribly wrong.
When I entered work yesterday afternoon, I overheard some of my comrades discussing a girl that was being held in a laboratory in the tower. For reference, these captured individuals would be sent to a holding facility in upstate New York. This struck me as odd, so I decided to approach them and demand information. From there, I learned everything I needed.
I betrayed the Federation.
I barreled up to the lab, grabbed the girl, and ran for my life. We made it to the lobby before being caught. Fortunately for me, she used her powers to save our lives.
For those who need the kick, take the risk and act on your heart.
