I think itâs incredibly fucked how capitalism discourages learning for learningâs sake. People will have interests theyâve spent years researching then say itâs âuseless knowledgeâ bc it didnât go towards a college degree and isnât part of their job. Learning is never useless! Your brain is growing and developing throughout your whole life! People would never have epiphanies or sudden lightening strikes of creativity if they werenât learning new things! That goes double for topics like science, politics, and history, which inform your understanding of the world you live in!

I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isnât safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.

Guys. I can feel it already. THIS is the year. This is the year that Jonathan Harker will go on his business trip with no issue. Just a lovely train ride through Europe where he collects paprika recipies for Mina, meets some friendly, living people looking to buy properties in England, and then returns home safely.
Free him from the time loop.

Columbia University students took over Hamilton Hall after the Universityâs refusal to divest from the State of Israel and complicity in the Genocide. Students have renamed Hamilton Hall to âHindâs Hallâ honouring 6 year old Hind Rajab, who was killed by the Israeli Defence Forces (IOF) after being the sole survivor of Israeli tank fire on the vehicle her family, of 6 other relatives, had fled in. Satellite imagery showed 3 tanks present in the area, countering the State of Israelâs claim that there was no military presence in the area at the timeâ the Washington Post later confirmed the satellite imagery and subsequent presence of Israeli tanks, disproving Israelâs claims. More on Hind Rajab here.
This occupation of Hindâs Hall (FKA Hamilton Hall) is reminiscent of Columbiaâs history of student organisation, demonstrating and protestingâ from rejecting the Vietnam War, to protesting War on Iraq. From AP: âWhen youâre going to Columbia, you know youâre going to an institution which has an honored place in the history of American protest,â said Mark Naison, professor of history and African & African American Studies at Fordham University and himself a participant in the 1968 demonstrations. âWhenever there is a movement, you know Columbia is going to be right there.â
Columbia University, and every student everywhere currently participating in encampment protests, you are apart of the future. Thank you for standing so strongly against injustice and inhumanity. Anti-Zionist Jews around the world stand with you.
