Human brains are truly wonderful. To have the capacity to hold so much love without bursting. I last met you more than a decade ago but I still remember your favourite colour. I haven’t cooked for you in years, I still know how many layers of onions you need to tie off your meals. I marvel at how much your gut has evolved, it no longer allows you to put your spice tolerance to test. I refuse to think about the simple fact that all this time you’ve been growing old in a city not so far away but without me. You step foot into my room, all of my untold frustrations flow out of my mind. You have a child, it's not even a child anymore(as tall as you!), everything I never got to tell you begins to line their way in between my teeth. Their procession is halted as your family alerts you that it’ll soon be time to leave. Leaving, the only thing you’ve ever been certain of. You have a mere couple of hours to step back into decades worth of living. You only gently put your hands over mine, because letting go gets harder the stronger your hold is.
