i had a super SUPER productive morning and i was treating myself to the fancy shampoo (u know the shampoo u got as a gift that’s kinda expensive and v v Nice so u only use it when ur going out or have a social event going on?) and i came back to find a bunch of my mutuals reblogging the same post about hair, and i’ll be damned if i didn’t see that combination of events as some sort of sign! so here u go my dudes! another addition to the group! feel free to add “+ REVERSE” to switch the roles of this meme!

“What’s a little bit of an ear scratch between friends? I get people to do it for me whenever I’m in my normal cat form. Speaking of. You’ll at least scratch behind my ears too after this, yeah?”

Not that he expects it but it doesn’t hurt to ask, right?

“…Anyway, I find right here is the best spot for ear scratches when it comes to cat ears.” He reaches up and does his best to give a good scritch around the back closer to the base of the feline ears.

" Edgar my saviour!! I mean... I wouldn't normally ask but it's that... y'know! It's not often you get furry ears on you and all... Have to take advantage of it! So then... "

He grows all serious before dipping his head into a bow for easier reach for the shorter guy.

" Go ahead please! "

Considering Edgar’s got his own set of similar animal features, he doesn’t much bat an eye at the question but—

“I dunno how well I can do it when my hands have gotten kind of… paw-like, but. If you really insist?? Lean your head forward!”

Edgar had always enjoyed climbing up higher in trees but now that he’s got bigger claws to latch on with it’s so much easier— he’s got questions about the huge paws and fur growth after picking his guardian yeah but he’s not complaining as he scales a tree trunk to get higher ground despite the biting cold weather. Will be regret it later when he’s freezing his tail off? Probably but he’s enjoying himself right now.

She’s quicker on the draw then he is, having intended to pay for drinks himself but if anything he can just get the next round. Only fair, he figures.

Then again, she’s seemingly drunk enough and he just doesn’t want weird looks for sitting in a bar not drinking anything. “Sure, thanks. I’ll just take a strawberry daquiri.” He interjects as he folds his hands under his chin. If he’s going to sip something it might as well be something he can at least remember having enjoyed previously.

“So, what brought you into this bar anyway? I don’t imagine whatever that was was on your agenda today.”

"If they do then I'd love to get the front row seat to it."

Not that Kikuri wanted to see people get hurt but those that were asking for trouble definitely needed to be humbled somewhat. At least when she (as far as she could recall) didn't do anything to piss them off.

"But that's good! I'll treat you to some on the house." To her own wallet. The actual bar probably already had enough of the bassist even if she did pay her tabs at some point.

"Can we have two more drinks over here?!"

laptop’s not fixable without paying an arm and a leg so i am figuring out what i’m gonna do but it’s gonna take a bit to actually get a replacement, for context i finally took it in today to get it checked and it’s pretty much all bad news. it still works enough to be functioning but it’s not great, exactly and barely hanging on with the damage done. these issues have 100% affected my activity recently but im gonna get everything sorted asap so i can hopefully return to normal activity levels soon

Edgar’s gaze follows Eiden as he gets up, gauging for a reaction to the idea when the other seems to take it pretty well, all things considered. There’s something fun about brainstorming ideas with a boss that seems ti have a pretty gung ho attitude about a lot of things.

“With a little effort though we could probably manage at least a small batch if we put our heads together— right? And I guess even if we didn’t get this done in time though it’d still be an idea for next year in that case. The ingredients are important to consider too, so I wonder if it’s possible to make them relatively allergen free? You know, just to be sure.”

" Yeah, but Valentine's has at least a bit history behind it.... Even if it was probably totally different but White Day's purely marketing strategy hehe. "

" But I mean of course they will! I'll make sure the posters don't leave room for guessing ehehe. "

Eiden gets up to get some coffee brewing. His head turns on Edgar's suggestion, eyes lighting up a little.

" Oh not a bad idea! There's def a market for that! " he says with enthusiastic nodding, " hmm... have to make a recipe and do consistency tests and all... well, if we're quick with it we might get it in time for production huh? "

“No, Link, it’s okay.”

“I kind of got that feeling. But at least you got to have all these good experiences with those people before their… time was up.” Edgar had hesitated at first on what to say, but he’d feel bad not saying anything.

“I should be sorry, I didn’t mean to dredge up something that’s probably unpleasant for you, I just wanted to know more. Best way to learn about stuff you don’t understand is by listening.”

At that, the Hylian felt his eyes blink in quiet surprise; easily able to meet Edgar's gaze now, unlike before. That wasn't.. entirely the reaction he expected, but--

No. For Edgar, it made complete sense. He was incredibly kind, after all.

"Yes." It's a simple answer at first, as Link attempts to collect his thoughts. Though his words were true, it was also somewhat of an understatement-- how could the hero so easily count the amazing people he'd met in both of his lifetimes? "There are many different kinds of people in Hyrule, and I'm lucky to be able to call so many of them my friends."

The corners of his mouth raise, only slightly, until the smile falls before it can form.

".. some of them are gone now, and have been for some time. But I want to carry their memories with me, for however long I'm able."

"Sorry. That.. wasn't what you asked."

“I need to find a new book to read. I already finished the last two I bought, and they were kind of… eh.”

“Isn’t basically every holiday for marketing? Well, doesn’t matter as long as we end up with enough business to keep going.”

A shrug as he rests his elbows on the table and his chin in his hands, giving a hearty laugh.

“Anyway, I get the point, I was just curious! I’m sure others will get the point too. Knowing what type of holiday we’re doing sales for can help with ideas, though. Ever considered selling different types of chocolate body paint for stuff like this? Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s great for getting a little adventurous and still on theme.”

" White day is.... Well, generally since Valentine's started it was a taboo for women to confess their feelings. At some point they just made a corresponding for men. Of course both of these were for marketing! "

Eiden then smirks lifting up his finger.

" But that's not the point here! It's about the name! The name! In regards to this shop's matters what would you connect with white in specific hmm? "

Edgar isn’t exactly convinced and while the offending party seems to know well enough to back off as he continues to bare his teeth lest he actually do something, it doesn’t feel like much of anything was resolved here. Still, he stays where he is for a bit longer until he feels like there’s no further threat and plops down into a seat beside Kikuri.

It’s not like he’ll just wander off again, at the risk of it happening again.

“I was worried because it looked like they were trying to make an unwanted advance.” He huffs, still a little annoyed at the audacity of people; it was common sense to leave it be if someone didn’t have any interest!

“If they come back I’m fighting them.” He’s sure he could throw them across the bar with ease if it came down to it, although he hoped he wouldn’t actually have to. He would rather go back to just crowd watching, at this point, but now he’s all tense again.

“Whatever, I guess. Yeah, I’m Edgar. I can go get some drinks? Since this is still a bar.”

He doesn’t want to get plastered knowing he’ll pay the price for it later but getting them for looks can’t hurt.

It wasn't the most uncommon sight for Kikuri to be at the receiving end of someone else's ire. After all Kikuri was, despite what many might argue, a rather annoying individual both sober and drunk. And the vast majority of individuals were not willing to put up with whatever the bassist had up her sleeves. For better or for worse, a majority of these situations were usually calmly resolved either by her or someone else.

...In tonight's case it seemed like the later, with a certain someone she recognized from quite awhile ago.

"Ah Edgar right? Don't worry too much about 'em we were just finishing up." If by "finishing" one meant just going off to their own devices rather than continuing to deal with such a hassle of a talk. They were already looking to start a fight yet Kikuri sat there as if she wasn't completely aware of it yet.

"I said my peace and they won't understand it regardless of how I wrap it. It's what it is, just don't take it too personally from them alright?"

Edgar has heard it all before with some of the things people worry about with their hair. Some things inevitable eventually with the passing of time and some things pure myth but this outright confuses him.

“Uh, what?”

He finds himself staring for a few moments, before his mouth forms a frown and he tries to take a closer look at the problem area.

“I doubt that it will actually be a problem, but what makes you believe you’re at risk for hair loss to start with? To treat an issue, I need as much info as possible, but if I can evaluate the state of it I can probably make recommendations. Over-dying can put your hair at risk, but I believe it’s rare to see cases of hair loss associated with it, so in the end you’re probably fine as long as you take care of it properly.”

LEAVE IT TO ELYSIUM LIKE THIS, truly. what sense of direction surely is misplaced with an innate sense of idiocy, at least in terms of how he comes off, especially to those who don't truly know him. ❝ You would know about any products that will keep hair from falling out, right? ❞ hands clap in front of him, like he were begging for his life, perhaps a bit too dramatically over something as trivial as one's hair. ❝ They say that if this red tuft of hair falls out, it'll never grow back, so I have to avoid it at all costs, ❞ he continues, eyes ever pleading now toward them. now if only he could tell if they'd consider aiding him before something so horrendous happens...

“Well, I also just appreciate you popping in here to check on things. I know I can just leave you a text if I need anything here or something happens but still.” He stretches his arms above his head before settling back into his own seat for now.

“Remind me again what White Day is? I’m not actually familiar with it. But you better be, we don’t want our boss running himself into the ground.”

" Err, well Edgie just doesn't quit work out don't you think? " Eiden laughs.

" Glad to hear that! Good job! I mean I do get the numbers but y'know... checking in and all is important too! So as long you guys aren't busting in your seams it's all good by me! "

He then drops himself down to the lounge chair.

" Ahh busy busy. Valentines passed but then there's White Day preparations and all... I think I'm doing fine though! Still going strong. "
