    physical affection is a luxury reserved only for her closest friends. anyone else who crosses these boundaries are subject to a murderous glare and an onslaught of vicious threats. the feeling of a hand on her head instantly triggers bitter memories catra would rather keep suppressed. her hand swipes away his like a knee-jerk reaction, causing her to jump back in defense and hiss. studying the young boy before her, she almost has to stifle a laugh. almost. he looks RIDICULOUS with the mask and finds his getup overwhelmingly cheesy. still, she glares with contempt.

       “weren’t you ever taught NOT to touch what didn’t belong to you? scoot along, booger -- i’m not trying to start a play-date with you.” catra scowls.

     there was no fun in running through the all the possible consequences of her actions; it ruined the mystery of it all. most of the memorable events that took place in her life were all done on a whim, an addictive thrill in the aftermath of every situation. this happens to be another one of those nights. taking another swig of the cutely decorated cup, she leans back with her hand pressed against the floor, one leg stretched out and the other folded. the city was often suffocating due to its small size — there was hardly any sight to behold. 

     tonight, for some reason, she feels like she can BREATHE. her claws drag across the floor in frustration. “— what? spit it out already. you’ve been staring at me for like, how long now?” she grunts.

   the food they have to offer here remains FOREIGN to her, unusually vibrant with more texture and flavor than she is accustomed to. back home at the horde, ration bars shaped like bricks that maintained the appearance of wet cement was all that was provided for them. it tasted how it looked and somehow... she survived. with one cheek propped up on her hand, catra swirls the straw in her water cup and eyes the room. nothing of interest captures her attention, much less the man a few seats away from her. being alone is her norm — she doesn’t mind the silence much, anyway.
