the tribalism of filtering every other character based on how they relate to blorbo is so disheartening especially when the ppl who do this loudest almost always stan "good guys"

eren IS the cycle of hatred, he carries not just his own hatred for his enemies, but he also carries that of grisha's, kruger's and all the previous shifters.

he even perpetuates it into his child self, by the act of turning dina to carla he grows that need for revenge in his young heart, fueling his own hatred for the warriors and marley.

which is why the rumbling was never going to free ymir, or break the cycle. you cannot break the cycle of hatred with even more hatred, and more violence.

so it makes sense for the character who symbolizes unconditional and selfless love to be the one who breaks said cycle with her choice.

even in the selfless act of killing her loved one for the sake of the greater good, that very same act was also done out of her love for him.

so as opposed to eren who fought out of hate, mikasa only ever fought out of love.

Bryan Lee O'Malley remarking that he had Scott explicitly spell out that his relationship with Knives was inappropriate in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off because he feels like a lot of the comic's readers maybe didn't pick up on that is very funny not only because how do you not, but also because the original Scott Pilgrim comics are some of the most didactic media I've ever read outside of, like, medieval Christian allegories about the wages of sin. It's just constantly explaining to the reader exactly why Scott is a bad person, sometimes with little annotated diagrams. Genuinely, what's it gonna take for the twentysomething male audience not to idolise a loser?

listen......... i question how charismatic eren could've possibly been in the four years since he's been so distant since the basement, so now i can see how floch internalized erwin's charisma... armin observed how erwin made tough calls and sacrificed people but floch learned how to rally them... armin is a good leader because he has the trust of a small group of veterans, while floch ended up kind of just like erwin, luring greenhorns like louise to early deaths... 😳

you're right! i keep thinking about how the suicide charge probably not only gave him crazy ptsd but it literally broke his mind to the point where he convinced himself that his only purpose in the world was to make sure the devil (erwin) lives and save humanity (the islanders). since erwin's death, all floch does was mimic whatever little part of erwin (devil erwin) he was exposed to as u said as opposed to armin who has seen erwin work up close. but i like to think he, floch, has some self aware regarding his own capabilities hence him using eren as a tool to play the devil role. i know people keep saying floch is an eren simp or super dedicated to eren but nah, floch IDOLIZED erwin to the point he projected it onto eren and partly himself (the port fight was just floch channelling evil erwin's energy where he even copied part of his rallying call).

sidenote: floch can give reiner a run for his money regarding who takes roleplaying too far.
