i think all the best sci-fi is the sci-fi that looks dirty and lived in. like yeah we could have space travel and lasers but people are still gonna leave dirty cups by the side of their sleep pod and get weird alien mud stuck on their boots and put off fixing that faulty light on the lower deck of the spaceship. its relatable. its humanizing.

The tragedy of needing to grieve and not knowing what or who you lost or why. The angst of having trauma and being denied the awareness that it's trauma. The suspense of being different somehow and left to wonder how and when. The tension of knowing that something is off and you can't find where it hurts. The Adventure Zone gets it. Kingdom Hearts gets it.

There is an aching inside you and you don't know how it got there.

More male characters that are cool, handsome, strong, confident, smart but with no social skills. Default facial expression is just completely blank. Meets any romantic advancements with a thousand yard stare. But most importantly, just full of love. Absolutely brimming to the top of his soul with nothing but love and respect for his friends and family.

We genuinely shouldn't let Nintendo do this, we as the consumers have the right to fair prices. We need to remind Nintendo that their games and consoles are not things people need and putting such high prices on them is fucking stupid.

it's wild to be reminded that a lot of people consider "visual novel" to be like. an insult. a shockingly popular take that's just completely alien to me

it’s so awesome when there’s a character who isn’t canonically bisexual but is undeniably haunted by the specter of bisexuality

yet another reason why queer romance in media that is very subtle or more queer-coding than actual explicit rep is so much more compelling than the wealth of straight stories that are out there is bc I think a lot of romance writers forget that you have to like. show not tell. and imply things. and if you hustle things along and put two characters together for the sake of it instead of really working to build their relationship and show how well they work with each other it's not really going to be as interesting to people. and for some reason, a staggering amount of people do not know how to write romance properly so you get a very bland forced dynamic that either feels like an afterthought (he's a boy and she's a girl, hey they could be together because that's what happens!) or the only thing that matters about their characters (see her? she's the Love Interest. that is all she's there for)

however if you're being censored and you literally can't make your characters say "I love you" or kiss or maybe even hold hands you're going to have to come up with more creative ways to tell your audience that they're in love and that usually results in the most poetic beautiful stuff you've ever seen that's SO much more interesting than two characters who make eye contact and go into the slow-mo rose petals scene that's basically screaming at you "hey look at these two. they're in love. you're supposed to be invested in their relationship now. do you get it?" eye contact held for slightly too long in an emotional scene is more compelling. a hand very lightly touching their back is WAY more compelling.

and might I add this is not even impossible to achieve with uncensored straight romances at all like Pride & Prejudice is wildly popular for this exact reason. how many times have I seen people going insane over the hand flex scene. they didn't even kiss in that movie unless you count the extended ending. and everyone loves it. because it's done RIGHT.

tldr; romance is hard to write and you have to put in the effort if you want people to care about your ship. now go forth and imply something

QUICK EDIT TO ADD ALSO when things are more subtle that gives people more space to interpret the dynamic as whatever they want. something might be subtle because that's all they're allowed to show, but something might be subtle because that literally what it's supposed to be. as an aroace person I personally see a LOT of queerplatonic vibes from more subtly played relationships and it's so incredibly exciting and heartwarming for me. and that's a whole new realm of relationship that I think should also be given more attention

I know it has been said many times already but I don't believe that Billie Piper is the new Doctor. I think it is another Bad Wolf thing, especially considering that the credits mentioned something like a Bad Wolf team. Also parts of this episode totally reminded me of the Day of the Doctor with how the Doctor and the Rani talked about the destruction of Gallifrey. It instantly brought me back to when the War Doctor met Rose/Bad Wolf and Gallifrey was destroyed and now suddenly the Doctor "regenerates" into Rose?? Seems unlikey to me.

Cause if, how the Rani said, they all just became sterile or whatever but there was no real genocide and what we know from the Day of the Doctor is that they were all just trapped in some kind of pocket dimension then they must all be out there. Which we've been knew honestly.

This also brings me back to: Where is Susan!?!??? Why didn't she appear? What was the point in all of that????

Also why would this be Ncuti's last season? It seems so stupid, when he only had two short seasons, was hyped for ages as the new Doctor of this new big era, and also had no mentions of starring in his last season. Isn't smt huge like that normally reported on before a new season starts so that everyone can idk prepare? At least, that's how I remember it from last seasons.

I just want it to be said that like I’m rose Tyler’s biggest fan. Favourite companion. Love rose. She’s my girl. She’s literally me. Easily one of the most important characters in all of fiction to me personally. Means so so much to me that I simply cannot put into words.
