The way boys and girls are raised are fundamentally different. This is known but it's so so obvious in my hometown. Every boy in my highschool had a pocket knife. They were given cars as freshman. They played sports. They took karate and got bullets and arrows for Christmas. I was told I couldn't play baseball or any sport I wanted "because what if you get hit and ruin your womb" deadass what my mom said

I wasn't allowed self defense classes or karate. No girl I knew was. They were cheerleaders and dancers and baton twirlers. They WANTED to do something else but with no female teams for any of the actual sports and no parents would let them anyway. You know that trend going around "me at 2am when a man breaks into my house because my parents made me do x instead of self defense/karate/etc" I've seen so many men make those and they're like "me at 2am covered in blood after killing my attacker because I took karate when I was 7"

They're making jokes ands it's pissing me off. My husband got knives and "a weapon gift" every Christmas growing up with his brother's. And you know what it just makes men more dangerous. Men won't soften up so women need to harden up. It's a disservice to ask your daughter to do anything else.

We need to start letting girls do karate. Buying them pretty decorated pocket knives. Giving them mace and teaching them how to use it as well as guns when they're older. Start giving girls weapon gifts and start making them harder to fuck with.

My daughter will be taught self defense as well as weapon handling and will never be without some sort of equalizer. She'll play the sports I couldn't and learn how to use and protect her body. Every girl should.

when you confront how difficult divorce is for women despite being something hard fought for and defended by feminists and people start saying that’s because you should stay married and work things out! as if the reason that divorce is harder for women isn’t because our economic system structurally disadvantages women and then family court deliberately punishes women for attempting to undermine institutions of male supremacy, marriage and paternal authority (custody proceedings, whether or not the parents were ever married). the point is that women will find it too cumbersome and remain in unhappy or abusive relationships. it used to be even harder. everything is harder for women, by design.

Yesterday someone sent me a link to the blog of a man filming women without their knowledge, following them and making close up of their butts, then offering to sell his videos and pictures to the thousands of men liking and rebloging his posts. The blog is called @ukcandidgod. I was thinking of asking everyone to mass report but then I checked his mutuals and discovered that tumblr has a huge community of stalkers.

I clicked on a few, those men stalk all sorts of women, including mothers pushing strollers, women sitting on a bench, they also take upskirt pictures and slow motion videos of women in public and they do so with the bravado of men who don't fear any repercussion.

In one video a woman realizes that she's being followed so she enters the nearest shop and turns around in horror when realizing he's still following her and then she starts running. He laughs about it.

In a lot of videos the man describes the woman as posing for him, flexing for him, swaying her hips for him, even though the woman is minding her own business, but he constructs a fantasy in which he's not stalking her but she's luring him instead. In one video the man sexually assaults a woman, grabbing her butt and she immediately turns around and tell him not to do that.

So those are men filming as they stalk and assault women. One post had 14k notes. I'm going to vomit if I look at any more of this. But feel free to report it.

@staff is Tumblr okay with posting videos of crimes against women? Is Tumblr a good platform to profit from criminal activities? It appears so.
