I owe an enormous debt to asphodelandabsinthe, who beta'd, and who signed on to deal with maybe 8-10k words, and ended up with all of this. They have helped every inch of the way, without them there would really be no fic at all. They were the person who was stuck hearing me whine about not having an idea, and were the first I told about this concept (read: rambled on about for far longer than was probably interesting or useful) when I finally hit on it. They have made it sharper, more clever, and all over significantly better. Anything good in here was likely at least in part as a result of them—any errors or things that are bad are mine and mine alone. (And is quite possibly something I was too stubborn to listen to them on.) Other thanks are owed to A and J, whom both had to deal with me reading bits to them at various points, and have shown patience enough to humble saints. To my recipient, maraudersaffair: You gave a lot of latitude with this, and it was appreciated. It has, largely, fought me every inch of the way, and it's at least thrice as long as I had intended. I spent weeks trying to get an idea before I struck on this, and even then it refused to flow or go quickly. The first 8k or so was tough, moving in fits and starts, and the rest was even harder. Regardless, I've fallen completely in love with this concept, and am quite happy to have done it. Well for me. I really don't write fics this long anymore and HP is a fandom I very much have a love-hate relationship given my own gender and JK. But something about this fest intrigued me and I am glad I signed up. I found writing this very therapeutic. Not just from a Potter standpoint. I got a lot of personal stuff dealt with by trying to plot this out. The world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters and all that. I know the slash is subtle for most of the fic and I hope it is still loved despite that. I just saw another way the characters might have reacted to truly progress after the war. Otherwise, well nothing changes does it? I wrestled with whether to split the lyrics up more but I felt they fit more solid with Andy's headspace in part one and the themes remain further on. I need to thank the mods for some extra time and support. My wonderful beta came down with covid while looking this over and just couldn't turn it around in time. But while waiting on their recovery I did write several thousand more words so I guess it turned out how it was meant to in the end. see it on ao3!

FEMMEFEST UPDATE!

Hi everyone! We're sorry for the delay in announcing this, but (you’ve probably noticed) we are going to postpone the Femmefest gift reveals for a week. There are some small difficulties with a couple of gifts, but we hope to have everything resolved in the next few days. Once reveals start next Monday (May 16), we will reveal one gift a day until everything is done, so you won't have to suffer through any breaks. We hope everyone is getting excited! Deadline Approaching

Hi folks! We hope all of you are working hard on your gifts! As a reminder, the deadline is Sunday, April 17. If you already think you might need a little extra time, please send us an email to fslashfest@gmail.com. One-week extensions will be automatically granted. You don't need to tell us why you need it, but you do need to tell us you want it! If you need longer than that, we'll need to see some proof that you are indeed working on your gift. We hope no one needs to drop out (life happens and we understand), but if you do, please let us know that as soon as possible as well so we can get a pinch hitter. POSTING We have the 2022 Femmefest collection ready to go! Find it here! Works are moderated, unrevealed and anonymous so we can unveil them one by one.
