“I grew up on the east coast of Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I was always drawing. I picked up charcoals at the age of 20, and I just kept working on it. Starting off, I was into portraiture. A lot of the subjects I have chosen have been hip-hop, R&B and film stars. For any artist, when you’re not painting you’re not creating. It’s not a great feeling. So me having stickers of my work to put around the city, it makes me feel like I am still doing something with my art and still putting my work out there. A lot of my art is about freehanding and having fun. Of course I put a lot of thought into it, but a lot of it is just doing it.” —Mony Zakhour (@monyzakhour), a 32-year-old artist based in Toronto. Mony has drawn portraits of Kanye West, Action Bronson, Kendrick Lamar and MF Doom.
