how does one develop discipline in the first place. it seems like discipline requires initial discipline to develop. it's a paradox.

found the prettiest boots in the thrift the other day, sadly they were damaged, so i asked the shop owner about it and got them for 10€ instead of 27.50€. luckily i was able to fix em up quite easily.

before and after:

i first cover a piece of scrap fabric in modge podge and inserted it in the rip, between both layers of the shoe, i glued it to the inside of the outer layer of fabric, so the rip would be pulled together, clamped it down and left it to dry for a few hours.

after that i sewed the rip together with embroidery thread (which i thinned first, i used 2 strands of the 6 it was made up off) and used the parachute stitch, which is amazing for rips like this. its similar to a whip stitch but instead of an 0-shape you make an infinity-shape. going between the fabrics.

after that i cut away the loose threads, and sprayed both boots with protective spray.

the fix is hardly visible from afar and i think it just add to the boot anyway.

But we look back everyday- rechecking emails, making sure a friend is still behind you, checking to see if you remebered to pick up your keys. It's second nature, a habit of care.

It was second nature for him too. He looked back, not out of weakness, but love. For what is love, if not to look back?

being very online but not Mainstream Online is so perplexing. wake up one day. timeline blowing up because allegedly popular streamer Dingleberry Dan was revealed to be blending small woodland creatures into his daily protein shakes every day for 7 years. you look him up. Dingleberry Dan is the all time most popular Bejeweled Deluxe and Snhebbles Return streamer in the world. he has 67 million subscribers on youtube and 41 million followers on twitter. there are countless friends on your timeline going "i'm absolutely mortified about Dingleberry Dan's horrible critter emulsification atrocities" and "i'm really not at all surprised about Dingleberry Dan's behavior but still disappointed" in 50/50 equal measure. and in 3 days people with the 🆖 emoji in their handle will defend him like their life depends on it by saying he's integral to internet culture and he's being unfairly cancelled. and then in like 4-5 years people will occasionally bring up "hey remember when Dingleberry Dan straight up admitted to turning bunnies and squirrls into slurry every day and people still kept supporting him and he's still a multi-millionaire" but nothing really happens other than that
