Agathaumas (inspired by Chromakopia's album cover)
My oc Benny in a mask inspired by the Agathamus species of my setting.
I apologize for the irregular pauses here and there, college has been back in my schedule and it's not the greatest thing to pair with my job and tired mental state. But I'll still keep doing my best to draw, especially if I get to make silly stuff like this ha. Also I been bumping a lot of Tyler so that also makes an influence lol

Seeing anyone with any progressive position say shit like "fiction doesn't affect reality" is so disappointing and tiring. Everything we know about propaganda and bigoted media is just going to be tossed away so people can defend a zionist website like AO3, huh? I sense some conflict of interest in these defenses here.
Nearly all of the grooming and other abuse I faced on the internet were tied to the topics people talk about when they say "fiction does/doesn't affect reality", and a LARGE amount of it involved right-wingers who benefited from this defense of the fiction in question. A piece of fiction can very much influence your opinions and ideals, that's what we mean when we say it affects you. Fiction can desensitize you, fiction can distract you from problems, fiction can send any message it wants and there will be people who pick up on it.
When you deal with these topics, you inevitably run into platforms like Furaffinity, a hotbed for "fiction doesn't affect reality" in the form of people sexualizing "feral" (not furries) animals, for which the then-owner openly admitted the site was a safe haven for zoophiles (read that link), and people STILL act like Furaffinity is a bastion of progressive sexuality rather than an exploitative platform of convenience with a history of coddling real-life sex offenders and permitting alt-right bigots like Jasonafex to linger for faaar too long. They are not here to fight for us, they are here to reap from us.
When you say "fiction doesn't affect reality" you lose the right to call out virtually anything in fictional media. You lose the right to call out media that promotes bigoted viewpoints because it's "just fiction". We need the ability to discuss these problems under the same lens as how some media glamorizes animal abuse, child abuse, and similar themes. Hell, when everything is "just fiction" we don't even have the right to celebrate ethical representation in stories anymore, because this backwards argument has concluded there's no such thing as promoting a real-world concept in fiction. There is nothing progressive about sticking our heads in the sand this way, it's shooting ourselves in the foot.
I'm writing this due to something that cropped up in the transandrophobia tag. I advocate for the ability to discuss the oppression faced by transmasculine demographics, and I don't support the original post that brought up this topic as it was certainly not relevant to the hashtag and should not have been posted there. I'm writing this to provide pushback against the troubling signaling I have seen in response to it (which, itself, was not directly relevant to the tag either).
Have more respect for art. Nothing is ever "just fiction". You devalue the work of others when you reduce it to a product without impact.
