How are teenage boys claiming womanhood? is it a new trend or something and why is it bad?
it is an unfortunate trend yeah
tumblr/postmodern gender politics and queer theory have so many people convinced that gender is this mystical inherent thing that you just ~feel~ inside yourself, rather than a social role imposed upon everyone from birth
so these days all a dude has to do to claim he is a woman is say he “identifies” as one (or, if he doesn’t want to give up a shred of privilege and isn’t willing to become gender non-conforming, he could just identify as genderqueer or agender while still completely presenting hegemonic masculinity) and boom, accountability for his misogyny is swept away and he can be a rampant misogynist without any critique
its a problem because it reduces our lived realities as women to something that we’ve somehow chosen, or that what we’ve been socialised to become; submissive, apologetic, over sexualised, is part of our inherent identity. it gives people another excuse to silence us, this time under the guise of activism. if we don’t include males in our politics, our lives, our bedroom, or even if we just talk about our bodies we’re accused of transphobia/transmisogyny and practically burned at the stake.

A decade ago I went to pride and it was about 70% gay events, 20% lesbian events and 10% trans stuff.
Granted I think the split should have been different, lesbians and bisexuals should have gotten way more space.
As it's pride month I looked up the same pride this year and it's 70% trans events with the rest of the community having to split the remainder. Oh and this year's theme is "transgender acceptance"
That's not even counting that the lesbian only events and Dykes on Bikes are now full of males.
I feel so lost, lesbians have always been pushed aside but now it feels like we don't even exist.

i know i've said this before but i'm going to say it again because the more i work with geriatric women the stronger i feel about the fact that the only anti-aging that women in their 20s/30s should be obsessed with is building strong bones and muscle mass. that's like the most important thing you can you can do right now to lay a good foundation for healthy aging. you can botox the shit out of your face but that's not going to do anything to save you from dying prematurely from a fatal hip fracture that you can't bounce back from because you didn't do anything to prevent yourself from becoming frail and breakable. like i know that sounds harsh but that is reality for a lot of older women and i don't want that to be you.

people can't understand how fucking tone-deaf sabrina carpenter's album cover is. no, it's not about owning her sexuality and her desire and her kinks. it's not satire, it's not irony. it's the stupidest thing she could ever do in this political climate.
with women being treated as livestock and incubators and being stripped of their rights to bodily autonomy and financial freedom and possibly to just exist, it really is that serious.
don't fall for misogyny and white feminism disguised and empowerment.

my heart bleeds everyday for the afghan girls and women. they are housebound and have to cover themselves up from top to bottom because they have to "avoid temptation or seduction". they are not allowed to speak in public or appear in public because it is deemed "too intimate." the women can’t look at men. suicide rates have skyrocketed because women and girls would rather be dead than to be a women in afghanistan. it’s not a sin to be a women.
women and girls are denied access to healthcare because they cannot be treated by male doctors, yet they are also barred from education and, therefore, cannot become doctors themselves. shops in afghanistan are even forced to cover up female mannequins. little girls live in fear of becoming child brides, but they dream of being poets, they would kill to get education.
a woman was disqualified from the olympics because she spread the message "free afghan women" at her breakdance performance. there must always be a relative male by their side like women were dogs being treated by their owner, except dogs have more rights than the women suffering.
we must raise awareness, do not look away. these women deserve the opportunities and the human rights that EVERY person does. they are talented, creative and intelligent but men are so scared. scared of women. the taliban tries to erase women. i’m sick. remember: it’s not islam or "just their culture", it is the radical government that feels threatened by women. do not look away.
