Bee Quilt

The material has been hand dyed with turmeric, tea and onions skins. Then hand printed with lino cuts to represent the larvae, workers, drones and the single queen bee. The quilt was then then pieced, quilted and bound by hand.

The bees are arranged in a rough imitation of the structure of a hive: the queen is surrounded by workers, each drone and larvae are attended by their own workers, while others form a circle to represent a “bee dance” and some stand guard at the entrance to the hive.

A sculpture I’m working on for drawing projects.

Currently the piece represents the cycle of death and life in the natural order of things. The over all piece is supposed to represent a mushroom (since they like to feed off of decaying matter). I wrote a poem on a piece of napkin so I cut out lines that went with the them and sewed them onto it.

We will see how this all turns out!

Mushroom cap for a resin art using Stuart Semple's pinkest pink glowiest glow powder. He's the guy sticking it to Anish Kapoor with his incredible set of products. Its pink in normal light and glows this awesome orange color in the dark.
