Well, actually, Iv wasn’t crazy. If only a little. However, she saw a certain logic behind her actions. If this animal could bring certain harm, why not catch him? Not only curiosity and greed moved her. Ivakir did not want to force Bite to help her. However, she hoped that she could help her if something suddenly goes wrong. Thief smiled mischievously to girl, when she nodded. She took off the backpack and put staff on the ground. She pulled from her belt knifes and handed one of them a girl. - I guess, you know, how to use it. Then she picked up the stones and wrapped them with ropes. A wonderful way to stop the beast. Throw and this thing will wrap around the legs. - First, we need to put it on the ground, - Iv said, without taking her eyes from the creature, when it poked out.
Bite so desperately wished she had a way to tell Ivakir this was insane. But the words escaped her and she just grunted. Taking the knife, the feral inched closer towards the top of the dune, before glancing up to the wanderer she clicked her teeth. Free hand came up and rubbed the nub of what once was her right ear.
The massive, mutated kangaroo down below was fully out of the cave now. With his nose to the sand, it sniffed around the entrance, following Bite’s footprints to where the two were standing previously. It knew they were there.
“Did you just cough– blood?”
Bite hacked and gagged, spitting out another wad of blood. Her nostrils flared, and vivid green eyes locked onto the stranger. Hunkering down low, the feral growled and leaned back. A silent warning, to keep away. It was interrupted, however, when she coughed up another mouthful of blood. Something inside her was bleeding.

Brin caught her and sank down in the water to let her float on top of his chest like an otter in kelp. He simply floated around as the two others splashed each other in the water and laughed. They’d taught him how to swim all those years ago and it was moments like these where he was glad they had. Reaching down he scritched behind her ears and through her hair. She might not have language but she seemed so excited and pleased about it that he couldn’t help but smile. “I’m glad you like it Makaha.” He said and gently paddled around with them both dipped low in the water.
Makaha gave a chuff of a sound. Hunkering atop Brin as he dished out the attention and let her float atop him, the feral youth half lidded her eyes. Glancing around the oasis, she took a deeply satisfied sigh, she watched Ryder and Alaula splash one another.
The chances that she ever got to relax like this were so few and far between. It was like she had died and gone to some great afterlife. In all her travels, the youngster never once saw this much water in one place. The hand missing a finger set against Brin’s chest as she lowered a little further.
This was nice. This was really nice.

ivakir:
Iv almost fell, when girl grabbed her and dragged behind her. She kept up with her, rattling crystals that were in her pockets. - What’s the hell was that? - Iv glanced at the cave. There was something big. What Iv have never seen or heard. But then a stray thought crept into her head, causing a smile on her face. - What do you think, if we… try to catch it? - she asked with a mischievous smile, looking straight into girl’s eyes. Yes, it was “brilliant” proposal. But curiosity was stronger than her  fear. She wanted to see, what lived in that cave that evokes such fear.
She was crazy. She had to be crazy. Bite stared at Ivakir like she just sprouted scales and wings, and grew horns and a third eye. Not once in her entire time of knowing what was in that cave did the feral think of trying to catch it. It was big. It chased her, and she had seen it eat those unfortunate to get caught. She wasn’t about to go and try and do that on her own, not ever. But here was this stranger, so keen on catching it.
Bite clicked her teeth and made a few distressed and conflicted sounds. Her weight swayed from foot to foot, before she started patting herself down. She wasn’t equipped to catch the mutated kangaroo. Glancing back over the dune, she hunkered and squat. The beast had poked it’s head out from the inside of the cave, snuffing around at the entrance. It’s skull was twice that of a kangaroo from the old world, and it’s fur mottled and splotchy. Radiation burns, most like. There were countless lumps and bumps over it’s features, as well as countless scars.
Bite frowned, and then sighed. Part of her brain told her that if she didn’t help this stranger, the stranger would get eaten. And what a waste of a trip this would have been. A resigned sigh left her, and she glanced up to Ivakir and nodded.
Something inside her was bleeding.

eastkingdomboys:
The boys chuckled watching her. They could remember a time when they were so young and running around in the nude had been the norm. Alaula raced after her, being tugged along most the the way before Makaha flopped into the water. Wading in after her she reached out and gently grabbed her leg. The whole thing wasn’t terrible deep. Just about twelve feet at it’s deepest where the spring came up but it would still be easy enough for someone to drown if they didn’t know how to swim.. The water was cool and crisp and clean and when the boys followed after just a few seconds later let out a whoop and dove beneath the waters.
“Like it, do you?” Brin asked her swimming over with a bright smile.
The worlds happiest smile was written across the wild child’s face. Wriggling back to Alaula, she wrapped her arms around the woman and babbled on in her broken languages and little growls of delight.
However, when Brin came closer, she detached from Alaula and paddled awkwardly over to him. Latching onto him instead, she chittered gleefully. Swimming may as well have been literally the best thing to happen to Makaha. To the point that she wished she could properly thank the three of them for bringing her here. But the words evaded her as always, so she just made a wide assortment of pleased clicks, titters and chirrups.

Hearing the growl, Iv froze. She had never heard such sound. More precisely, she did not meet anyone who could make it. And she did not want to meet with the owner of the growl. Fear, that was ancient as death, told her that it was urgent to finish what she was doing and go away. Iv slowly stood up and, hiding the last crystal in pocket, slowly began to move back. So that’s why her new friend was so worried?
Oh good, she understood the urgency, now. Clicking her teeth, the feral nudged Ivakir once more. She didn’t want to be around when the beast woke up. Another heavy chuff and growled out sound echoed out the mouth of the cave.
Nah. Bite was not going to stick around for this. Grabbing a hold of Ivakir’s wrist, the feral bolted and raced back up the dune. She’d drag the wanderer through the sand if she had to. She’d seen the beast in daylight once, and that was enough for her. Mutated ‘roo’s were nothing to play silly with.
“Did you just cough– blood?”
Bite hacked and gagged, spitting out another wad of blood. Her nostrils flared, and vivid green eyes locked onto the stranger. Hunkering down low, the feral growled and leaned back. eastkingdomboys:
Alaula chuckled and began to wash the dirt and grime from her pouring soapy water on her hair and scrubbing her fingers through it. She cleaned every available nook, the insides and backs of her ears, the stubborn skin of her elbows and knees down to her tiniest toes and everywhere in between. She hadn’t put her in the water to keep it from getting dirtier than it needed, so instead a ring of grit and dark oil stained sand began to form around Makaha.
When she finished Ryder brought her over deep bowl of clear water and she carefully washed the soap off the little girl’s body. “There we go.” She said with a smile. With quick practiced motions she washed herself down and rinsed off before holding out her hand. “Time for that dip huh? It’ll be nice with all this heat.”
The boys laughed and finished up their washing, hanging the clothes up to dry before taking over Alaula’s basin and washing themselves as well.
She had to admit, being clean was nice. It was really nice. All the grime came off, and she felt like a brand new person! Glancing down at herself, she grinned. Hand slipped into Alaula’s for a moment, before she gave a delighted bark of a sound.
Swim time? Swim time! She had no idea how to swim, but that water was so enticing and inviting! So, the feral ended up bolting ahead, most likely dragging the woman with her unless she released her hold on Makaha’s hand. This was exciting! Once she reached the water, she barreled on in until she couldn’t run anymore and ended up flopping forward.

Turgie hissed when her hood fell back, not expecting an unmarred girl - possibly even a full-life - glaring up at him. She snarled as opposed to using speech and the idea planted itself in his head that she was feral. Maybe she was incapable of speech. He stayed hunkered over her for several more seconds before sheathing his sword and flipping his dark hood back over his head. People were starting to stare and if he was recognized, all hell would break loose. He was murdering scum and the tally of warboys he’d slaughtered was scarred into his left arm. Whispers reached his ears as he furtively scanned the surroundings. He’d have to snag whatever guzzoline he could before they caught up to him. And if the feral pointed the way to where he went, he’d be captured and killed or imprisoned. He stood carefully, moving slowly and gently. The muscles in his jaw stood out as he slowly said “come with me unless you want to die.”
Her eyes narrowed, watching as he returned his weapons to their holds and as he rose off her. And the moment she was clear to move? The feral jerked and rolled to her back, before trying to scramble away. She understood the word die, all too well. And she had no intentions of dying today. Kicking up sand under her barely-covered feet, she bolted away from the Citadel...
Only to run face first into a rock outcropping. A surprised yelp escaped her as she bounced back. This was getting her nowhere fast. Shaking her head, her eyes narrowed, and she glanced back at Turgie. It was only then that she took note of the Wretched watching them. A hiss and a snarl was offered to the gawkers, before slinking back to Turgie’s side. A snort of a huff escaped her.

Iv took the crystal. It gently poured in her hands. “I can exchange them on something profitable.” In her head flashed pictures of good deals and pay. But then she stopped. Perhaps she could take only a limited amount? Perhaps this cave was home to this girl? If this were so, Iv didn’t want to be rude guest and take a lot. Because nothing comes as a gift, except for the grace of God. - How much can I take? - Iv asked with a silly smile.
Bite stared at Ivakir like she was crazy. The sense of urgency was rising in her, so she dumped the second cluster that she had grabbed into the wanderer’s hands. A low growl rose from the inside of the cave, causing the Feral to startle. Eyes wide, she shoved Ivakir roughly back towards the dune.
Something was in the cave, and whatever it was, was waking up.

As soon as Turgie felt the weight on his shoulders, he dropped to the ground and struggled out from under the foreign girl. Adrenaline surged through his thin, ropelike frame as he fought the girl. He threw his weight on top of her and soon had her chest straddled between his thighs and a short, sharp sword hovering mere inches above her throat. He sucked in breaths, his black eyes darting around to make sure no one was giving him much attention. His hood had slipped off in the tussle, revealing fluffy black hair, a gaunt face, and a long, straight scar that ran from forehead to chin and partially closed his left eye. He leaned in and practically snarled, “what do you want, Wretched?”
Turgie was a vagrant; a nomad; a vagabond; a wanderer; a bandit; whatever name he went by, he traveled the waste and pillaged, murdered, and by otherwise unsavory means ensured his continued survival. The only weapons he carried were twin swords buckled to his hips and a pistol stolen from some gastown boys strapped to the front of his thigh. He traveled light and spoke to no one, only venturing into town when it was absolutely necessary. This was just a run for guzzoline before he returned to his vehicle and sped in another direction as fast as it would carry him.
Bite let out a barked sound of fury as she was pinned. When the sword was set towards her neck, her eyes narrowed and she went deathly still. Lips peeled back and she sneered up at him, before growling. No words, from this one. Her hands set against his knees and she gave him a shove. A get-off-me kind of shove. He wasn’t a War Boy. He wasn’t what she wanted.
Her own hood had come away from her face to display her face. She wasn’t Wretched, that much was apparent. But she clearly wasn’t in leagues with the Immortan, either. Auburn hair was choppy and cut in a messy manner, dark clay or soot rounding under her eyes that made her look more tired than she actually was. And she didn’t look too sickly, past being malnourished.

Laughing Alaula motioned to the clothes and Brin scooped them up, bringing them to the growing pile as the adults shed their clothes as well. The Brin brought out another basin and filled it with water and small slivers of soap while Ryder plunged his hands into the water and took them out once it was steaming. With a laugh Ryder filled a third basin with just water and strung up ropes between the two free mounts and the wagon.
The two boys began washing the clothes and chatting and laughing between the two of them leaving Alaula to mix in soap to the water for Makaha. “Close you’re eyes okay sweety? I don’t want you getting this soap in them.” Alaula said laughing and wetted the cloth, holding out her hand for Makaha to step closer.
The feral watched as her clothes were snatched up and taken away. Scrunching up her nose, she inched closer towards Alaula. A little huff was given, and she peered towards the water. And then at Alaula’s hand. And then the cloth. Waddling right up to her, Makaha shut her eyes and scrunched up her face.
She honestly had no idea what to expect, with this all. All she knew was that there was water with weird white bubbles, and that Brin and Ryder took her clothes away. Maybe they were all nudists. Maybe she was destined to run around naked forever more. That would be kind of nice, no cloth restricting her... Maybe even if they gave the clothes back, she would run around naked anyways! Who knew.

To Flee
my-quiet-warboy
The times that the War Boys managed to catch the feral and haul her up the towers were few and far between. But every so often, they managed to snag her and keep her captive. All for the name of sport, one would find out. They would strike fear into her heart, and then release her for a hunt.
This was one such time.
They had her up in one of the caged for just shy of a week before she was let out of the suspended prison. And she always fled like a terrified animal. She had started to learn what routes not to take, though, she’d experienced this enough times. Working her way as fast as she could, she rounded a corner and found herself in a room. A room with vehicles, and just a couple confused, younger looking War Boys.
Deep green eyes were wide with terror, and her chest was heaving as she threw herself to the side and against the wall, much to the confusion of the two in the room. Maybe if they stayed quiet enough, the pack following after her with their sticks and crowbars would just sail past on their search.
She knew that wasn’t likely. Regardless, her eyes stayed trained on the two chalk-back youths.

✚ for a HEALTH headcanon.
Bite is in relatively decent health, despite being malnourished. she’s got all her limbs and extremities, and no lumps and bumps.
♕ for a CHILDHOOD headcanon.
Bite doesn’t remember much about her childhood. She remembers her parents often wore wrappings all over themselves, and they spoke with thick and heavy accents.
✿ for a HAPPINESS headcanon.
It’s honestly the little things that make Makaha Bite happy. Finding something that sparkles, or that she can use is the best thing in the world, next to a drink of water.

What is religion? Can you eat it?

The Hunted
team-warboys
It wasn’t often that War Boys descended to the levels of the wretched. And even more uncommon that they went down in smaller groups. The Cursed from the ground paid them no mind, however... For the most part, anyways.
There was one set of eyes in particular that followed the white skinned bullet fodder as they milled about at the bottom of the stone towers. Perched high up on one of the outcroppings, the one known as Bite stalked closer. Hunting. A chance like this came once in a blue moon. She wasn’t about to waste it. Closer, and closer she came, until she was quite literally right atop them. Element of surprise was hopefully on her side, this time. Shifting, she leaned and... dropped her weight on the first war boy below her!
