Dinner with the whole family sounded splendid and with the amount of guests they had over, Fergus decided that he should lend his wife a helping hand when it came to handling some duties in the kitchen. While she cooks, he could properly prepare the table or give her the ingredients she needed to make a great meal. As they were about to go to the kitchen, Louie brought up Kelpies, a species which he may have heard of? There's a familiar sound to their name, but, when your well over a century old, several new species or new concepts begin to sound familiar. He listened to the conversation between Scroogie and the children, having a few thoughts about the dangers these kids have experienced while adventuring. He trusts that his son can keep them safe, there's no doubt in that, none at all……
Tumblr media
The penny-pinching tendencies Scrooge has are nothing new, everyone already knew his standpoint on that, he's just…just a little hung up on the statue and risk portions of their adventure? If a golf tournament can be considered one? Mcudcks are a family of brave adventurers, of brave men and women, that didn't stop Fergus from worrying.
“Yes quite good, laddie. Made me heart do flips! Nearly turned into your mother, worryin’ as I did ‘bout you lot!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Castle Mcduck, Modern Year.
There are times when Fergus thinks about his legacy, what little one he had to show for himself, anyway. He was a poor man, a laborer, for much of his long life and had nothing to show for all his time working around. His decision to give his only son an American dime to teach him a lesson in self-reliance had started a landslide of events that led to his son’s growing wealth and despite the immense pride he took in him for making a name worth standing for, it pained Fergus to linger on. Ever since that encounter with Dirty Dingus Mcduck, he started to reflect more and more on his place as this family’s head, if that honor should really be his or not. Had he been mooching off of Scrooge’s good fortune? Had he been too harsh on the boy during his last visit? He loved him dearly, his harshness usually revolved around the pain that came with hardly seeing his kin, that much he'd told the boy but was it justified? He didn't even help rebuild the home he sleeps in, did he truly have a right to feel the way he did about him? Or to make the claims he’s made?
Tumblr media
He’s done so little for him in recent years, all he's succeeded in doing is pushing their relationship further apart and argue about pointless things, or at least, now they seemed rather pointless. Arguing did seem to be the love language of their family, a feature most of their descendants inherited or were taught in life. As a younger man, he despaired over them, but, grew to be used to it as years went on——maybe they’d all been wrong, selfish, for allowing themselves to fall into that generational trap. This next visit, he swore, he’d do better and he'd try harder, that’s a vow he made on his honor as a McDuck.
Scrooge’s next visit shouldn't be too far away, he hoped, its been increasingly more difficult to keep track of the time in the castle with there being no modern calendars or any cellular device to rely upon. Downy was surely fretting about the household and its cleanliness downstairs, she always did, so he got up and began to walk away from his thoughts in order to go help his precious wife with the household duties, he'd been doing more of that recently, not that he's never helped at all, just a small thing he noticed since last visit.

“He was all black with these glowing green eyes. A typical phantom in appearance I’d say as far as one’s I’ve seen go!” Huey responded to Downy, unfortunately, all the key details of the hound's appearance are rather basic, like several other specimens of supernatural creatures. That didn't make it any less impactful or terrifying however nor did it take away from what made it unique to begin with. The legends solidify its legacy and a legacy isn't breakable simply due to being ‘typical’ in the eyes of a child.
Tumblr media
“Interestin’ ya think that Lad, y’really must know what yer talkin’ about t’label such a beast that way.” Fergus has seen a few spirits in his time and with that knowledge he still wouldn’t be able to identify a typical one from a unique one appearance-wise.

Huey found this all fairly fascinating and thought about the number of hauntings this castle is said to have, how many of those instances were manufactured? He repeatedly tapped his pen against his cheek in thought, exploring all the possibilities mentally. Uncle Scrooge himself had visited the castle and despite creating a haunting himself, he had experiences that turned his hair feathers completely white! The Whiskervile clan could have certainly done things to mess around here and about, but, he claims it’s something that he cannot explain. Unexplained! That’s a word he loves! Unexplained! It means there's more to it and that's what he's here to explore. His eyes sparkle, he's excited, very excited, fixated on that word.
Tumblr media
“Ah’ve got reason to think that this here castle is part of some hauntin’, jus’, not a traditional one. Ah cannae tell ya what’s true or false on me own, but, Tis an interestin’ mystery to uncover……with someone supervising. Though…There are legends of a hound roamin’ about these halls. Me Da used to—” Fergus tilted his head to the side as Huey seemed to grow more eager, it was almost as if he just confirmed something without knowing what he just confirmed.
“The hound! We saw one our first visit!” Huey grinned.

“Glad to be’o’help t’ya, Lassie.” Fergus welcomed her into his arms and gently rubbed circles in her back, a gesture he found to be comforting as a young lad following a harsh ridiculing from his father, Dirty Dingus McDuck. He never gave much elaboration on his own past or feelings, he hardly spun tales about his childhood and the adventures he faced while growing up under that man’s roof either, he instead focused on telling the children of his day and of his work. To any small child, there remains a level of interest in what their parents did for a living, and the truth of his youth is that it was spent unhappy, well, unhappy for several years—Jake was his best friend during those rough times while Angus remained dreaming of sailing across the sea, of going into America to make a small living for himself. He would've considered them all very lucky if they had an uncle like Scrooge, a man whose afraid of no one, and who could stand up for theterrible wrongs done to them, it would've meant a lot to him to be raised by someone like him. The Webby situation isn't one he'd been familiarized with and it wouldn't have changed his opinion of Scrooge even if he had, yes, his son could be harsh in moments of stress, but, he definitely would've known that his son accepted Webby as his daughter or at very least treat her as though she is part of their family. He saw that connection during their very first visit together, how he complimented her for being a bright and gifted child, those weren't throwaway compliments.
Tumblr media
He stepped back from their embrace soon later and took it upon himself to gesture toward the inside of their castle. If nobody interfered, then, this could last all day long which wasn't exactly an issue, but, the boys and Webby probably wished to explore the old castle while the adults talked “Make yourselves at home,” He told everyone, “You lot can take any room you like.” they've got several rooms to spare. He used to get lost on his way to the master bedroom of Castle McDuck, so he advised the children to stay close to the stairwell——it's easier to find your way back and eliminates the chance of them wandering about. He understood that his grandchildren had explored the depths of his home before, that they could find their way around with fewer issues than he encountered as a first-time resident here, yet, having that knowledge didn't mean he shouldn't worry.
“I was actually meaning to ask you about the hauntings that take place here!” Huey exclaimed, retrieving a pen from his pocket and meeting Fergus’s gaze rather eagerly.
“What’o’them?” asked Fergus, he expected these questions, just not so soon after the conversation they had finished.
“Of everything! I'd like to know what has happened here in full detail!” Huey was fully prepared to be sitting there for hours if he had to before his own exploration of their ancestral home.
“Would you like to help me out, lad?” Fergus’s gaze fell on Scrooge, it’s an opportunity for them to tell the various stories surrounding this place together, a bonding activity for them.

Fergus empathized with her when it came to parenthood, that's an adventure many struggle with and it’s one most aren't ready for. Young parents can be irresponsible with how they go about their lives, acting as though they don't have a responsibility back at home, going on with how they'd usually be before the existence of their children came to be. What mattered most is that Della came back to them and that she cared enough about the children to give motherhood an honest go.
“Mom, your here, trying now and that’s what matters. We have both You and Uncle Donald now.” Huey unknowingly voiced his great-grandfather’s thoughts in an attempt to reassure Della that he believed in her capabilities of being a mother to them. It was definitely a touching moment to bare witness too, children, even the most brilliant ones, can be awfully forgiving, and forgiveness was harder to achieve as children grew older, more aware, of the weight of their world.
Tumblr media
“Ah wasnae ready for fatherhood meself, hardly made enough t’feed Downy and Ah. We were poor folk with no riches to our name, it was hard t’afford much else, let alone wee young ones runnin’ about the home. It was a regret Ah always will have, Scroogie was helping with money when he was their age, no boy should have t’help pay off bills. What makes a difference, Della, is that we give’em lessons that’ll help’em grow, Ah taught Scroogie to be self-reliant, and Donald taught your boys what he learned. You've got to find a place is all, find something valuable to teach the lads and you'll be doing right.” Fergus reached down and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, its a difficult time of adjustment and discovery for her, and he knew that within time she'll find her own path when it came to these boys. She just needed time to figure things out.

Della’s revelation of her whereabouts over the last decade was a difficult concept for a man his age to comprehend. He understood that man has visited the moon before, and that space travel had been made possible many years ago——It’s easy to hear about these things from newspaper articles and to slowly accept that a world is modernizing around you. It’s harder to hear it spoken, harder to realize that the modernized world had enough flaws with its technology which led to someone, his granddaughter, becoming stranded on the moon. All of these new inventions came way after his youth, most forget that he’s from the early 1800’s, cars hadn't even been invented until he reached full adulthood, those were a thrill of his years out in the world.
Tumblr media
Scrooge may have built her a rocket, an irresponsible action on his account, that didn't at all mean he was ready for her to use it. He’s a more reasonable man than he had been last time, the blame wouldn't solely be placed on Scrooge, it'd be blamed on the employee who informed Della of the rocket’a existence in the first place.
“Ah dinnae think y’should be too hard on yourself, Ah’m in nae position t’talk about rockets, they are long after my time, but, Ah do know that you were tricked by some bloody bampot! And knowin’ Scroogie……all this wouldnae happen had he knew. You've suffered enough, blaming yourself will only hurt more in the end.” He gazed at her sympathetically, a mother would never abandon her children on purpose, that’s something he'd be confident in for eternity.

Fergus allowed himself to smile while holding his son close to him, it certainly was a grand feeling to be able to hold him without the looming fret of an argument. From behind Scrooge, he saw Della and Donald, the pair of twins he hadn't seen in some years now “It’s been quite some time since Ah saw y’two about.” He released Scrooge from his hold and approached his first set of grandchildren, scanning over their features to see how much they'd grown. Donald dressed in naval attire instead of the pre-teen boyband junk he used to go sporting, an interesting change of dress, he wondered if the lad joined the navy. As for Della, well, she's about the same as she's always been, a pilot, he scanned her further and finally noticed the mechanical leg. What had happened to her!? He squawked in shock.
Tumblr media
“D-Della, Lass, your leg! What has happened t’ya?” He didn't quite hear Louie’s question about the treasure over his worrying about Della’s health.
“I think we should save our questions for a later time,” Huey observed, he can sense that this wasn't the most opportune moment to be inquiring about any ghosts or in Louie’s case, treasure, their great grandfather was having a natural reaction toward seeing their mother and the leg injury she had sustained while being away on the moon for so long “He clearly is in shock about mom’s leg.”

Huey carefully stepped out of the Cloudslayer, onto the rough terrain that led to Castle McDuck. The red triplet, with his Junior Woodchuck notepad in hand, ventured out and ahead of his uncles, Dewey alongside him. His brother looked down at his book briefly and rolled his eyes, typical Huey, looking to document things instead of enjoying the moment as it was. Dewey chased stardom and internet fame, which none could be found in the castle, it was far too old and boring to become anything important to a modernized world of television stars. That didn't mean the personal value was lost on the boy however, he still considered it an important part of their family. Huey was the one interested in historical significance and investigating it in the name of education. The boy was interested in the specters of their ancestors, seeing if he could find any means of contacting them once more.
“Isn’t it great to be back,” The red clad triplet asked, breathlessly, as if the view was enchanting him with its beauty. Dewy saw nothing ahead except an outline of a castle, mist and darkness, it wasn't the most pleasant sight, in fact, it was quite startling for those who believe in ghost stories. “There’s so much more to learn about the hauntings! According to my Junior Woodchuck’s gu—” Dewey took his phone out and scrolled through his profile, occasionally nodding his head along with Huey or vocalizing agreement through small noises.
Tumblr media
Once they reached the entrance and the door was firmly knocked, their great grandmother came rushing out to give them her affection and attention. She's a very kind elderly lady, nurturing and strong-spirited, always the first one here to see them in. Huey smiles at her and awkwardly returned her embrace before she let him go.
“Ah’m comin’, Ah’m comin’” Fergus responded from the hallway he'd been walking down. It took him a few short minutes to reach the doorway and when he had? He froze slightly at the sight of Scroogie, worried about his vow and his ability to truly keep it. Having doubts is natural, but, quite out of character for him——then again, his whole reflective period as of late also went against his character. The older duck made himself speak, certain to keep his tone soft and delicate, the tone he usually reserved for his daughters and granddaughters “‘Tis great t’see ya, lad.” He offered Scrooge a hug.

He loved him dearly, his harshness usually revolved around the pain that came with hardly seeing his kin, that much he'd told the boy but was it justified? He didn't even help rebuild the home he sleeps in, did he truly have a right to feel the way he did about him? Or to make the claims he’s made?

Hello and welcome to my roleplay blog! There are a few rules that I have before we can get to introductions and the most important one of all is that you must be 18 or older to interact. This is for your own safety. I am a 22-year-old adult. Please DNI if you're below the age limit.
Another rule that connects to the first is that I do not ship Minors x Adults or do any shipping with the minor characters I do muse. While I am mainly a Fergus McDuck muse, I am open to musing any of the main cast or some of The McDuck Ancestors. As for Fergus himself, if there is someone out there who has a character who would want to be with him, there'd have to be a specific circumstance as he's incredibly loyal to Downy and would never betray her.
I would like to form an OOC relationship, to create friendships, if there's some sort of set up you prefer like OOC Disocrd, RP Tumblr, do let me know! While this one isn't a rule, it's just good to make friend, yknow?
Now for introductions! My name is Rose! I am an INFJ with a special interest in Fergus McDuck and his family. I love making him lore and some of it does hold a darker theme (I am open to dark themes, 100 percent okay if your not!) and so that's why we don't know much about him beyond surface level details. I typically roleplay in a more literate style, but, am open to any as well!
