This is the Elion-Hitchings Building. It’s futuristic look had it appearing in science fiction films and TV, most notably Brainstorm, Natalie Wood’s last film. It was built in 1972. Sadly (and perhaps predictably) it was just demolished after being abandoned for years. Interesting looking but the shapes were a terrible use of space, making a significant percentage of the interior square footage unusable.

Dating and relationships in the digital age
Amid growing debates about the impact of smartphones and social media on romantic relationships, a Pew Research Center survey conducted in October 2019 finds that many Americans encounter some tech-related struggles with their significant others.
For instance, among partnered adults in the U.S. – that is, those who are married, cohabiting or in a committed relationship,  51% say their partner is often or sometimes distracted by their cellphone while they are trying to have a conversation with them, and four-in-ten say they are at least sometimes bothered by the amount of time their partner spends on their mobile device.
From distractions to jealousy, here is a look at how Americans navigate cellphones and social media in their romantic relationships.

Hi. My name is Fred (right) and I’m one half of Burgerlords.  Max (left), my brother, makes up the other half.  For those who may or may not know, Burgerlords started out as a blog almost 7 years ago.  How it morphed into a restaurant is a whole other post, but for now, I just wanted to introduce ourselves and get this thing going again.
It’s been almost four years since we opened our first location in Chinatown, and since then we haven’t really had the opportunity to really tell our story and how we grew to become the company we are today.  This page hasn’t been active for awhile, so we figured it would be a good platform to share this kind of stuff.  Before Instagram, Tumblr was our go to.  It’s flexible, chronological, good for sharing, and no follower counts.  It’s just place to speak freely and not a competition.  I feel like Instagram has kind of re-wired our brains to think we all need to out do each other and compete for each others attention.  Something we never worried about or had to even take into consideration.
Growing up pre-internet, I have seen so many waves come and go, but I think the best was always blogs.  It was a glance behind the curtain at what someone was thinking/doing purely for the sake they wanted to share it with the world.  It wasn’t marketing, it was just a point of view.
If you travel back into the archives of this page you will find a treasure trove of wacky images/gifs that we had collected/made a very, very long time ago.  Like anything else, after 7 years our tastes have definitely changed.  Aside from that, we have a completely new business that didn’t exist back then.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that our goal with this new re-incarnation of the site will be to share some of the inspiration behind the restaurants now.  Some behind the scenes takes on what we have going on day to day, as well as some old stories on how we got where we are now.  Some posts will be long, some just images, but regardless of that, going to do my best to share something new here everyday.  Thanks. -Fred
