i don’t know how to explain to you people that no matter what a country’s government is like i do not and will not support the US indiscriminately bombing that country’s civilians and i don’t know why that’s a controversial take tbh

i agree with you on the not relishing war thing, i dont understand people who say killing others will fix anything, wont that just make more hate?

it does!! it fucking does. like when you get two peoples who already have various political beef, and then there's war and before you know it people are having their communities destroyed, their children killed, their country blown to bits.... do you think there's any easy going back from that? regardless of the context, regardless of who might be the primary aggressor, regardless of any justifications there might have once been... violence on that scale just breeds absolute seething hatred.

I grew up in the tail end and messy immediate aftermath of a civil war. I was part of the group that was historically the more oppressed. my people have been driven out, murdered, treated like second-class citizens, singled out for torture and detention without charge or trial. and for the longest time I had no fucking sympathy for the other side. I hated them. hated them. and I hated the foreign collaborators too. it turned me into a hateful person who detested entire nationalities and religions across the board. it took a lot of learning and processing and reading history for me to realise that we all suffered, and that regardless of how things ended up we were all used, manipulated, and violated in the same way.

the culture of war that's been increasingly obvious in the 21st century baffles me. after the previous century, and with such reminders all through the 90s, it blows my fucking mind how casual some people are about the idea of war. how I've seen it celebrated, welcomed, heard people ask 'why don't we just bomb them?', seen people justify wars and air strikes over the most arbitrary shit, use other wars and genocides to excuse new ones, cheer for people being manipulated by states like America, count war as just another necessity, an inevitability... no. we should not accept war as part of the human condition.

and I am betting most people who relish any part of it have never lived it. they've never known that terror. never known what it's like to walk down a street not knowing if a bomb or a bullet has their name on it. never known the fear of waking to wailing air raid sirens and hearing the distant thuds coming closer, the horizon going orange. never known the hatred in somebody's eyes while they hold you at gunpoint and you know if they want to kill you for some arbitrary reason they will. never known what it's like to kill or be killed, to watch friends be killed, to smell decomposing flesh from deep under the rubble, or know the way your legs feel when you know each step could bring you to the mine just under the surface. until they know this intimately, I wish they'd shut up and think about what they're saying.

and on the occasions where someone does know this and still clamours for war, that's a tragedy too. to hate like that is a spiritual rape that should never, ever have happened. there is no greater evil than war.

Lowkey you can tell when a pride flag was made before or after their primary use shifted to Online. The way colors display digitally vs as a physical object etc. Also if you need ten different extremely specific shades of the same color that's wildly impractical. Remember when people were discoursing about that gayboy flag having a meaningful difference depending on if it was slightly more blue or greenish

Leaving aside that any variation of "this is happening because leftists wouldn't pinch their nose and vote for the lesser evil™" about the bombing of Iran is just factually untrue (Harris made it repeatedly clear that she considered Iran a threat which she would make a priority to stop with military force, and Democrat presidents don't exactly have a track record of being more opposed to bombing middle-eastern countries than Republican presidents), it's just such a perfect demonstration of first-world ghoulishness how so many self-proclaimed progressive americans will see people in another country get bombed and their first though will be "I should use this to votescold other americans" before the bodies are even cold.
