they should invent a home that makes me feel safe
baking a batch of cookies while listening to music through the tv at full blast. turning on the string lights when the sun sets. watering the plants when the sun rises. lighting candles midday. leaving my room without an increased heart rate, driving home without crying down I-95, a desire to come home

part of a poem I just wrote.
the only reason I'm posting this is because I know no one will see it but I am experiencing this and you can read it too.
they say that being a mother’s daughter is a blessing
but with our flavor of generational curses, it’s more of a hell
doomed to live forever in blood, violence, and silence
the dog’s heart grew larger than yours and he died from it,
my heart is drained every day I stay, I am not far behind
you will soon lose everything, and only have yourself to blame.
Mother, Mother, punish me for this blasphemy,
eat me whole and rebirth me,
so that I can be your divine daughter.

I was complaining to my mentor about *gestures towards all of society* and she asked me if I understood the concept of reincarnation. and I said I did. and she said "I think reincarnation is real, and I think your entire generation are old souls who came back way too soon. you guys came back and were like 'really? we're still doing this?' and you're just tired of the system, of the greed, of the cruelty. you all deserve spiritual and physical rest."
