Dude, I'm not consistent for shit. The only time I post on here is when I'm procrastinating while actually being on my laptop. Regardless, it's been pretty dope out here. I've been getting into the scene more and hardcore punk in my city has been nothing short of an adventure. It's just great to be able to partake in something I so desperately needed as a high schooler. I'm in college now but it's just nice being able to fulfill something your adolescent self would've killed to have. Still doing journalism and still doing radio. It's been getting better. Made some dope pals along the way.

tl has been discussing poc in alternative scenes specifically punk scenes recently. punk has been a big spintrest for me for a while so id thought id share some bands with poc members that deserve love!!

limp wrist , queer hardcore punk from albany, new york, usa. martin sorrondeguy is latino (also apart of los crudos)

los crudos , hardcore punk band from chicago, illinois, usa. all members are latino

despise you , powerviolence band from californa, usa. some if not all members are latino

Revive? 06.27.2023

It’s been a while and I literally have no followers but that’s not really the point. I want to get back to writing. I do have a job as an editor but I’d like to make it a hobby too... Which might be one too many hobbies already as is. Anyways, a quick recap of what’s been going on is that I have expanded my musical horizons (and by that, I literally just mean I reduced my habitual playing of a 6-string to a 4-string). I am still clueless about how the hell to use music software but I’ll try to figure it out with Reaper this time. Also, I am starting to host a music radio show at my local university station so that’s fun. Mostly punk rock, metal, all the counter-culture stuff. The gig as sick as hell. It’s unpaid but music isn’t always about the money, maaaan. Just figured I’d start this shit back up. This intended to be more of a blog for my progress on a solo album but it just might be for me now. Who knows!

I’ll just sign off here and hopefully come back for more. Cleaning up and dusting my office space has made my susceptibility to using my computer a lot higher.

I have work soon. Warehouse work is definitely not that fun where I am. At least the city itself isn’t so bleak.

Anyways, I rewatched “The Social Network” since we watched in a writing class I’m in. Man, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross really made this movie a lot better. Like every scene is amplified by Trent’s signature sound, a lot of which reminded me of some tidbits from “The Fragile” (a masterpiece).

Movie gave me some inspiration music-wise and had some really cool themes within it so there’s that.

I gotta go. I’m trying to cram this group project that isn’t really a group project because everyone forgot (including me). Damn you education!

I just sketched an idea for this whole music project idea I had. I never really took the creative process as seriously as I should’ve. To be quite honest, the farthest I’ve gotten to making a legitimate piece of music was for a high school project I took on. Four. Bloody. Hours. That’s how long it took me to make a decent rhythm with guitar chords (is it rhythm?). Lo and behold, I ended up re-creating “Bother” by Stone Sour like a complete dumbass.

This, however, this is different. Not sure how, not sure why, but I just feel it. You know the difference between me, Prince, and Trent Reznor, is that those guys were talented. Me? I’m just some mechanical engineering student who is putting off C++ projects because my brain swells with how bad it overheats trying to comprehend such a thing.

I know it’s not 2007 where Tumblr is fresh with all these brand new ideas and where scene kids were a common site at your local mall (Is Blood On The Dancefloor even a thing anymore?). Either way, I am so much more comfortable at this than TikTok... I’m not photogenic for TikTok and I’m so awkward with a camera recording me.

Anyways, I managed to download Ableton on my new laptop and configure some stuff for StudioOne on this one. Now all I have to do is use my pea-brain to figure these programs out and make music with a very barebones understanding of music theory (it might not be an issue to make a good song but damn, does it bother me). Hopefully, I can pull off a “Pretty Hate Machine” thing where I make the whole thing myself. (I mean, Lil Nas X could do it too but...he used TikTok so maybe I might not be as lucky).

Well that’s all, I have to go plot a few graphs from some damn code string.
