FFVII Rare Pair Week 2025

So what’s your favourite Final Fantasy VII related rare pair? Do you have more than one? Here’s a chance to showcase them and help them move up from being rare! Not all parts of the pairing have to be from FFVII, and you don’t have to do the same pairing or group for the whole week! ** Pairings can be romantic or platonic. **

Below we have a list of prompts for this year. Feel free to be as creative with those as you want to, and take your time working on your entries, but please don’t forget to post them on the right date if you can. (But remember, no matter how late it’s better than never!)

For this event we are using a category approach. You can use the category as a theme for your prompt and the listed items suggested ideas. If none of the prompts give you any ideas, don’t worry! You can create anything you like for the week, provided it involves a rare pair! The goal of the week is to celebrate and share our rare pairs more than to just follow a list. Be it art, writing, mood boards, or even fic recs, just spread the love!

Feb. 16 | Day 1. Extreme Weather/Natural Disaster. How does your pairing deal with an extreme weather event? If you’re the type to lean toward happy stories, this could be a run of good weather days. If you like your angst, well, this year has already given us some examples of what happens when nature goes wild.

Feb. 17 | Day 2. Sick Day/Medical. Is one of your pairing sick or injured? Or if you don’t like dealing directly with sickness, do they need to cover for a co-worker who has called out sick?

Feb. 18 | Day 3. Crossover. Mix it up with another game, or movie, or book, etc. Mix in your other favourite media, whether the setting, or another character for your pair to meet, or another plot they’re stuck sorting out.

Feb. 19 | Day 4. Events. There’s an event in the calendar. Is it a big to-do? A private date night? Are they celebrating something, or is it a memorial date? What has warranted being marked on their calendar? And what are they going to do about it?

Feb. 20 | Day 5. Free Day/Combo Day. Combo space to mix and match prompts from this year (or a previous year’s list) or go wherever your canoe takes you!

Feb. 21 | Day 6. Pets/Children. How does your pairing feel about pets and/or children? Do they have any? Do they want to? Are they the cool aunts who just want to return them at the end of the day after much sugar or the house with all the cats? Is it a point of contention in their relationship?

Feb. 22 | Day 7. Arts. Music, visual arts, dance. Art can be expressed and appreciated in so many forms. How does your pairing participate in art? Do they have an artistic hobby? Do they share in that hobby, or is one more “talented’? Do they try to get the other(s) involved? (Imagining the pottery moment in Ghost.) Do they have contrasting skills and collaborate? Are they competitive? Do they involve pets/children (if any)?

Doujinshi Sales NOW LIVE

A while before Christmas, I put out a feeler post asking if people would be interested if I sold my doujinshi—the answer was resoundingly yes. So, here you are!

The majority of books are Sephiroth/Cloud and Zack/Cloud, with a couple of others featuring SOLDIERs, Turks, and Remnants. There is also some merchandise, including the Ultimanias and old Play Arts.

I have already posted the link to followers and people who specifically asked to be tagged before going to the wider public—the Sephiroth/Cloud fans have been ravenous, you might find only slim pickings left for the major Sefikura circles. Sorry. But if you're a Zack/Cloud fan, rejoice, an entire feast remains for you.

There are easily at least 200 books left up for sale, so please take a look!

Welcome to the page of the first edition of GenGeal Week, a fan event ran by @ilminnestrone and @unknown-lifeform to celebrate the relationship between Commander Genesis Rhapsodos and Commander Angeal Hewley!

The event is going to take flight (see what we've done here?) on April the 21st, so you will have 19 weeks to think about the prompts we prepared for you. We created two separate lists to satisfy even the most demanding palates:

Barret Wallace was born December 15th, 1972, in the mining town of Corel. He is most well known as the leader of the second incarnation of the ecoterrorist group AVALANCHE. His canonical height has been listed as 6′4 and 6′5, with blood type O.

Born and raised in Corel, Barret was married to a woman named Myrna who was suffering from an unspecified illness. When ShinRa offered to put a Mako Reactor in Corel, Barret was one of the people who pushed for the community to agree against the wishes of his close friend Dyne.

In 2003 during the events of Before Crisis, the original AVALANCHE occupies the reactor and Barret helps the Turks take it back. Unfortunately, it is stil destroyed, and ShinRa blames the people of Corel with the false accusation of them having aided AVALANCHE. Corel is destroyed on the President’s order, and the executive director of the Weapons Development Department (Scarlet) has troopers open fire on Barret and Dyne. Dyne, having fallen off the path, was only hanging on by his grip on Barret’s hand. When the troopers fired, they destroyed the two clasped hands, and Dyne fell presumably to his death.

In the aftermath, Barret returns and finds Dyne’s daughter, Marlene, and adopts her as his own. He eventually receives a prosthetic gun arm via Shalua Rui and goes to Cosmo Canyon where he learns about AVALANCHE. Not knowning the name of the terrorists who had led to the destruction of his home, Barret ironically takes their name when he later founds an anti-ShinRa group in Midgar.

When AVALANCHE later reaches the western continent, they cross into North Corel where the survivors of the disaster have settled, most of which are openly hostile to Barret and blame him for the destruction of their original town. By this point, the Gold Saucer has been built directly over the ruins.

Despite his rough speech and quick temper, Barret is shown as an intelligent man who is passionate about his beliefs and conflicted between his need to be with his adopted daughter and to save the future of the Planet she’s growing up in. While he sees it as his responsibility to fight for the Planet, Barret also grieves for the lives lost along the way and is aware there is also innocent blood on his hands.

After the original game, Barret appears in the novella On the Way to a Smile: Case of Tifa where he reunites with Marlene and helps establish Edge. He is the focus in Case of Barret, where he spends time searching for alternative fuel sources, trying to atone for his past, and requisitions a new attachment to his gun arm that can provide him with a mechanical hand and a more normal life. Staying in touch with the others, he is quick to return to Edge in Advent Children to help fight Bahamut SIN, and later leads the ground assault on Midgar during the final battle against Deepground in Dirge of Cerberus.

Chronologically, Barret is first met in Before Crisis at the age of 31. He is the fourth oldest member of the second AVALANCHE at 35 during the original game, 37 in Advent Children, and 38 in Dirge of Cerberus. While he isn’t seen in Crisis Core, he would have been 28 during the opening.

Barret’s limit breaks focus on use of his gun arm in ranged attacks with the single exception of Level 2: Hammer Blow, which involves him running up for a close combat strike causing instant death unless an enemy is immune.

Level 1 begins with Big Shot and unlocks Mindblow after using it 9 times

Level 2 begins with Grenade Bomb, unlocked after killing 80 enemies, and Hammer Blow after using Grenade Bomb 8 times

Level 3 begins with Satellite Beam, unlocked after the next 80 enemies killed since unlocking Level 2, and Angermax after using Satellite Beam 6 times

Level 4 is his ultimate limit, Catastrophe, obtainable after the completion of the Huge Materia sidequest’s portion on Mount Corel and useable once he has unlocked all other Limit Breaks

Doujinshi Interest Check

Back in day, as some of you may know, I was a huge collector of FFVII doujinshi. I drifted off into different fandoms and stopped collecting as much, but I still have over 500 books that I own.

The problem being, I am going to be moving and changing living situations soon. I will not have the space to keep my collection, and it has been so long that I feel like they'd be better off going to people who will enjoy them anew anyhow.

So, the question is.

Are there still avid doujinshi collectors out there? Would people be interested if I were to sell the books?

There are a lot of big name doujinka from back in the day, Kiki and Nightflight, Yubinbasya, FINALWORLD's old stuff, and a fair bit that was pretty rare for me to get back then and would be even rarer nowadays. And plenty of stuff in between as well.

Majority is Sefikura and Zakkura. However, there are also other pairings, mainly permutations within SOLDIER (Seph/Zack, Seph/Gen, Angeal/Zack, Zack/Kunsel, ASG-ish, etc.), and a couple of stray Turks, Vincent, an Aerti or two.

This is an insanely huge undertaking; if I'm honest, I've been thinking about it for years, but just didn't have the energy, there is so much.

But if I know there are people interested, I'll probably get off my ass and start making a proper sales post sooner, because I hate to let people down once they're excited for something. So please spread the post around and let me know if you'd like to see them up for sale!!

(I'll need figure to out how to price them and where to list them and how I'm going to organise the whole thing, but I'll worry about ironing out those details once I know if the interest is there. No point putting all the work into that just for it to be met with dead silence, lol.)
