Sabrina giggled when Francesa leaned in. She didn’t expect her friend to agree so quickly! The kiss was over as soon as it began, and though Sabrina had already won what she needed for her challenge with Dare, she felt like she’d been cheated out of a real kiss. “Hmm, I don’t know, that was too quick. I think we should do another test to see,” she teased, stepping closer to Francesca.

francesca giggled, her face turning an uncharacteristic shade of red as sabrina suggested an another kiss. “damn, you’re right,” she said, stepping closer, “round two’s about to knock you off your feet.” with that, she kissed sabrina again, this time making sure to take her time, slowing the kiss down as her hands came to rest up on her friend’s waist.

@ftcobyz​​ // francesca had never liked being around coby, but because their parents had been friends, she’d grown accustomed to him. it was pure bad luck that they’d end up at the same college, under the same roof for the winter, and francesca didn’t know how long they were going to be able to keep themselves from annoying one another. “can you quit that?” she harshly asked, looking up from the spot at the kitchen table, her noodles getting colder every second she spent distracted by her old, sort-of friend.

coby peered off the balcony. “its high but not that high.” he paused as he thought to himself. “i bet if i dropped my phone it wouldn’t even break.” coby suggested as he slid his phone out of his pocket, the brand new iphone 11 pro max. the male tossed it in the air before catching it. “i bet i could toss it over the balcony and still catch it.”

“i literally want to kill you right now,” francesca said, her arms crossed over her chest as if that might shield her from the cold winter breeze hitting them from the balcony. she’d kill for a new iphone right about now, but her parents had cut her off for the time being — something about ‘learning to be independent’ and ‘earning things for herself’, but she mostly tuned out when they began their lectures. “but you do you, i guess. i can’t stop you from ruining a perfectly good phone.”

“Oh, in that case…” Sabrina cast a flirtatious glance at Francesca, gigging as she did. Francesca was her friend, and it felt a little silly, but what was a little kiss between friends? Or a little joking flirting? “Maybe we should start with a little smooch. See if there’s a spark there?”

“i thought you’d never ask,” francesca laughed, pulling sabrina in quickly. she didn’t give herself much time to think about what she was doing before she planted a kiss right on her friend’s lips, the impulsiveness of it all getting the better of her. “so,” she started, pulling away with a grin, “any sparks?”

     “ yes! ” eric let out in support, humming to the song as francesca sang, his hands clapping in beat to a beat he made up as it went. mulan was a solid favorite of his so he could easily remember the song’s nuances, a smile resting on his lips as he watched his friend. “ that was great. ”

“maybe we should start a disney cover band,” francesca laughed as they finished their rendition of the mulan classic, completely wrapped up in the moment to worry too much about what other people might have been thinking about her and her usually off-tune voice. “we could take over the freakin’ world, like, one direction style.”

“Not yet! I’ve been laying pretty low, honestly.” Lindy shrugged, rifling through the nearest closet. “I don’t, like. Like being mean on purpose. Like, it’s fun and all, I for sure get that, and if someone gets me, that’s just, like, life or whatever, like, my feelings won’t be hurt or anything, but. I dunno. I’d just feel bad. Like, look how sad you are. I couldn’t be the reason why on purpose. Uhhhhh.” Pulling out a blanket, she said, “No towels so far, but this’ll help warm you up, right?” She grinned, holding the blanket (and her arms) open. “Blanket bear hug?”

francesca listened to lindy ramble on with a small smile on her face, something about the other girls kindness familiar and warm. they were complete opposites sometimes, she thought, but francesca loved being around lindy, loved the way she lit up a room just by being in it. “you’re, like, a real life angel,” she said, barrelling into lindy’s arms for the proposed blanket bear hug.

LOGAN NODDED SOLEMLY, eyeing Francesca’s phone nervously. She couldn’t see the screen, and part of her wondered what they were saying. Francesca was Logan’s friend, sure, but she was also one of the most beautiful people she’d ever seen. And seemingly effortlessly put together — perfect makeup, impeccable hair. Logan suddenly felt very small in her worn Mathletes sweatshirt from high school, hair worn down and plain, face unadorned by makeup. She smiled tightly however, and let out a sigh.   “   They’d be right. It’s a fucking injustice. I got blocked by Neil DeGrasse Tyson on Twitter over this, so I’m pretty confident I’m fighting the good fight.   ”

the war about pluto waged on in the comments, but francesca couldn’t focus on anything other than logan. oftentimes, she was rather oblivious to the feelings of others, but she’d gotten to know logan well enough to know her cues, she thought. when she was offered a tight smile and a sigh, she immediately reached out, holding her friends hand gently, unbeknownst to the camera. “you got blocked by neil degrasse tyson?” she grinned then, continuing with the line of conversation, “that’s some badass shit. i’m, like, weirdly proud of you.”

“i haven’t found anything yet,” she said, simply with a shrug. doesn’t mean she hadn’t been looking. she slept seldom, and had a tendency to wander around when she couldn’t sleep. “maybe we can try… this,” she walked to the bookshelf, running her fingers over the spines until she fell on a random book. she pulled on it. nothing happened, and she grinned cheekily back at her friend and her camera. “nope. that was a shot in the dark. me and brina are in the loft, though, have you been up there?”

“imagine the views if that had worked, though,” francesca said with a grin, following behind murphy with her phone camera focused on her. she wasn’t sure where this livestream or this tour was going, but she was having fun, and in the end, that was the main reason she did what she did. “i haven’t,” she said in answer to murph’s question then, “mind giving us a tour?”

“guilty,” she grinned, trying not to be acutely aware of the fact a camera was pointed at her. she nodded. “rock on,” she said, then with a face of fake surprise. “me? a hot friend?” her hands went to her cheeks, looking akin to the scream painting. “why, i never.” she was going to go to the kitchen, but any munchies she had were momentarily placated by her friend’s livestream. “what have they already seen?”

“shut up, you know you’re hot,” francesca said with a grin, following murphy around with the camera as she spoke. her followers were loving it so far, and while francesca loved being the centre of attention, she was willing to hand over the spotlight for a little while. “they’ve seen the living room and the kitchen,” she said, “but we need something juicy. these places always have weird, hidden spots we’re not supposed to be in. you found anything interesting yet?”

“it wasn’t negative.” rosalie responded with a smile. “this just has the same premise as most horror movies, but we’d all survive in that scenario anyway because we can fuck people up.” she reminded. “and celebrate we shall! you’re right about homework too, that’s a huge reason to party.”

“me and you combined? no horror movie villain could ever compete. we’ve got ‘em all beat,” francesca grinned, throwing an arm around rosalie’s shoulder as they walked. it really was quiet out here, but there was something so peaceful about it. sure, she could be a high-maintenance city girl most of the time, but a breath of fresh air, no matter how cold, was needed sometimes. “so, who do you think is gonna, like, actually fist fight first?” she said, laughing as she posed the question, “wait, no, who do you think will make out with each other first?”

truthfully, dare wasn’t entirely thrilled when he found out francesca was coming to the cabin either. despite this, he was dead set on coming. he wasn’t going to drop out simply because francesca is coming, especially because  he needed this getaway more than anything. “well i only got three people a gift so,” he reasons, shrugging his shoulders a bit as he sat back on the piano bench. even if they had their differences, dare wasn’t willing to ruin the trip because of it. they’d just have to deal with each other as much as possible. “you get anybody anything?” dare questioned, trying to make conversation in attempts to ease whatever bad vibes were seemingly filling the room.

francesca tried to make herself as comfortable as she could in front of dare, but the truth was that she was tense and awkward around him. things had endly badly between them, and while she was willing to let the past be the past while they were on this trip, she thought part of her might always freeze up as soon as dare was even mentioned. “does a big bottle of booze to share count as a holidays present?” she asked, “if so, i guess i got everyone something.”

Piper put a hand on their hip, laughing internally at the fact that Francesca thought they were serious. She took it as such a serious threat that it almost made them want to do it. “Or I could post videos of me actually having a personality, unlike you, and they’d all flock to someone truly genuine.”

“being a nerd isn’t the same as having a personality,” francesca said, truly believing it was a scathing insult. she hadn’t had much need to grow as a person since her junior year of high school, but that was neither here nor there. “whatever, i’m done with this conversation,” she said, picking up her mug, “leave me alone.”

BETWEEN FRANCESCA AND Sabrina, Logan was beginning to wish that Instagram had never been invented. It wasn’t like she didn’t partake in the festivities — it was 2019, but the constant obsession with likes and comments and views … at the very least confused her. However — unlike Sabrina, she didn’t actually Francesca’s guts. So, at the cry for her to become the entertainer instead of just merely a bystander, she floundered but at least made an attempt.   “   Uhhh,   ”   Just say something.   “   I’m not … interesting. UH —   ”   She spoke directly to the camera, now, to whatever fans Francesca had listening.   “   What does everyone think about Pluto? Planet? Not a planet?   ”

though logan was one of the nerdiest people francesca had ever met, she adored her. in a way, she’d taken it upon herself to bring logan out of her shell a little bit more, to doll her up whenever she could and remind her that she was a hot bitch despite her obvious lack of confidence sometimes. “ooooh, controversial, what do you guys think?” she grinned, posing the question to the camera, eyes scanning the flood of comments as they came in. “looks like most people think pluto was fucking robbed, babe, what do you think?”

     eric rolled his eyes jokingly at the sight of francesca doing yet another live– had he really thought his friend would have chosen a different activity for this trip? had he known she was planning on going live, he would’ve waited and gone hang out in her room later on in the day;; sometimes he couldn’t fight the feeling he was more of a bother than anything else. raising a brow in surprise at the camera being pointed towards him, eric held the pillow close from where he laid in bed. “ what? is my sleep deprived face not interesting enough?– fran, this is a winter cabin, it’s snowing and it’s the holidays. shouldn’t you be singing carols or building snowmans outside? ” the man asked with a playful tone before his face dramatically indicated an idea with a gasp. “ wait ! should i sing frozen? ”

 francesca grinned widely when eric expressed his dismay about her live. eric had always come off as shy and introverted, but she was on a mission to bring him out of his shell, even if it did mean thrusting him into the spotlight when he least expected it. it was all entirely out of love, though, of course. “oh, your face is interesting enough, trust me,” she grinned again, eyes scanning the flood of comments calling him cute, “but you should absolutely sing some frozen. give the people what they want, baby.”

Piper let out a laugh, as though they cared about how many instagram followers they had? They were never that interested in the social media site anyway. They rolled their eyes at the girl.  “Wow. That hurt Franks. Maybe I should just start stealing yours.”

francesca couldn’t help but let out a loud burst of laughter at piper’s threat. it was so fucking stupid, so petty, exactly something she’d expect from someone like piper. “i’d like to see you try,” she said, “you have to be, like, at least sort of interesting to do what i do. i don’t think you have it in you, pipes.”

at this moment, murphy froze, then immediately threw up a peace sign, grinning lazily at the camera. “hello to the people,” she parroted, going into another dance. what did lizzo call it? flute it and shoot it? minus the flute. “are you not entertained?” she boomed, emulating gerard butler from gladiator before bursting into a fit of laughter. “what’s the live stream for?”

“you’re a fucking dork,” francesca laughed, keeping an eye on the numbers at the bottom of the screen while also trying to maintain a conversation with her friend. it was hard not to notice the way the people watching the stream responded to murphy and her antics, her screen lighting up with comments like ‘she’s SO FUNNY DKNFKSNLSC’ almost constantly. “i told them about this trip and they wanted to see the place, i guess, so this is a little cabin tour. the hot friends jumping in on it is a bit of a bonus,” she said, flashing a grin murph’s way.
