Arsenal v W. Ham - 10.12.19
The selection
Bellerin wasn't fit enough. So they got Niles.
Callum Chambers is not good enough but Niles and Chambers cooperated well today.
Tierney too was not good enough but started. He got an arm injury so it was a blessing in disguise for Sead Kolasinac to play in the early 1st Half.
How it went
West Ham was content to sit deep. Antonio hardly pressed. That explained the possession majority of Arsenal.
But they are a more physical side. Arsenal as usual are soft except for Kolasinac and Xhaka as usual.
Is it part of their strategy? To defend deep?
The goal by Ogbonna was a scrappy and lucky one. A poor header which by some misfortune, hit Niles and went in when it was actually going out!
This I think makes Freddy really mad at the team talk during half-time.
There are many bad mistakes moment. Xhaka, Tierney, Pepe and Sokratis. Luckily it was not capitalised by W Ham.
Then come the break thru moment when Kolasinac was able to break free by Toreira on the left wing. Cross square low to Martinelli who took that opportunity brilliantly to level the score.
This was followed by another 2 goals. One by Aubameyang and another by Pepe.
Ozil didn't have any assists but his vision contributed to the last 2 goals somehow.

Punggol East by-election candidates
Disclaimer... I am not a PAP supporter simply because LKY is a racist so it's hard to be impartial. Here are my ratings for the candidates or rather how I tie their professions with their political ability. In descending order.
SDA's Desmond Lim Bak Chuan will lose big time but then again, he is not a stranger to losing by a wide margin. Maybe he wants to know how deep rock bottom is. He may be smart but hardly any engineers (He is an engineer at M1) I know can interact with humans well. They are mostly dry and will put you to sleep. Sure there are many engineers in PAP but they are not real engineers but of either academic or management staff. Look at how smooth that Jacoob is. Opps I digress. His sidekick, the lively Singh, in contrast really shows what he is lacking.
Kenneth Jeyaretnam has a good pedigree. His father is after all JBJ and his brother a brilliant lawyer and story writer. He is also respected for blowing the whistle on the SG $5 billion IMF loan amongst others. He has a lot to offer. Being an economist, he looks at figures mostly but his interactions with people is limited. He speaks with a Victorian accent and his persuasive skills is low among the new heart landers. He sounded drunk at times which reminds me of the Singapore pledge recital debacle in 2011. Also not helping is his young RP members who sounded too aggressive in their rally speech which is a turn off for the older generations. I am optimistic given his background that he could improve as times go on.
Dr. Koh Poh Koon of PAP. Medical doctors and lawyers are PAP potential targets and are generally smart and they interact with people daily. Dr. Koh is a good man, speaks well during the rallies and his life stories have high entertainment value. Being a successful surgeon of the asshole kind, he has been earmarked for higher positions within PAP ranks. However, Dr. Koh has shown political immaturity by saying something silly about the car issue and PAP will pay for this.
Ms. Lee Li Lian is the worker's party candidate. She comes from a marketing background so she makes a good political strategist but not necessarily a good politician or leader. Not very smart or insightful with her words but very endearing to her targeted audience especially Ah Peks because she has a warm personality and a familiar "lian" name. I think she will win albeit narrowly but not on her won abilities but because the PAP brand is on the wane while WP is Singapore's only hope at the moment.
Realistically, PAP has the better chance if there are people who vote for Kenneth because these votes should go to Li Lian. Kenneth just makes Li Lian chances slimmer but we will see.

Watched Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares while waiting for Man U's game. It's a reality tv show revolving around a chef trying to help people running a restaurant. In this episode, Ramsay is trying to make a vegetarian restaurant work in Paris, a city where the majority are meat eaters.
What I like about it are the lessons to be learned about business. You must have the passion and motivation. Your staff must be equally motivated and skilled too. Friends doesn't necessarily make good staff. The following parts of the episode are
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Common themes of this show
Every part of the machinery must work well. Especially the boss and the chef.
The boss must be able to do everything himself. Lead by example.
Attention to detail is crucial
there must be a system, communication, organisation, orderliness to handle the work
fast and efficient is the name of the game
listen to the customers. Understand their needs
Promotion and marketing
A staff is not necessarily a friend. A friend however, will try his best
You must be prepared to work your butt-off in order to be successful
Develop your skills and knowledge of the business
Fresh ingredients and clean environment makes a huge difference
Treat your clients with respect and care.
There will be some nasty clients and they are out there to create a scene and give you a tough time. Customers are right only when they are right and reasonable. Give them hell.
If you got good location and everything is going for you, then failure is largely due to your own weakness.
