Brooklyn, NY – Field Guides will be releasing their new album This Is Just A Place on September 27 via Whatever’s Clever. The first track from the album is “Guessing At Animals,” a track that’s just over 5.5 minutes long. The first couple seconds of the track lays the groundwork for some the lushest indie pop I’ve heard in a while. The instrumentation is dreamy and quirky - it definitely feels like you’re drifting into a fantasyland. Field Guides’ jangly guitars give “Guessing At Animals” an indie rock core that grounds the song on a cohesive track. But diving deeper into the track, there are orchestral layers that give the song the honest, heartwarming sentimental touch that’s present in the lyrics. “Guessing At Animals” perfectly captures those new feelings for someone new and finally letting go of heartbreak.

Reminiscing on our tour a couple springs ago… Here we are playing a tune by the brilliant @marynyones (Yowler, All Dogs, etc.) that @kournikovax introduced me to years ago (he also shot this video). This was a weird show in a lovely little attic room of a church in my hometown. We played in front of a seated audience consisting of my parents and a few of their friends, plus some really cool teenagers. Wicca Phase and @gregorygover and Chimneys all played stellar sets. Memmmmories… (at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania)
