Welcome to Your Silo

Fifteen years ago I wrote a story about all of humanity trapped in the bubble of an underground silo where all their news of the outside world was delivered through a single screen, and that screen showed them death, destruction, and all the things to fear. Justin posted the 1956 house he and his wife bought in Jasper, Indiana. It is a complete time capsule. Absolutely NOTHING has been updated or touched.  

Everything is still here- look at the appliances. All original. This is not like the classy expensive updated mid century homes we’ve seen before. 

The furniture has to be the original pieces and sets the previous owners bought. 

The wall hangings are aged.

This is an interesting piece, this bar. 

Look at the bathroom- pink fixtures.

Those lamps!

The master bath has a yellow tub and fixtures.

A 2nd bdm. Even the bedding is vintage.

And, this bath has blue Fixtures. Wow, I would definitely keep them.

More cool lamps and original furniture in the knotty pine family room. 

Wow, look at the built-ins in the office.

The lower floor.

The basement is cool- look at that floor! And, the TV. The bar is classic. I wonder if they were leaving any of this.

Off the rec room is a 2nd kitchen. A pink fridge!

And, there’s this room, too. Look at the stone wall.

SW Sequels DONE PROPERLY

ok so it’s 3 am and I just had a Thought.

Here goes:

FIRST OF ALL - make Finn the Main Character. Make him (or maybe her? a Black woman Jedi? yes please) the wildly powerful Jedi with a comes-from-nothing backstory. Not a drop of old white man name brand blood to be found. All the nuance and intricacies a Main deserves. I really just want a well-written Finn wielding a lightsaber.

SECOND - Rey becomes the Best Friend. She is now fulfilling the role of Ally, showing the white people in the audience how to do that shit. I like the symbolism of her being the descendant of the man who caused the most harm (read: daughter of colonizers) in the entire fucking galaxy - and this way she can use that inherited power to destroy everything her grandfather created and build a better system under the guidance of a Black leader.

THIRDLY - Poe is the Romantic Interest. (if Finn is genderbent, so is Poe. if Finn remains as is, then so does Poe. No arguments.) Basically the same character, just with better writing.

AND FINALLY - with these changes in place, we would then get a triumvirate of Women Who Are Sick Of Skywalker Drama being badasses.

I really like the genderbent Finn and Poe idea, ngl.

somehow the poor cops who we were told are simply too understaffed and underpaid because of Woke to deal with 'rampant rising crime' have found the strength to beat the shit out of college students across the whole country for peacefully saying "divest from the country killing innocent palestinians in the tens of thousands"

“His failure at Yavin haunts him for all the obvious reasons.  And one very private reason.” “His name is Skywalker.” Anyway, you ever think about Anakin thinking about how he failed at Yavin, not just because the Rebels destroyed the Death Star and got away, but also that he failed on a personal level?  To recognize his son.  To realize what had been kept from him for all those years?  What he tried to do to Luke while they were screaming around in their fighters around the Death Star?  That he failed to capture Luke then? Look at this trash bag of a human being who may feel a spark of remorse for all the trash bag things he’s done in his life but is smothering it with anger and hate and suffering at what was kept from him, what was taken from him, what has set him down this confusing path! I hope it haunts him, what he almost did and what he failed to do, both because I love pain and suffering in my own heart when I read Star Wars and also because Anakin deserves it, but also I can’t stand his suffering and want him to find his way back to the light already, SO BASICALLY I’M JUST GONNA CRY OVER ANAKIN SKYWALKER YET AGAIN.
